Nice apartment in Amsterdam Oud-West!
The apartment is on the second floor of a typical Amsterdam building from 1900. It has a living room, one bedroom, a balcony, kitchen and bathroom. The bedroom has a double bed and you can use the couch in the living room as a single bed. It's about 60 square meters.
I usually live here, so expect a real apartment, not a hotel. It's clean, tidy and fully equipped with everything you need: sheets, towels, television, wifi etc. In the kitchen you'll find many cooking supplies, a water boiler, coffee maker and (microwave) oven. Plus there's a collection of dvd's, cd's and books if you're getting bored. I'll leave an Amsterdam Lonely Planet and maps.
You have access to everything in the apartment.
Interaction with Guests
Of course you'll have the apartment for yourself. However, you can always call or email me if you have any questions while there.
Oud-West is a neighborhood near the centre with a lot of restaurants, shops, bars etc. It's in a street with a local, daily market were you can buy fresh food and it's very lively. Around the corner you'll find De Hallen, a cool new place with restaurants, a movie theatre and more. This part of town is known for it's great mix of people and stuff to do. It's not 'too touristy' and you can get a taste of the real Amsterdam, yet all the famous attractions are nearby!
Popular places like Leidseplein, Vondelpark, Museumplein and De
Jordaan are within walking distance. Public transport is really good; many trams and (night) busses stop around the corner so you can go everywhere pretty easily, also to a train station. But of course the easiest way for getting around in Amsterdam is by bike! You'll be at for instance the Anne Frank House or Rijksmuseum within a couple of minutes.
Other Things to Note
Two things to think about before you book:
- It's at a street with a daily market (Mon-Sat). You can hear the market a little bit, but not too much. When they built the stands in the early morning and break it down in the late afternoon it's louder. The bedroom is as the other side and it's fine there, but if someone's sleeping on the couch in the living room I would suggest earplugs.
- The apartment is at the second floor and there are stairs outside to the front door. Like a lot of old houses in Amsterdam the stairs are small and steep. If you have difficulties walking or have a lot of luggage I wouldn't recommend it.
- In general, I don't feel it's suitable for kids because of the stairs and size. It's important to me people are happy with the apt and I don't want to worry about it too much, so I'll always decline bookings
when it involves kids . No matter how cute, cool and easy-going your little one is. ;)
- You can't smoke inside the apartment, but there's a balcony.
- There are no pets allowed.
- Please respect the neighbors by not making too much noise.
- Please respect my home by leaving it behind the way I left it.
- Please lock it when you go outside.
Roshni was an excellent host even though we didn't have the pleasure of meeting her. Our previous host had cancelled without warning while we were already abroad a couple days before arriving and she was quick to respond and help. The apartment is in a perfect location with everything we needed within walking distance. It was also fully stocked with everything we needed to cook, and the balcony gave an amazing view to watch the fireworks on New Years. The tram stop is a minute walk outside the door.
We enjoyed our stay profoundly, staying in a flat is such a better way to experience a town and feel it like home. Roshni is very nice and everything was as we had hoped for. The market was not as loud as we expected. I hope to return to this nice city soon...
Cosy, quiet and really close from city center.
We had a really great stay at Roshni's. The flat is really well situated, we were quickly in all the great places (Pijp / Jordaan) of this lovely city.
We really enjoyed her sofa and bed which were a real pleasure after our Amsterdam exploring days.
The room is really quiet and you can have a rest on the balcony.
She was easily available by phone or mail when needed.
We would definitely like to stay at Roshni's when we will come back to Amsterdam.
The best recommendations! Everything was excellent, the beautiful apartment, really convenient arrangement, very good market directly under windows. In the apartment there is everything that is necessary, our stay was very comfortable!
Roshni was great and the communication was exceptional! The house was lovely and as it appears in the pictures. Stairs to apartment are very steep but ok when not lugging heavy suit cases :)
Location is great too, easy to get everywhere and the market downstairs has everything anyone could want from day to day.
Also, Roshni has a choice dvd collection which entertained the hell out of us wben we weren't checking out the town.
We recommend this apartment for anyone needing a nice pad in Amsterdam!
We had a great time in Amsterdam. There was a plumbing mishap just before we arrived, but after talking to Roshni she fixed it promptly.
The market in front of the house is great, tram connection just around the corner, supermarket very close.
For us it was fine, but be aware the stairs are pretty steep.
About the Host, Roshni
Born and live in Amsterdam. I'm a freelancer in film/photography and also love to film and take photos in my spare time. :)
I think Airbnb is a great way to make my apartment useful whenever I'm out of town. I also book apartments myself while travelling, it's a good start for getting to know a place.
