Insects and orange walls make this damp dark basement apartment a real gem.

Response from Cheryle:
I've had many, many compliments on the color (sunflower) of the walls. So sorry it was not to your liking. I will fumigate for insects right away. I asked many times if everything was ok and if there was anything you needed or wanted. I certainly would have taken care of bugs if I'd known. All that rain we had while you were here must have caused them to look for cover.

Cheryle was such an incredibly hospitable host, especially when I got incredibly lost (in my own college town)!

We enjoyed our stay at Cheryle's. She was a great host and communicator. She left fruit and flowers for us in the kitchen area. The 1BR basement apartment was well appointed for me, my husband, and our dog with a bedroom, sitting area, dining area + very functional kitchenette, and bathroom with perfect water pressure / hot shower. We very much appreciated that the unit was dog friendly. The location is excellent - you can't beat having a parking space by UNC campus, and walking distance from downtown Chapel Hill / Franklin St.

Cheryle is very accommodating and asked us if we needed anything from the grocery store the day we got there.

Cheryle is an amazingly warm person and my stay was so pleasent mainly because of her. Her place is very convenient if you are at UNC or UNC hospitals and just 10 min pleasant walk to the Franklin street. You can always count on her whenever you needed something! (even baking tips ;) ) and you may even be surprised by dinner served at your doorstep or a beautiful vase of flowers when you are coming back from a long day at work! It would have been so perfect if it wasn't for the spiders and crickets/cockroaches that pay you a visit time to time (im terrified of them and allergy to cobwebs), but that's just me! Anyone who is not affected by them would not even notice! All in all it was very comfortable stay and I have Cheryle to thank for!

I had a great stay here. The location is brilliant: a couple of minutes from the university and pleasant 15 minute walk from Chapel Hill's main drag. Cheryle was a wonderful host, making me feel welcome before I had even arrived and stocking the fridge with breakfast items. The apartment has lots of character and the essentials are covered, i.e. the bed was fine and the shower was hot with good pressure, making this a great place to stay. If you want all right angles and gleaming chrome then perhaps this place is not for you (you might prefer a hotel...) but otherwise highly recommended.

I'm an art consultant living in NC after many years in San Francisco and Paris, France. My house reflects my travels, art collection, etc. I would only want visitors who would respect my belongings. Living in this home is easy and comfortable. It's the way I think things should be. It's a home that enjoys life and happy times.
