Guests can access the shared bath and kitchen. You are welcome to 'make yourself at home' and cook while you are here, or do a load of laundry. There is a shared wireless printer which guests are welcome to use for travel/business reasons in the lounge.
When I am home I am more than happy to provide advice and support, but I am often not at home (especially at evening meal times) and I completely understand if you want me out of your hair. Unless otherwise indicated, I will be sleeping in the flat during your stay.
Jericho is a wonderful little neighbourhood, with pubs, shops and families all closely snuggled in together.
In the summer there are beautiful canal walks to Port Meadow and a number of pubs and restaurants with outdoor eating.
In the winter, I am one block from a pub with a roaring fire and cozy board games.
Public transport is easy, private parking not so much. The flat is an easy 10 minute walk from Oxford rail station along the canal, and also and easy 10 minutes from Gloucester Green coach station. A taxi anywhere in city centre is usually about £5.
'The airline' coach runs a good service between Heathrow and Gatwick.
Depending on your length of stay it is safer for your car to leave it at one of the city's park and rides. On street parking is available, but in limited supply and very fiddly if you want to keep costs down.
Eliot the cat lives here as much as I do. We both stay out of the guest room, but if you have allergies be aware.
Do not let Eliot out.
Because of Eliot, and the fact that there is no garden, pets are not easily accommodated, although they are not unwelcome. Please ask.
The flat was just as advertised, and had everything we needed. Stephanie and Cliff were good hosts, and allowed us to drop our luggage off early, which was a big help. The area (Jerico) was fun to explore, and had a number of interesting pubs and restuarants.
My husband and I loved staying here for 2 weeks in the summer. The apartment is spacious, bright, and very clean. Amenities are just as advertised, and the neighborhood the best possible combination of quiet and peaceful, yet close to the lively Jericho pubs and restaurants, and a pleasant walk to the busy town center. Stephanie and her boyfriend Cliff were extremely welcoming and helpful. Elliot the cat is also very friendly and cuddly! We would love to come back.
Stephanie was wonderfully welcoming--comfortably casual. She invited us to use the kitchen or living room, provided toiletries as needed, and was warm and pleasant. Eliot the cat was hilarious--funny and quirky and very friendly. The room was homey and the location is quite excellent.
Stephanie's private room was exactly as described and was absolutely perfect for my one night in Oxford. It is located within walking distance from the train station and is located next to very cute pubs. I would recommend this listing to anyone looking for a clean and quiet place to stay close to downtown Oxford (walking distance). My only regret is that I could not stay longer.
As a host, Stephanie was absolutely lovely! My booking request was made last minute and her prompt response made my trip to Oxford feasible. She then went out of her way to meet up with me the next afternoon so I could drop my bags and explore the city.
Fabulous place. Fabulous host.
While Stephanie was out of town, her partner Cliff was able to be at the apartment to let me in. He was welcoming, and very helpful in orienting me to the apartment and the area. Got me a fan and basically helped me settle in as needed.
Our host made us feel very welcome, despite our having arrived much later than planned due to work. The study bedroom was as described, and is located in a quiet backstreet of Jericho, whilst still close enough to walk to the centre.
Easy-going hosts, even with our departure time, which again, was later than planned after a long evening at an Oxford summer ball. Tea and coffee were always available in the kitchen and we were free to come and go as we pleased without pressure.
I had a great stay. The room is very spacious and tidy. Stephanie and Cliff were great hosts. They were very friendly and helpful and let me feel like it was my home too. The location of the house is also very good so i would recommend this room to everyone. Thank you Stephanie!
