The space
We welcome you (and your pets, if you wish) to our home with open arms! Relax and let go of life's stresses. Live. Laugh. Play. Do what brings you joy! This cabin is open and spacious. Yet you can still find cozy places to curl up with a favorite magazine, book, i-pad or laptop if the mood strikes you.
The table at the picture window—with wonderful lake view— is popular. You can enjoy meals, play board games, sip coffee, even surf the net using reliable wifi.
The cabin sits close to the water. Hop into the rowboat steps away, and after a few minutes arrive on a sandy bank to enjoy a secluded beach right on Lake Superior. But Grand Marais and surrounding area has many beautiful, sandy beaches, almost endless access to hike, sit and view broad, gorgeous expanses of sand, sun, water, trees--panoramic horizons. Oh, and fresh, fresh air. In addition, a charcoal grill is provided should you crave sizzling barbecue. Washer, dryer and other amenities are free of charge.

Guest access
Most of the cabin is at your fingertips. Outside, stairs guide you to the waterfront and a boat. A short paddle across a little lake on a this fun, sturdy row boat will take you across to a sandy landing. A short stroll over the sand will lead you to Lake Superior beach. Very private! It is a brand new boat. There is a local phone in the home for you to use for local calls, free of charge. It is there for your convenience and safety. (Also good for calling to order pizza!) Emergency numbers are clearly provided for you on the refrigerator and various points in the house, as are brochures for things to see and do. The photos provided on this site are representing the home. But I have also included pictures of some of my favorite places. There is so much to see and do here. Wishing you the best time ever! Just as an FYI - The garage is used to store supplies and is not accessible.

Other things to note
The weather is often temperate. But temperatures can quickly drop, even in high summer. Packing a light colored pair of long pants and wearing them (or tossing them in your sack to take along) is a good idea. When you pack, make sure you bring layers of clothing if you are sensitive to occasional cooler late summer and early autumn nights.
One another note, the air is so clear, that on a cloudless night—the starry skies should amaze! If you have time, do visit the Pictured Rocks Headquarters in Munising. I also highly recommend the sunset boat cruise along Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. It is a good idea to pre-purchase tickets by calling the cruise line in Munising. The boats originate there.
On another note, there has been some interest in purchase of the cabin. In the very unlikely chance that a real estate agent would like to show the property. A helper may ask you but you can always say no. But if you do say yes for a brief, 15-minute showing, i will pay you a$50.00 thank you fee.

Location

Grand Marais, Michigan, United States

Grand Marais, Michigan, reminds me of some quaint small towns that have been written about in scenic, comforting novels or pleasurable TV shows. The town and area is amazing! The town offers several restaurants and a micro brewery, historic museums, and shops offering works of local artists and artisans. Feel like exploring? An outfitter shop offers fun items to purchase and also offers ORV rentals or other equipment. Also, basic needs can be met at a grocery and hardware store and gas station.
On a persnal note, We drove into town in 1990 not knowing much about Grand Marais. Upon seeing and experiencing this lovey town and area our jaws dropped in awe. We have returned to Grand Marais several times yearly ever since. That is how much we love Grand Marais!

Magnificent, blazing. dazzling fall colors usually appear mid-to-last week of September and the first two weeks in October. The colors, in my view, rival the Northeast US coast. So if you love fall colors, usually paired with mild, sunny days--these days are for you!
