The space
Our home is a small cottage built in the 1930’s with a stone exterior. At 1000 square feet, it is cozy and comfortable with living and kitchen areas, two bedrooms, a loft and one bathroom.
There are two bedrooms, the main level master with a king bed, and an upstairs bedroom with a queen. The semi private loft has two twin beds. The living area holds a couch with a fold away queen bed, sleeping a total of 8 people. On request, we also have an infant crib.
The kitchen features a large, deep sink, oven and stove, refrigerator, microwave, electric fry pan, coffee maker, waffle maker, slow cooker and more. A full set of pans and lids is also included. The barbecue is located on the back porch. The spice shelf includes salt, sugar, oil and other basic spices. There is no functional ice maker.
In the living room you’ll find a 55 inch TV with DVD player and access to Netflix and other movie watching apps. There is no cable or satellite. The Wi-Fi network in the home is secured.
The home is stocked with linens and towels. There is also extra bedding in the master closet tote for the foldaway bed. There is a washer and a dryer, and laundry detergent is provided.
Surrounded by mature trees, you can enjoy the wrap-around porch with the provided barbecue and porch swing. At the request of our guests, the detached garage can be used to secure bikes and other equipment.
The cottage is centrally located in Hurricane, within walking distance of a grocery store, a convenience store, post office, the local library, and several restaurants. It is a half hour drive from Zion NP. Other area attractions include Sand Hollow Reservoir and mountain biking on Gooseberry Mesa.
Guest access
Guests have access to the whole house and outdoor space. There is a detached garage that is not generally accessible. However, the driveway can accommodate up to six single cars or larger vehicles with trailers. The home is located on a cul-de-sac with some space for turning around larger vehicles. No on-street parking.
Other things to note
Though it has been updated, the home is nearing its 100th birthday. Please keep in mind that it has quirks - like a slightly sloping floor, older walls are very thick, not entirely square, and made of plaster, the upper floor has a lower ceiling, etc. We believe these quirks add charm. Please feel free to not book with us if you feel otherwise.
Pest control comes sometime during the first part of each month. The most common insects in the desert are roaches. We do our absolute best to keep the cottage pest free, but it is to be expected to come across dead roaches occasionally, especially in the summer.
