Upon my arrival, they weren't quite ready for me. I showed up 30 minutes before schedule and they didn't have the place ready yet. Both Marta and her husband (and son, I believe) were kind and accommodating though and even helped me bring my bags in. The place was much smaller than I had expected (but was nice). They have acquired more furniture and knick knacks that fill all the open areas shown in the photos (which was one of the main reasons I had booked this place as I was traveling for photo shoots and needed open space). The bed was very comfortable with more than enough pillows. It lists that there is a washer and dryer but there isn't (perhaps it is in the main house). And although there is a refrigerator and microwave there isn't a sink and no eating utensils or cups or anything. Listing doesn't list the kitchen though so just sharing that info, in case a full kitchen is important to you. Also, people live in the adjacent areas (right next to the loft and Marta and her family live in the main house) - they do try and give you as much privacy as possible though.
My stay wasn't the best due to circumstances out of the host's control… I was greeted by a dozen or so bees all over the front door which made it hard to open the door without them getting in… and of course they did so between screaming, we had to try and kill bees inside the loft and I was stung (and am allergic so that wasn't fun at all). We bought bug fogger and had to try and deal with the situation that way. And the power went out during my photo shoot there (was out for a couple hours and ended up canceling the shoot)…they didn't have a working generator although they did their best to help … the entire area was without power so really out of their control. They brought flashlights and I lit candles inside.
The house is located in a gated community although the security guard waves everyone in so not really secure. During my stay there was a burglary in the early morning hours across the street so police cars were out there most of the day. There is a gate to the residence area though so you can feel safe inside the loft. I would also like to note that although I don't know HOW it happened or if it is related to the location but my rental car ended up with 2 flat tires on the drivers side (air let out) so not sure if someone did that there or it was a coincidence but the rental company had to bring a replacement for me. All in all, the place would be fine for most people, I think it is more of a fluke that I had such a negative experience there and in Miami in general.
Everything was great. Maybe a tv upgrade and a full kitchen would be very useful because the space is amazing! Love the windows of course. The host was very accommodating although I never could find the wireless but I still had good service in there. Would definitely stay here again!
We loved the loft at Casablanca, very beautiful indeed. Marta was very nice with as as well as Mickey, the dog (adorable!). We would highly recommend this place to everyone and we look forward to come back in the future :) Thanks Marta!
I had a wonderful stay at Marta's loft, I will definitely be coming back. She was prompt in her responses and a sweet hostess. The property was beautiful and lush and the loft felt so huge and airy with the high ceilings and tons of natural light. Even better than in the photos. Situated in a good neighborhood, only about 15-20 min drive to south beach, it was close enough but much more peaceful and quiet. Highly recommended.
Marta and her husband are very sweet, welcoming people. I was happy to help them out with a death defying change of the battery in a smoke detector 25 feet up when I arrived at their beautiful home - a bit of a bonding experience! The loft is very calm, with high ceilings, surrounded by plants and trees, and their 'compound' feels like an oasis. I had a car so the distance from miami beach and the design district wasn't difficult to cover, and parking in the gated community is ample and secure. My only slight issue was that the duvet on the bed had no covers on it, but as it was so warm I didn't need it anyway. There were also a lot of mosquitos in the loft, but I guess that's typical of the climate. Overall, it's a charming place to stay, and Marta is a gracious and formidable host.
This place it truly wonderful. If the beach had not been calling my name, I would have happily stayed in the loft all day long reading and listening to music. If you are looking for a little hideaway far enough from the noise, but still close to everything, then this place is perfect. Thank you Marta and Juan Carlos, you were amazing hosts!

My name is Marta Arias and I reside between Miami FL, Los Angeles Ca. And Bogota Colombia.
I have two beautiful grown daughters one lives in Los Angeles, California, the other in a beautiful resort at the beach in Santa Marta! Colombia. The resort's name is GITANA del MAR. (website hidden).
I enjoy spending most of my time playing tennis, or going to the beach. I love Latin music, and romantic comedies. Traveling to visit my daughters is something I try to do once a year or more. I am a kind, giving and compassionate person who loves staying active in the Miami warm weather.
Above all I love opening my homes (one in Miami & one in Bogota) to guests from all over the world. Meeting new people and connecting with other cultures is something that I am grateful to have the opportunity to do.
