SPECIAL NOTE!!! We have construction going on next door but only untill the end of may. We have cut the price in half to reflect this bother. We appoligise for the inconvenience.
We really enjoyed our stay at the tree house. Clean & set amongst many rice fields. They made sure we were looked after! Only downside I can think of, is they were constructing another treehouse next door with work commencing at 9am or so but this wasn't a problem as we wanted to make the most of our days :) thanks!
A great location and a unique experience. They really look after you here, there is always an offer of hot drinks and the breakfast is great. I stayed there on my own and felt safe the whole time.
I fully recommend to anyone considering a stay in Ubud.
We had wanted to visit Bali as a retreat away from the buzz of the city-state. And living in this cosy humble Bamboo Hut definitely delivered that experience. It was a small, simple two-level hut that overlooks a rice padi field, which unfortunately was covered by the overgrown tree shrouts. That didn't bother us because we welcomed the greenery 360 degrees around. The staff were very friendly and had given us a local cellphone for communication. They are prompt and helpful to all our queries and were happy to offer their help even for the little nitty gritty like setting up a wifi pod (which we think you shdn't rely on. Better off buying a SIM card). Also, going up and down the bamboo ladder was a little precarious so we don't recommend this for people with very weak/bad knees. There was some contruction going on behind the hut, but it didn't bother us as we had timed our itenery to head out to the town during the day to avoid dealing with the noise. We had fond memories walking through the pitch darkness past the rice padi fields in the midst of the night, armed only with a torchlight and the sound of the river stream guiding us through, in order to reach our hut. There was no aircon but we honestly didn't think we need one because it was as cooling as it gets at night in the forest. This in our opinion, is how Bali should be experienced, in order to truly develop a higher level of appreciation for the simple beauty of nature.
- beautiful, serene location on the edge of a rice field (except for construction: see below)
- the description of the treehouse is accurate: it is exactly that, a minimal bamboo treehouse. Very beautiful and with authentic character. (Be careful the steps are quite steep leading up to the sleeping area)
- a staff member will meet you at the beginning of a foot path that will lead to the treehouse.
- just outside of the hustle and bustle of Ubud but very close to walk to (10 min walk into Ubud)
- strong wifi (the best we have experienced in Bali so far)
- friendly staff.
- free breakfast (small amount of food but very tasty omelette)
- we were not warned that there is a construction site literally beside the treehouse (attached to the property). Construction and heavy noise started every morning at 9am. However, the workers were friendly and often smiled and said good morning.
- lots of ants (not in bed, thankfully). Toilet is covered in hundreds of ants so we avoided using it as much as we could and used toilets in town at cafes/restaurants. We alerted a staff member and they poured hot water over it immediately, but that only solved the problem for one hour.
- the bathroom looks nice but the handle to the shower falls off easily.
Overall, I think we would have been happier if there was no construction - I am disappointed we were not warned in advance via email. We would not have booked the Airbnb if we had known. However, I think once the adjoining house is complete it could become a really great place. If you are comfortable if nature (and if bugs do not bother you), this place can be perfect for you.
Unique and interesting experience. I 'm not a camper but was interested in experiencing living in a tree house for a night. At fest I was going to stay here by myself but am really happy my friend was able to join me and share the experience with me, as it is located in the middle of the rice field, and I can be a bit of a scaredy cat. Nonetheless, bathroom was clean and everything you needed was there. It's actually quite comfortable for outdoor living.
