Our Gulfport cottage is approximately 1000 square feet, and has two bedrooms (one with a queen-sized bed, the other with a full-size bed), one bathroom, an open living room/dining room, full kitchen, and Florida room with bar. The living room sofa can double as a comfortable bed for an extra guest. It has an open floor plan with a great feeling of spaciousness.
Gulfport Guest Cottage is furnished with our own furniture and accessories so that it feels like your own comfortable home. Our recently remodeled kitchen is fully equipped for cooking, serving and entertaining. The cottage has central a/c and heat, ceiling fans, cable television, private parking, spa/hot tub in garden, gas barbecue grill, iron/ironing board, hair dryer, and a washer/dryer onsite. All towels and linens are provided. Wireless internet access is available in the cottage and at several nearby locations, including the coffee shop in the Village.
Our yard is fenced in, and we welcome well-behaved dogs! (We have two small older dogs ourselves that are very friendly.)
From the cottage, you can easily walk to Beach Blvd. and the Waterfront Arts District where you'll find cute, independent boutiques, art galleries and more than a dozen restaurants in what has become a major dining destination in the Tampa Bay area.
Gulfport has nightspots that offer live music all week long. On Shore Blvd., stroll along the beach overlooking Boca Ciega Bay. Watch the sunset over the Don CeSar in the distance. Gulfport Guest Cottage is just a short walk from the Gulfport Marina and Clam Bayou Nature Park, great for kayaking, strolling and bird-watching. Clam Bayou is part of the Great Florida Birding Trail.
Gulfport also has fun and lively events throughout the year. Art Walks occur on the first Friday and third Saturday evening of each month, with local artists lining the sidewalks of Beach Blvd., displaying and selling their work. Our Fresh Market happens every Tuesday, with more than fifty vendors that offer a variety of foods, bath and body products, arts and crafts, and live music. There are also special annual festivals throughout the year, including GeckoFest, SpringFest, Aquamania!, 4th of July Celebration, Bluesfest, Holiday Hoopla, and the Get Rescued animal-rescue festival.
Just a short drive away, you'll find downtown St. Petersburg, the Dali Museum, the Gulf Beaches, Clearwater, Tampa, Ybor City, and Busch Gardens. Orlando, Disney, Universal Studios and LegoLand are just two hours away by car. Sarasota is a one-hour drive.
We are very familiar with Gulfport and the surrounding area and would be happy to offer information and suggestions during your stay.
Our Gulfport vacation cottage is the perfect home away from home during your visit to Florida's Gulf Coast. It's ideal for individuals, couples or small groups or families. We are not "professional landlords." We just have an extra home on our property that we enjoy offering to visitors. We'd love to welcome you to Gulfport for your next visit.
Interaction with Guests
Our own home is on the same property, a few yards separate from the guest cottage with a leafy arbor between the two. We are always very respectful of the privacy of our guests.
The cottage is located in Gulfport's Waterfront Arts District. It is a lovely little slice of small-town, "Old Florida" charm. Gulfport started as a fishing village in the 19th century and today is home to an eclectic assortment of friendly locals, with a high concentration of artists. Most homes are of the small, colorful cottage variety. Many of the streets are brick-paved, and huge, mature oaks and other trees, draped with Spanish moss dot the landscapes. It is very LGBT, pet and family-friendly. We have one of the friendliest, live and let live communities that we have ever known here.
The hub of Gulfport along Beach and Shore Boulevards is a pleasant 10-minute stroll from the cottage. Here you'll find an array of small, independent businesses, including shops and galleries and over a dozen restaurants concentrated within a few blocks. This "downtown" area has no chain stores and no parking meters. We also host a weekly Fresh Market here on Tuesdays, a twice-monthly Art Walk, and a variety of special events throughout the year.
Our own Gulfport Beach on Boca Ciega Bay is located here, along with Williams Pier for fishing or sunset-viewing as well as the Gulfport Casino (not the gambling kind of casino, but a dance hall and event venue) which was recently listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Clam Bayou Nature Park and the Gulfport Marina are only a couple of blocks from our cottage and offer some great walking, bird-watching, kayaking and boating opportunities.
We also love that our location is so convenient to the Gulf of Mexico Beaches in one direction, and downtown St. Petersburg and Tampa/Ybor City/Busch Gardens in the other direction.
We LOVE Gulfport and also love to share it with others. Through Airbnb and our guest cottage, we have had the pleasure of introducing Gulfport to many people who have fallen in love with it themselves. We hope you will have a chance to visit and see for yourself.
The guest cottage has its own private driveway for one vehicle (or two compact cars) located off the alleyway which runs behind the property.
The property is only a few minutes from I-275.
There are public transportation options by PSTA bus service.
Within Gulfport, you may also wish to use the SWOOP free transportation service (tip only) if you have mobility challenges, or if you've had one too many at Salty's or O'Maddy's or Neptune, etc...!
Well behaved dogs ok. Sorry no cats due to sensitivities of other guests. Please do not let our pets into your guest cottage.
We do not permit smoking indoors. You are welcome to smoke on your porch or deck, or in the Florida room as long as the door is closed.
Check in is 3pm and check out is 11am unless we are able to accommodate and approve otherwise in advance. We request that you let us know your approximate arrival time a few days in advance so that we can be prepared to meet you when you arrive, if we are able. If you can also give us a call or text when you land at the airport or are about 30 minutes away by car, we would appreciate it.
We had a great and easy stay at the lovely cottage! Daniel is a warm and welcoming host! He showed us all important things and in the cottage is everything you need for a calm stay!
I definitely will stay in the cottage again while my next visit!
Fab-u-lous! The coattage is lovley and even better than the photos. Gulfport and the St Petersburg area is delightful and quirky. We had avery chilled few days and would definitely return. Daniel was very welcoming and gave us great recommends for food and places to see. Thank you for a great stay x
We had a great visit. The house is charming and has every single thing you'd need for a comfortable visit. It is close to town and has a great little back yard.
My cousin and I had a great experience staying at this guest house. Daniel was very responsive through e-mail/text and had plenty of brochures and guides about the surrounding attractions. The house itself was very cozy and makes you feel right at home. It was very well-stocked with towels, linens, silverware, etc., and the kitchen was very modern. It's located close to waterfront restaurants like O'Maddy's and shopping centers as well. There's a private driveway or plenty of off-street parking if you have a car. I'd gladly recommend this cottage to potential travelers!
We had a great girl's weekend at Daniel's guest home! It was eclectic, cozy and close to town. Daniel was really great by responding quickly to questions and giving us recommendations for restaurants. It was less than a 15 min drive to downtown St. Pete as well. Would recommend friends to stay here if they find themselves in Gulfport!
My friend and I enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Daniel provided all the information we needed prior to our arrival. Upon arriving, we were warmly greeted, and felt right at home. The cottage is appointed exactly as described. We were very comfortable right away, and everything we needed was there. The kitchen has more in it than I probably have at my own home! It's a short walk into the town area where there are many choices for dining and shopping. The beach area is also very pleasant. The neighborhood is very quiet, with the occasional sounds of a residential neighborhood (lawn care equipment, trash pickup, etc.). We really liked sitting in the yard listening to the sounds of the wind chimes, watching the cats chase squirrels, and relaxing. This cottage would be perfect for a couple or two, or a small family. Everything you need is here, it feels very homey, and it's a short drive for groceries, or to see sites.
We stayed at the Charming Gulfport Cottage for 10 days at the end of Oct 2014. Everything was great. The cottage was very clean, and comfortable. We loved being able to park our rental car right outside of the cottage and walk to town whenever we wanted. The streets are charming and the town is fun. Our weather was perfect. I spent many afternoons water-colour painting outside on the patio, enjoying the sunshine, breezes and visits with the puppies! Thanks for the lovely stay. Hope to return!
My partner Mike and I LOVE Gulfport, we are very active in our community, and we love sharing it with others. We think we live in one of the greatest little towns there is. We love travelling ourselves and love using Airbnb to find places to stay when we travel near or far.

"I dare say you haven’t had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.’”
