After a busy day exploring the city or a lazy day on the beach, come home to your comfortable room w/private bath. My home is a quiet oasis amid the bustle of vacation activity; a lovely place to return to and relax in after a long day of sightseeing or beach trip.
Your room has a comfortable (firm) queen size bed with a closet for your hanging clothes, and a private bath attached. Beach towels, mats, chairs, umbrella, and a small cooler for your use at the beach are located in the closet - everything you need for a fun day at the beach.
I have guidebooks, maps, the weekly City Paper, as well as other materials you'll find helpful in making your plans to see all that Charleston has to offer!
Enjoy the patio in the backyard, or relax in the living areas if you desire some down time. Help yourself to coffee or tea in the kitchen - and I can always find room in the fridge if you have something you'd like to keep there.
Interaction with guests
I enjoy meeting people and getting to know something about them. However, if you're more reticent, I will happily respect your desire for privacy. This is my home, and I welcome you as I welcome all my friends and family.
Please note that check-in time is flexible; I work part time at Trader Joe's, so I need to have that flexibility for later check-ins on those days that i work. We can chat about our mutual needs for check-in as we go through the booking process. Thanks!
Other things to note
Charleston has a wonderful visitor's center right in the middle of town on Meeting St. with a wealth of information on sightseeing in and around the city. (You can also view the visitor's center online prior to your trip (URL HIDDEN) Check out my guidebook at the bottom of this page to view fun things to see/do w/in 10-30 min of my home.
Also when planning your stay, if you want to fine dine, it's a good idea to make reservations in advance, especially in the summer season and on weekends. Most restaurants in the area use the open table booking application accessible right on their websites. Check out eater charleston online too.
Please, no smoking or pets. It should go without saying, but my expectation is that we will all treat each other with respect. Come and go as you like - I enjoy myself when I travel and want only the same for my guests. So, come visit! I look forward to meeting you.

As a military "brat," I grew up all over the US, and also in a couple of overseas posts. Spent most of my adult life in Maryland raising two daughters.
After working 18+ years for a local government (legislative branch) in Maryland, I got a chance to early retire, and I took it! I have family in South Carolina, and after a lifetime of driving up and down I95, I decided it was time to get closer to them. The historic city of Charleston was the perfect fit for me. With its wealth of history to explore, and its proximity to lovely local beaches, how could I resist?
Aside from history, I enjoy gardening, good stories, walking the beach looking for shells, and spending time with people that I enjoy.
Love traveling just about anywhere. Places with great natural beauty and an interesting history are right up my alley. I've been fortunate to visit 3 wonderful cities in Italy (Rome, Florence and Venice) and Prague in the Czech Republic, as well as many lovely places here in the US.
I hope you'll enjoy getting to know me a little, and I look forward to getting to know you. Thanks for checking out my listing, and enjoy your stay!
