The living room has a dangerously comfortable couch -- the perfect place to take a long, lazy nap, or to spend the night. There's also another comfy chair, an end table, a coffee table with magazines and picture books, a few lamps, a dining table with chairs, and a 39-inch HD 1080 color TV with cable.
The kitchen has everything you need to make delightful meals: pots, pans, silverware, plates, bowls, glasses, wine glasses, mugs, spices, rice cooker, coffee maker, coffee press, blender, toaster, and of course a fridge, stove, dishwasher, and microwave.
Yes, I do provide the second "b" in "airbnb": breakfast! :) I stock the kitchen with do-it-yourself breakfast essentials: bread, cereal, milk, eggs, fruit, oatmeal, yogurt, coffee, tea, etc.
Please let me know if you have any dietary restrictions and/or breakfast preferences -- e.g. vegetarian or gluten-free.
The bathroom has a shower and tub, bathmat, shower curtain, mirror, hair dryer, and ... wait for it -- even a sink, flush toilet, and running water! I provide soap, shampoo, conditioner, and freshly-laundered towels and washcloths.
The bedroom has a comfy queen-sized bed with freshly-laundered linens, plus a nightstand, a chest of drawers, reading lamps, and a closet.
The queen-sized bed is perfect for a couple, or one person can sleep on the living room couch. Note that the couch is *not* a pull-out couch, and *not* ideal for anybody over 5' 9". Please be sure you're comfortable with these arrangements before booking!
Even if some dates look booked, ask me -- I might be able to work something out.
Some reviews mention parking issues ... Not to worry, those have been sorted out. You'll have a covered, reserved spot available, about 87 steps from the front door.
Extra linens, towels, toiletries, etc. are in the closet.
Help yourself to everything but my clothes and toothbrush! :)
The place is 100% yours!
Interaction with Guests
I enjoy interacting with guests, but I also appreciate their desire for privacy. I'll give all the help you need, then step back and let you enjoy your stay!
Whatever brings you to Silicon Valley -- business travel, dinner with Peter Thiel or Mark Andreesen, pitching your startup to Sequoia or YCombinator, a vacation, or visiting friends or family -- my place is right in the middle. Depending on traffic, you're within a 10 - 30 minute drive of a veritable alphabet soup of world-renowned companies such as Apple, Brocade, Cisco, Dell, EBay, the big F, the even bigger G, Hewlett Packard, Instagram and Intel and Intuit, Juniper, the company starting with "Linked" and ending with "In", Lyft, Microsoft, Netapp and Netflix, Oracle, Pinterest and Pixar, Qualcomm, Rambus, Symantec and Square, the Tweet company, Uber, VMware, Western Digital and Whatsapp, Xilinx, the purple company starting with "Yah" and ending with "oo", and Zynga.
Ok, I'll confess that Lyft, Oracle, Pinterest, Pixar, Square, the Tweet company, Uber, and Zynga are actually a bit to a lot further than 30 minutes! :( I was just trying to fill out the alphabet.
Non-techies also welcome! :)
There's a small shopping center just around the corner with Safeway (a large grocery store), Starbucks, a Chase and Wells Fargo ATM, Marie Calendar's, a sushi restaurant, a tanning salon, and the Russian School of Mathematics. I'm not kidding!
The three main airports are the following distances, depending on traffic:
-- San Jose (SJC) : 15 - 30 minutes
-- San Francisco (SFO) : 45 - 75 minutes
-- Oakland (OAK) : 35 - 75 minutes
Major streets like Wolfe Road, Fair Oaks, Mary, El Camino Real, Lawrence Expressway, and Central Expressway, are very close.
The cool downtown areas of Sunnyvale and Mountain View are ten and fifteen minutes away, respectively, and both have killer restaurants -- see my guide book in the upper right corner. Sunnyvale's downtown is fairly small and centered on Murphy Street; Mountain View's is larger and anchored on Castro street. Both downtown areas have a Caltrain station.
You're near to El Camino Real, which has a variety of restaurants, grocery stores, convenience stores, big box retailers, and gas stations.
If you like the ocean, the coastal communities of Half Moon Bay, Santa Cruz, and Aptos are 45 minutes away. If hiking's your thing, the Santa Cruz mountains are also 45 minutes away. Mount Diablo is the same distance, but in the other direction, and offers amazing hikes and unmatched views of the Bay Area.
Curious about San Francisco? It's 45 - 90 minutes away and has amazing restaurants, cultural events, and museums. Another 45 minutes beyond that -- over the iconic Golden Gate Bridge -- and you're in beautiful Napa Valley.
Keep in mind that traffic can be pretty bad, so plan accordingly!
Did I mention parks? They're all over the place! We take our green spaces quite seriously.
If you have questions about things to do or places to visit, please ask. I've lived here over a dozen years, have seen a lot, and enjoy recommending things to do!
Keep in mind that traffic, especially during rush hour, can be excruciatingly s l o w. :( Feel free to ask for help in planning and navigating a trip!
Keep in mind this is Silicon Valley suburbia, designed in the 1950s for cars, not for pedestrians, bikes, or public transit. If you don't have a rental car, you'll need to use Uber or Lyft, use public transit, bring a bike, or do a *lot* of walking. The VTA 22 bus runs up and down El Camino Real regularly and stops about a 10 minute walk away, while the beautiful Steven's Creek trail -- heaven for biking -- is only 5 miles away. More streets are being made bike-friendly.
Other Things to Note
Extra linens, towels, toiletries, etc. are in the closet.
I'm never more than a text, email, or phone call away.
Mi casa es tu casa, so please treat mi casa like tu casa! No smoking inside or on the patio, and though the complex is pet-friendly, I don't have one and I'd prefer you didn't come with one. Nothing against pets -- just that my place isn't set up for them. Since the complex is pet-friendly, this may not be the best place for you if you're allergic to cats or dogs.
Please leave your shoes by the front door.
Finally, though there is a pool, dry sauna, tennis courts, and gym, the complex restricts guest access unless I am physically with you -- which is why these are *not* listed above under "amenities".
The laundry room, however, is available for guests -- and it's 12 seconds from the front door.
Thanks, and enjoy your stay! :)
Exactly as expected. We were very pleased.
My GF and I needed a place for a last minute getaway. Kevin was graciously able to accommodate. His place is very clean and nice. Very comfortable. We enjoyed our night and plan to use it again.
Great place, great location! Kevin is a superb host! Will use again!
Everything was as promised - clean, neat, lots of space, great outdoor space and within walking to shopping, restaurants and coffee. I had the pleasure of chatting with Kevin for an hour, and he is a great guy and excellent host!
Comfortable space. Great location. Excellent communication with Kevin. Everything I needed for 3 nights. I will definitely be back.
Kevin is a great host - easy to get in touch with, made getting in and checking out really easy, and had fresh fruits and plenty of coffee stocked at the home. The home is clean and Neato runs around automatically cleaning up and keeping it perfect. Parking and access to the unit are really easy, and Kevin's directions were perfect. A great short-term stay.
A couple critiques, although I do recommend the rental:
The bed is a little worn in, and it rolled both of us to the middle which was uncomfortable. The shower head is pretty low, causing both of us to stoop to get under the spray. The water pressure was pretty low too, but the temperature was great and made up for the lower pressure (perhaps this is a low-flow mandated shower head).
Hi Mark, thanks for staying, and come again! Just replaced Neato's battery, so he's behaving better now. As a frequent traveler myself, I know breakfast is a tough meal to organize on the road -- you're often rushing to a meeting, and there isn't always a convenient restaurant nearby; I'm glad the coffee and fruits worked out for you!
Thanks for the feedback about the bed, and sorry about it not being comfortable for you -- you're the first guest to mention it, but I'll look into getting a firmer mattress. I think the shower head is indeed a mandated low-flow one, and the complex has less than perfect plumbing, plus if you take a shower when others in the building are doing the same ... yep, unfortunately, it's not the greatest water pressure, but sometimes adjusting the shower head makes up for it. I'm afraid that as California's drought gets worse, low water pressure may become the new normal.

High-tech professional, travel a lot. Happily settled in Silicon Valley for over a decade.
Favorite food ... tough question. I love almost everything, but I have a particular weakness for French, Vietnamese, and Cajun.
I'm a very low-maintenance guest, and a very respectful host -- I love to help guests out with as much information as they need about my place and about things to do, but also give them all the space they want. Communication is key -- in both directions!
Five things I can't live without? Favorite music and movies? Good grief! This is AirBnb, not Match!
