About this listing
Gorgeous Lake view in the heart of posh Summerside neighbourhood.
You will not find a place where 5 or more guests can stay comfortably at this price with complete privacy. You have a separate entrance.
Licensed by the City of Edmonton.
Please note that this is an elevated BASEMENT suite. It has 9 ft. ceiling. Since it is elevated, the windows are fully above ground and there is a lot of lighting. It is approx. 800 sq. ft.
Two spacious bedrooms with queen beds. Spacious living room which can easily accommodate an Airbed (not provided) for two more adults. Sectional sofa for your comfort. The sofa can accommodate an adult.
So, my place can accommodate 7 adults. If you don't bring your Airbed, I will provide extra blankets, bed sheets, and pillows so that you can sleep on the floor.
Full bath with granite countertop and ceramic tile floor.
There is a pool table and a treadmill.
There is a coffee machine for those coffee enthusiasts.
There is also a writing desk for work which has USB ports.
Microwave and a micro fridge. NO Kitchen. And NO cooking with table top stove!
If communication is important to you, very few can beat me on that side. I usually respond with an hour, most of the time within minutes. Now, that is Priceless!
One thing to note that we live upstairs. I have two kids. So, there will be noise. However, I try my best to keep noise at a minimum after 11pm. However, throughout the day, there will be all sorts of noise, walking, running, water running, people talking, etc. I am emphasizing this because you need to know what to expect so that you are not surprised by anything.
Please note that you will have to do street parking.
Interaction with Guests
I prefer that the guests enjoy their time. If you need anything, I will be there to make your stay a pleasant one.
Summerside is the only Lakeside community in Edmonton. Most importantly, my house backs onto a Pond. You have full access to my backyard and can enjoy a nice evening looking at the beautiful view. In a City like Edmonton, this view is rare.
There is public transit within a minute from the home.
Other Things to Note
I love pets but don't allow it to respect all types of guest preferences!
If you need access to laundry, let me know and I will do it for you.
Please don't keep anything on the pool table.
Great place, great host, we stayed at his place 3 times for over 12 days in months of July and August, definitely recommend this place.
i normally look at overall rating and space description for selecting a place to stay.... no need to check reviews usually
- Surprised accommodation was a basement suite. We felt the ad's was misleading to say that it's "a house" when describing "the space".
- I guess private entrance should have tipped me off.. but don't remember reading that.
- the ad is constantly being updated and it's hard to know what you're getting. I guess I should have read the fine print and reviews.
- Qualifies as "private apartment", but to be honest It should be advertised as a basement unit/suite.
- Had trouble figuring out WiFi , because we didn't have internet prior to arrival (our fault)... Host had left me a message with instructions on airbnb site.
- Trouble locating the appliance (micro-fridge/toaster/microwave)as they are small & black and in a closet.
- a bit noisy, but if you're going in knowing it's a shared dwelling is not too bad (their walking around/music/sounds of ruining water). They probably can hear us through the vents (my son, a loud early riser)
- Washer/Dryer option = they will wash your laundry for you.. hmm no thanks
- Host responds very quickly/polite and nice
-The neighborhood is very nice and quiet
- The accommodations are spacious and bright.
-The rooms are big enough that you can put at least 2 portable-cribs.
- Free WiFi
- Washer/Dryer option (debatable)
- Pool table
- lived in noises
- SMALL appliances
- THIS IS A SHARED DWELLING (people live upstairs F/T) in a basement suite, but is completely private since there's only one entrance
Dear Marieve, as always, I always appreciate great feedback. Thank you for taking the time to write a detailed review. The biggest challenge you had was that you didn't realize that it is a basement suite. Really sorry about that. I make crystal clear on my ad that it is a basement suite. I want to make sure that my guests know what they are getting. You also had noise issues. Again, that is something I make very clear to my guests before booking that I have kids. I wish you communicated with me more. You hardly communicated with me. One of my specialty is communication with guests. But I could hardly get you to communicate with me. I hope that in future I will be able to provide better service if you choose to stay with me. Best wishes.
Het huisje was zoals op de foto,s en de beschrijving. Het is een ruime woning met een prachtig badkamer . Nayeem was erg bereikbaar als wij vragen hadden
We did not really enjoy our stay here and would not recommend staying here if you want to relax.
The description of the place was inaccurate. There was no writing desk. There was no coffee maker. The fridge and microwave are tiny and in a closet. We were not shown how to access the backyard to enjoy the view of the pond.
Getting in touch with Nayeem for the booking was great. After we arrived, it was difficult to get a response from Nayeem. When we had asked for some facecloths so that we could shower, there was no response. When they had friends over at the house upstairs, they parked in our spot in the driveway. We have a 2 year old and a newborn and had to park on the street. I had mentioned to Nayeem that someone parked in our spot, no response once again. We wanted to enjoy a relaxing time away from home but, the guests that they had over were making a lot of noise running around upstairs. I did say that it sounded like a pack of wild animals upstairs, this is when I got a response. I apologized for the way I said it was noisy upstairs. I did not get any apology for the noise or the parking spot. I felt like we were taking a back seat to his guests upstairs.
If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing time, I'm not sure you are going to get it. You can hear everything upstairs, including conversations through the air ducts. There was movement/noise upstairs until 11pm both nights we stayed there. On our first night at 1130pm we hear someone running across the floor. I did feel like leaving the second night but, the kids were already in bed while the noise was going on upstairs. I was given the opportunity to leave but, it was already late.
I don't think that the $109 rate per night was good for the amenities that were provided.
I will still use airbnb but, will not be staying with Nayeem again.
First of all, thanks for staying at my place. I always appreciate good feedback and I am always trying to make my guests happy. However, let me address some of your comments as they are factually incorrect. I have never advertised that I have a writing desk or a coffee maker. I just setup both of them but it was never advertised when you visited. You may have seen in other ads. I have clearly mentioned in my ad that I have a micro fridge and a microwave. Again, whatever I have I advertise.
As to showing you how to go to the backyard, honestly I don't think there is anything to show. You just go straight to the backyard. All my guests do. There is no fence. There is nothing. You just walk straight, in fact as you come to the door, you can clearly see the lake.
I have clearly communicated to you that I am leaving for Calgary and my wife will take care of things if needed. You indicated that my response was poor. You have never communicated with me while I was in Calgary. When you did communicate I was driving back and responded within 20 minutes. So, you are clearly not honest in your descriptions.
Even though I have two kids, they never make noise at night because I am always mindful of my guests and their comfort. No guests ever complained so far because I care that much. But somehow some noise made you feel bad. I can't just stop walking in my own home.
I have gone above and beyond and let you in within 2 hours of you contacting me. I never do that. I have made sure you have everything you needed. I have asked several times whether everything was good and you indicated it is perfect.
I am really proud of all the great feedback I receive from my guests. I always try to improve. But I am not perfect and I don't claim that I am perfect. It is a matter of respecting each other as we are staying in one house. I try my best.
We had a very enjoyable stay in Nayeem's basement. It was tidy and clean upon arrival, and he was very accommodating to all our needs. He was also very respectful of our privacy. I would definitely recommend this place!
We had a pleasant 3 night stay. The place was big enough for a couple and 3 young kids. It was clean and very cool even on hot summer days. It was in a safe and calm area and fairly close to amenities. We were glad we chose this option as opposed to renting a hotel as we had more privacy. Overall a good experience.
we've been to Nayeem's place last year and decided to come back this year, it was always an easy check in and out at his place, Nayeem was generous in allowing us to check in early, he provided us with what we needed in the place from wifi to bedroom and washroom necessities.totally recommending this to everyone

About the Host, Nayeem
I have fallen in love with this beautiful city of Edmonton. My wife is the love of my life and my two sons are the best thing that happened to me. I work at a bank but I am not a banker! You get the idea. I care for people and I believe humanity trumps everything.
