This is a fun, nice sized room in a 3/1 wood and ceramic-tiled house that offers an amazingly comfortable stay and incredible location to explore Austin.
This room has a new queen sized bed, 400-count sheets, fresh colorful towels and a super soft duvet and brand new private air conditioning unit!!
You will have your private room as well as full access to the common areas of the house.
Interaction with Guests
I try to spend some time with every guest. Unfortunately, my job takes me out of town quite frequently. My friend Sara helps me take care of the house and is often at the house to welcome my guests. If you have any questions or concerns before, during or after your stay, please feel free to get in touch with either Sara or myself and we will do our absolute best to get your needs taken care of! We are both more than happy to help!
I live in a historically rich, multicultural, quite little neighborhood. Many of the homes were built at the turn-of-the-century in a semi Victorian style which gives the neighborhood a nostalgic charm. It can seem a little rough around the edges, but it has a very "Keep Austin Weird" vibe. It is close enough to downtown to be very convenient while still being far enough away that you don't hear all the noise when you are ready to call it a night! I'm happy to provide recommendations for cool things to do in and around Austin.
Austin has quite a few options for getting around. Here are the major options:
Capital Metro - (website hidden)
BCycle - (website hidden)
Car2Go - (website hidden)
Uber - (website hidden)
Lyft - (website hidden)
And of course, you can always walk! Down town has some great things to see, and sometimes the best way to experience that is on foot!
I ask that guests remember that this is not a hotel, and things don't work the exact same in this situation as they do with a large corporation hotel. I ask that everyone use common courtesy and respect and to treat my home how you would expect yours to be treated.
Julia was fantastically responsive, and even worked to accomodate me as my plans changed last minute. The room was clean and comfortable (even though it was cold outside!) and the house was in an absolutely perfect location for walking exploration of the hip eastern side of town. Such an easy and fun experience thanks to Julia.
The living conditions are pretty basic. It was clean and cozy but very small. I stayed in one of the rooms overnight and felt a bit claustrophobic. There was not enough space even for stacking my belongings.
Noise from neighboring rooms and a shared bathroom makes it feel like a hostel. However, the price was similar to a decent hotel room. Overall, I don't think it was a good value for money
This is the second time that I decided to stay at this listing, and I couldn't be happier! The room was clean, tidy, and I had everything I needed while I was there. Highly recommended!
Honestly it reminded me of the time I went to Mexico. Good by their standards, but by US standards barely acceptable. For the $60 or so a night you'd spend here, I'd grab a hotel off of like expedia or something. But the novelty makes it appealing to some people I suppose.
This was me and my girlfriend's first experience with airbnb and we were very pleased with how our Austin trip went and how helpful Julia was. She was not physically there but she sent me very detailed emails on what to do and what to expect, not to mention a whole booklet in the house that provides info on transportation and bars/restaurants locations to go to. The place was clean and very comfortable. The house was driving or biking distance to a lot of the must sees in Austin. A few small negatives would be the one bathroom for 3 rooms and the neighborhood around the house wasn't all too great but we didn't really have an issue with it. Overall I would recommend this to a friend and may be tempted to go back when an Austin trip is in the air.
I was there for 7 days and the owner never greeted me, but I didn't mind. The room was small looked just like the pic and the bed was comfy. However there was no heat in the common areas including the bathroom. There was one (1) space heater that did not warm the living/dining area. I requested that the owner bring another heater for the bathroom because it was very disturbing to use the bathroom when it was icy cold. She brought an additional space heater again not powerful enough to heat the house. All rooms have space heaters as well; but the rooms are small enough that the heater works well. The location was great in a hip hood w lots of happenings steps away.
The owner also complained when I used the candles that she provided and requested that I pay additional moneys for normal use of a perk she provided. The candles were half or more used so clearly others burned the candles so I am unclear regarding her complaint. Do NOT stay here in the winter,y however in the summer may not be wise either as the only cooling unit is in the common area and there are no ceiling fans in the rooms. But great location.
I wanted to take a moment to respond and clarify a few things.
The candles were available to burn, however, they were provided on the only shelf with the clearance to allow a safe burning. The candles were burnt on every shelf and left burn marks above where they were burnt. There was a layer of smoke residue on every inch of the room. When we brought in some professional smoke damage experts to clean the room and to be sure that there was no lingering smells from the smoke they informed is that the candles had burned for several hours unattended. This conclusion was made after we discovered that the fire alarm had been set off due to the amount of smoke and that there was a thick enough layer of smoke residue on the walls that no one would have been able to be in the room with the amount of smoke needed to leave that thick of a layer on the walls and stay conscious.
As for the heating and cooling, all guests so far had let us know that the heaters were sufficient as the house is too old to run central heating and air, so we thought that they would suffice. That we mow know that not to be the case, we can work towards better accommodating. As for cooling, there is a brand new window unit ac waiting to be put in. We decided to wait until after the cold season, as it made no sense at this time.

Hey ya'll! My name is Julia, I am a Brazilian and your host for Julia's Bed & Breakfast. I am passionate about opening the city up to people who are new to Austin and for those who are simply coming back for a visit. Music, art, theater, and film are all interests of mine so I keep up with all of the venues and upcoming events happening in town. I love to recommend places to eat (like "Juan in a Million" my personal favorite), things so see (like the bats underneath the South Congress bridge), cocktail bars (like the prohibition style bar "Eastside Showroom"), fun actives (Lake Austin has tons of water related ones to try) and events to attend. I make it a priority to make sure you have a safe, comfortable and enriching stay with us. Please feel free at anytime to contact me with any questions, requests or comments you may have, I would love to hear them, take care!
