The photo is of the beach at Manzanita with Neahkahnie mountain and my daughter Teisha and poodle Sasha. Someone once told Teisha that Neahkahnie means Fire Mountain or, maybe she said that this is what the Native American's who originally inhabited this area call it. Neahkahnie. Either way, it is a beautiful mountain to see from below and Manzanita is equally charming to view from the mountain’s shoulder as you drive over the mountain and into town. Manzanita means ‘little apple” and the town really does have a sweetness to it.
Teisha's Little Beach Cabin is one of the older cabins in Manzanita. To say it is rustic is being fair and for guests who like stainless steel this is not the place for you. It's a hugge kind of place, and feels like an original old timey beach house that has not been updated. If you are in the right frame of mind you will feel welcomed and I invite you to light a fire, settle in with a book, crack some crab, and enjoy time at the beach.
At the other side of the state Richland is as far as you can get from the beach at Manzanita and as close as you can get to the Idaho border. Our roots run deep and long as fifth generation Oregonians originating from Richland Oregon. More fish and slow elk than people but lots of conversation. If you are in the area check out our family place known as Uncle George's. It is a comfortable home in its' original condition. You will feel like you stepped back in time so relax.
