The Space

Our property is a completely remodeled 2 story brick town home just 2 miles south of downtown Durham, 5 miles north of the Research Triangle Park, and 8 miles from Downtown Chapel Hill. The room is fully furnished with a queen size bed, desk, chair and a spacious closet.

Our town home is very conveniently located just 2.5 miles from Duke West campus and 2.2 miles from Duke East Campus and about 8 miles from UNC (University of North Carolina Chapel Hill).

All these amenities make our place nice and cozy but what makes it unique is actually our warm hospitality.

We are very flexible with our guest about check in/check out time, not continuing booking days, refund, etc. Just inquiry about the place and we can work it out together.

You can cancel your reservation up to 24 hours before the check-in date and get a full refund via Airbnb website including cleaning fee (Airbnb service fees are non-refundable for guests).

Please ask us or check the https://www.airbnb.com/home/cancellation_policies#flexible for more info.

Guest Access

Guests have access to a shared kitchen with refrigerator, a cozy family room with couches, and to a shared bathroom with shower (this full bathroom is adjacent to the room and you will share it with Ana and me). There is an additional 0.5 bathroom downstairs that can be used by guests (if you rather use this as your private bathroom is fine with us, just ask).

Interaction with Guests

Ana and I strive to make your stay with us outstanding. If you like privacy we would be the most private and respectful hosts. If you feel social we are always open to have dinner with guests (we cook amazing Italian and Mexican food) and take them out in Durham or Chapel Hill for a coffee or beer and show you the city and what is available in the area (this turned our very useful for some guests who came to the Research Triangle for job or school interviews).

The Neighborhood

The neighborhood is very safe, quiet and green while it is very well connected to major highways and public transportation.

There is plenty of great diners, restaurants, and cafes in our neighborhood. We suggest Foster's market, Guglhupf German bakery, BBQ Shack, Happy China, Thai Cafe, and Wine Authorities.

All of these venues are just walking distance from our place. Free parking, a shared pool, and a shared BBQ area complete the great features of this listing.

Getting around

Our neighborhood is conveniently located near Durham downtown and Chapel Hill and just 20 minutes from the Research Triangle Park.

There is a bus stop (Durham Data 10A and 10 B lines) is just across the street with direct ride to Durham downtown and South Square shopping area.

Hwy 15/501 (which will take you to Chapel Hill in 15/20 minutes) and Interstate 40 are less than 5-minute drive.

  • Nicola & Ana were very easy to schedule with, and they have a beautiful town home! I booked their place for my mom and sister when they came in town for my graduation. They both really enjoyed their stay (my mom claims they were her "adopted family" for the weekend). The location is great, right next to Foster's Market and Guglehupf, both amazing breakfast/lunch places. Very close to Duke--about 12 minutes or less. I also appreciated them being very flexible with the check in and check out times.

  • Apartment is new, clean; bed comfortable, room w/ac; only a few minute's drive from Duke U my destination. Hosts very gracious, welcoming, accommodating--even shared milk for my cereal. I stayed 3 days for my class reunion, was busy as were they so we didn't get much chance to talk. But they were very friendly when we did and respected my space. Highly recommend Nocola and Ana--great hosts.

  • This was my first experience with Airbnb and I could not have made a better choice!!
The room is really spacious with all the amenities you would need, but the best thing is the bed! It's so confy that could be really hard to get off from it!

The neighbourhood is also very nice e quiet, and the house has a DATA BUS stop just in front of it (the bus brings you directly to the Durham bus station and with 2$ you can buy a daily ticket for unlimited rides).

While to describe Nico & Ana, it's enough to say that you would find two Friends , with the capital F, and a very nice couple!!

    Thanks for all!!

  • This was seriously a no-brainer. I decided to make a last-minute business trip to Raleigh-Durham, and had stayed with Nico and Ana the last time I was here. I had such a great experience then that I didn’t even bother to check anywhere else and immediately went straight to see if they were able to accommodate on short notice, which they graciously were. It was great to catch up and see that they were doing very well and we realized we have a lot in common as far as things going on in our lives :) It’s good to know someone in this area if I travel here again. Let me know if you make it out to Boston!

  • Nicola and Ana's place was so great! They were really nice people who were so welcoming and kind. I felt right at home in their apartment, and they were kind enough to show me around town and we went out for drinks/dinner. Very nice, hospitable people!
The apartment itself is very well-located.. a quick 10-minute drive to Duke campus.. in a safe, nice neighborhood. The apartment is super clean, very spacious and just an overall nice place. The room has all of the amenities you would need for your stay (comfy bed, desk, etc), and the hosts are nice enough to provide some breakfast and coffee too! This is the BEST place to stay while visiting Durham if you are looking for a homey, comfortable experience with the 2 best hosts in the city! Thank you for a great experience, Nicola and Ana!

  • I could not have possibly been any more fortunate to have found Nico & Ana on Airbnb! They deserve 10 stars, even though I can only give them a max of 5. I came to Raleigh-Durham for some business, and I was initially looking at area hotels, and when I came to realize how rotten or insanely expensive most of the options were, I turned to Airbnb. I wish I had just looked at Airbnb from the start. Nico and Ana went well above typical hosting duties. I got to know them a little bit throughout my stay, and I always felt more like a friend staying at another friend's house, as opposed to a hotel guest. We shared some good stories and laughs, and seems like we have a lot in common, especially on our international and traveling perspectives! Their home was conveniently located to both UNC and Duke, and this was a savior, as one day, I forgot some items for my meeting at Duke, and was quickly able to run back to the home and back to Duke in less than 20 or so mins. Later, I went to the outer banks for scuba diving, and they were very flexible with my schedule in allowing me to leave some items at the house while I was away (BTW, during this trip, I ended up staying in a rather average motel, which really made me appreciate the cleanliness and hospitality of Nico and Ana even more!). They again exceeded typical hosting duties by inviting me out for drinks on the town with some of their friends on my last night, which was awesome and a great way to socialize and relax after a hectic few days. I honestly could not have asked for a better experience - Nico and Ana are, in my opinion, precisely what the Airbnb experience is all about. Do not waste a second looking at other properties, and just book with them! :) I hope to host them in Boston or cross paths with them again in Raleigh-Durham.

  • It's a clean, convenient and charming place, as pictures showed. Ana is super nice and gave lots of advices for us. It only takes a couple of minutes driving to Duke campus and restaurants, and less than 30 minutes to RDU airport. I would contact Ana if I visit Durham next time.

About
We are Nicola and Ana. We moved to Durham, NC from California and have been using Air B&B for some time now. We are not new to hospitality and traveling, though. We have been happy Couch Surfer for years and we hosted dozens of people at our previous place in California, near Yosemite National Park. We have traveled throughout Europe, the US, Mexico, and South America and we have always found amazing people along our route. Nicola works for Duke University as a postdoctoral researcher, Ana works in a company in the Research Triangle Park dealing with Life Sciences.
