About This Listing
Amistad is an apartment located on the 5th floor with elevator of a building 's 800 renovated at the end of 80 years, has 3 rooms with a balcony and private bathroom. It can comfortably accommodate up to 7 people plus 2/3 children.
Amistad House is recently restored 5th floor airy flat, in an building dated back to 1860, in the heart of Rome. Few minutes walking from Colosseum (0,5 miles), Roman Forum (0,6 miles), the Lateran (0,7 miles), Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore (0,1 miles). Actually, you can visit by walk all the city, from Amistad. We manage tourism jobs in Rome with proud love since 1995, and we’ll suggest you the best walk-paths to enjoy Rome, even without using once a bus.
Nevertheless, if you really dislike to walk, just get out from the front door, and enter the subway station “Vittorio Emauele” (15 feet ahead the door!). Subway is really cheap (1 €, no matter how long you run) and allows you to reach every important point of the city centre, i.e.: Piazza di Spagna in 5 minutes, Vatican in 9 minutes, the Lateran 2 minutes, etc. You can even use subway to get to the beach (45 minutes), or to the archeological ruins of the ancient roman
harbour Ostia (50 minutes).
Main train station “Termini” is also very close (0,3 miles, or 2 minutes by subway). From this station, the biggest one in Italy, it’s easy to reach Naple, Florence, Pisa, Venice, and quite all Italian towns. Frequent trains run regularly to the international airports “Leonardo Da Vinci” (Fiumicino – FCO), and “Pastine” (Ciampino – CPO).
We are just over the top of Colle Esquilino (one of the famous seven hills), in an area called for “the heart of Rome” by writers such as Carlo E. Gadda, and Amara Lakhous. Roman nobleman Mecenas built his gorgeous villa here; today, people from all over the world here walk, work, and enjoy. The ancient Arch of Gallienus (3rd c.) and famous restaurants Trattoria Monti and Agarta e Romeo are next to our door. Events, concerts and festivals occur very often in the park of next square (piazza Vittorio), few steps away. All around, dozens of stalls sell flowers. Shops, supermarkets, snack-bars, the most inexpensive discount in Italy (“MAS”), and many little coloured and happy knick-knackery shops surround the area. Well, come here. You’ll save money, even in buying souvenirs.
Max with his many years of experience, will be happy to welcome you and show you, in addition to tourist trails, also special secret glimpses of the eternal city.

esperienza assolutamente positiva. Max è una persona gentilissima e affabile. Siamo stati davvero bene nel suo appartamento, confortevole, pulito e in un'ottima posizione. Se un giorno dovessimo tornare a Roma di sicuro alloggeremo da lui
Consigliato! 5 stelle
Max is a very good host. The apartment is excellent and the room is very comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped with a stove, microwave, kettle etc. A hearty breakfast was catered for in the morning. The location is excellent and the room is very close to a metro station and a number of supermarkets. its also a pleasant walk to the Colloseum. Max gave us excellent tips on sightseeing in Rome which helped us save a lot of time (very appreciated as we were travelling with a baby). Highly recommendstaying with Max in Rome!!
Max and the apartment were amazing. Great host, great location. We loved our stay in Rome!
My friends and I stayed in Max's place for one night and it was nice. The place is located near the metro so it's quite convenient to travel around. Also the breakfast provided by Max was delicious!
El alojamiento de max estuvo excelente, la habitacion amplia, con calefaccion, nos tenia ricos desayunos, y la cada queda muy cerca del centro de roma!! Todo ok gracias por todo!!
I went on my first European Vacation and used Airbnb the entire time! When looking for places to stay and reading reviews I was looking for specific things, so this review will hopefully be helpful in that way.
Amistad House was perfect! Max had set up a car to pick us up from the airport for a reasonable flat fee. He was up and waiting for us when we arrived, gave us a tour of the place and then sat with us in the kitchen explaining where things were, how far they were and the best ways to get around the beautiful city of Rome.
The room was exactly like the one of the one's pictured. We stayed in the room with 2 twin beds (which are firm), we had a private bathroom with shower in the room, and the radiator in the room was warm. Every morning there was tea, coffee and delicious pastries on the table in the kitchen for breakfast.
The place was super close to everything, which made walking and/or taking the public transportation incredibly convenient.
For those that it matters to: Amistad House is like a super nice hostel with a private room. There are other people who stay there with you in their own rooms, but the only thing communal is the kitchen.
For anyone not used to a "big city" vibe the area could seem intimidating, but don't worry the area is very safe. My friend traveling with me is also female and we would walk home late some nights and were never bothered.
For me this place was A++ and would definitely stay here again!
