The space
You'll probably feel completely at home, as I live in a private space downstairs with my two indoor /outdoor cats. You will have use of bedroom, shared bathrooms, living room, kitchen, deck and yard. You can have complete privacy or you can interact with anyone who might be around. You'll find everything you need to use in the kitchen and a Keurig coffee maker and electric tea pot in the living room. The house /kitchen is not new or elegant, but it is functional and accessible. There is a conservation area with a small pond across the street, which is a one mile circle, perfect for walking or jogging. Safe and friendly neighborhood with lots of open space.

Where you’ll be

Amherst, Massachusetts, United States

The neighborhood is average economically, lots of teachers and other working folks. It is ethnically diverse with people from all over. Yards are well kept, for the most part, and very green with lovely flower gardens in the summer. street is a one mile circle in a safe, friendly neighborhood. People walk the circle at all hours of the day and evening, with kids, dogs, friends or alone. The conservation area with a small pond is across the street. It is all very tranquil, with a picnic table where you can sit and view the water lilies and listen to the bullfrogs in mating season. Behind the pond there is a large field for playing frisbee or letting your dog run around. You may park on the street across from my house facing east (left) or in the driveway on the left (so as not to block me in or out). Please never turn around in the neighbors' driveways. One mile to the east is Rt. 116 (West St) that runs between U Mass, Hampshire College and Mt. Holyoke College. At the intersection are several restaurants and a gas station /convenience store. Two miles to the west is Rt. 9 (Russell Road) leading to Northampton and Smith College, about a 10 minute drive. On or near the Rt. 9 intersection you will find 7 food stores, movie theater, Marshall’s, TJ Max, Target, etc. and 2 Malls.

Hi! I'm Dael, a retired high school Spanish teacher living in Amherst, MA. I speak some French, Italian and Portuguese in addition to Spanish, and travel whenever I can. People from all over the world have stayed in my home and I love meeting them! My three rescue kitties traveled from southern Turkey to be with me. I am quiet, clean and a respectful guest and hostess. In the summer I spend a lot of time working in the yard and the above ground pool; during the school year I rent to students and manage the house, swim at the gym, travel, read and enjoy time with friends. I am interested in alternative information about politics, science, economics, health, etc. and love to go to conferences and learn more about how the world really works. I'm crazy about animals and wish I could help them even more.

During your stay

I'm happy to help in any way that I can, so please text or call me and I'll come right up to see you. You can also call down the stairs, but I may not hear you if I'm in the basement, so call loudly. Please do not come down to my private space unless beckoned to do so.
