Interaction with Guests
I welcome guests and show them around the house. I like to make sure they are made comfortable and know how the cooker, heating and locks work for their stay! If I'm away, I'll make sure someone is there to meet you and show you around.
Portobello is just gorgeous! It's a residential neighbourhood full of small red brick terraces alongside the Grand Canal. It's peppered with some really great cafes and the Michelin starred Locks restaurant. It is right beside the canal for leisurely strolls or feeding the swans. It takes 15 minutes to walk into Grafton Street or City Centre via Camden Street. Best of all, Portobello is really quiet at night so you won't be disturbed.
There are buses, a tram and a Dublin Bike Station all very nearby. However it's really easy to walk everywhere if you plan on staying in the city. The area is very well served by bus, with 4 regular buses taking around five minutes to get into the centre of Dublin. All buses including the route 16 (which goes directly to Dublin airport) leave from the South Circular Road, Junction Carlisle street stop, about 500 metres away. The Green Luas ( tram) line is five minutes away and serves South Dublin.
Other Things to Note
We do live in our house so our things are about the place, however we will clear out some wardrobe space and you're welcome to help yourself to our store cupboard of spices and staples, tea, coffee etc.. if you'd like to cook! Please note we do not have a TV.
We expect our guests to treat our home with respect just as they would like their home to be treated.
Please don't smoke inside.
Dorothy and her husband were both incredibly nice and easy to reach. The flat was clean and in a great location. Very easy to walk or take the bus to the city. Overall, a great stay and thanks for all the suggestions for things to do!
Dorothy was wonderful to deal with, easy going, warm, friendly and helpful. Her spot in Dublin is well located in general but particularly for those who want to bike around the city, as a Dublin bike stand (3 day pass is available!) is just around the corner! The house itself is very comfortable and nicely decorated. I would definitely recommend this spot.
Very welcoming people (even provided bread and wine on arrival), lovely apartment which is well located for the central south side of the city.
Could have been professionally clean would be the only downside but on the whole positive.
The house was perfect for our stay! Located right next to the picturesque canal and a short walk into town.
The home itself was wonderful - cosy, quaint and clean. Dorothy was excellent in getting back to us on email (within minutes) and went out of her way to ensure we had all we needed for the weekend including lots of yummy Irish food.
Would 100% recommend.
Visited Dublin for my hen weekend with a few friends. We wanted somewhere lively to stay within walking distance of the city. This place was perfect.
Loved our stay here. Beautiful two bedroom apartment - perfect location. Portobello is a great area to stay in Dublin. And I have to mention - the beds were SO very comfy!!
Dorothy and Chris were kind enough to leave a folder with information on the area, transport links etc. which we found very helpful. Could not recommend highly enough!
