Interaction with Guests
When I am home I am more than happy to provide advice and support, but I am often not at home (especially at evening meal times) and I completely understand if you want me out of your hair. Unless otherwise indicated, I will be sleeping in the flat during your stay.
Jericho is a wonderful little neighbourhood, with pubs, shops and families all closely snuggled in together.
In the summer there are beautiful canal walks to Port Meadow and a number of pubs and restaurants with outdoor eating.
In the winter, I am one block from a pub with a roaring fire and cozy board games.
Public transport is easy, private parking not so much. The flat is an easy 10 minute walk from Oxford rail station along the canal, and also and easy 10 minutes from Gloucester Green coach station. A taxi anywhere in city centre is usually about £5.
'The airline' coach runs a good service between Heathrow and Gatwick.
Depending on your length of stay it is safer for your car to leave it at one of the city's park and rides. On street parking is available, but in limited supply and very fiddly if you want to keep costs down.
Other Things to Note
Eliot the cat lives here as much as I do. We both stay out of the guest room, but if you have allergies be aware.
Do not let Eliot out.
Because of Eliot, and the fact that there is no garden, pets are not easily accommodated, although they are not unwelcome. Please ask.
We were made to feel very welcome and Stephanie was very accommodating, especially for a one night stay. On top of all this, the location is only a very short walk from the centre. Would highly recommend to anyone thinking of visiting or staying in Oxford.
I was in Oxford for a 3-day conference in the Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, and it would be hard to find a place more convenient than this. Stephanie was very welcoming, proactively texting me to make sure I knew how to get there from the station, and offering good advice on things to do in Oxford when I wasn't busy with the conference. The room was spacious and quiet, a good place to relax and decompress after a busy day, and the wifi worked well. Elliot the cat is very friendly (coming to bat at my shoelaces whenever I took my shoes off, and begging to sit in my lap when Stephanie wasn't home), though that may be a downside for people who don't like cats.
Everything was just as it was explained. The cat (Eliot) is simply wonderful!
Comfortable with lots of space! The cat was adorable, and we were perfectly located to wander around Oxford.
Stephanie's place was very nice. The room was huge and comfortable. The cat was super cute and sweet. Great location a short walk from the train station and town. She and Cliff were very friendly and welcoming. The wifi worked great.
Stephanie was a welcoming host, she was very accommodating, letting me drop off my bags in the morning before my stay so I didn't have to carry them around for the day.
Her home and the room are lovely and the bed was comfortable. It is in a nice neighbourhood within walking distance of Oxford town centre.
I would highly recommend a stay.
We very much enjoyed talking to Stephanie and Clifford and hugging Elliott the cat. The room was spacious and clean. They had some tourist information ready for us. The area was calm, nice to walk along the canal towards the railway station. The description was accurate for us. So thank you and keep updating the OED ; )
