This charming apartment is situated in the traditional barrio of Monserrat. The area is well known for its colonial architecture, restaurants, cafes and pleasant residential living.

The Space

Studio on the top (fourth) floor with its own entrance, totally private, complete with Queensize double bed and the possibility of adding a single bed in the main room, and a single mattress up a few steps in the loft for a fourth person .
I do not accept babies or children under 7 years.
Also, kitchen, with stove, toaster, kettle and utensils, the microwave and small fridge are in the dining room area .
2 bathrooms with shower, toilet and bidet, your first toilet roll and a little soap; also dining room/lounge area with a TV, table with 4 chairs and Wi-Fi internet connection. Linen and bath towels are provided. The studio cannot accommodate more than 4 and is not suitable for 2 couples, (one double bed and 2 separate singles).
Due to the high ceilings and tall windows the apartment is relatively cool in the summer months; however I can offer a large free standing fan if required.
In the cooler months, the apartment is cosy with the windows closed, gets morning sun and I provide sufficient blankets including an electric blanket and a comforter to not be cold; there is also a bar heater if necessary.
On the bus route to everywhere and walking distance to all the main tourist attractions of the city; metro stations, 4 blocks away(10 min walk) and a Parking garage across the street . I am not permitted to give an exact address on here until the reservation is confirmed, all I can say is that it is on Mexico St, between San Jose and Saenz Pena and in the same block as Sabatico Hostel.
We are surrounded by great restaurants to suit all tastes and pockets; also supermarket, bakery , news stand, internet cafe , fruit+veg and a laundromat ($3, wash, dry and fold) in our block..
Daily cleaning service is NOT provided.
I have not been living in Buenos Aires very long, almost 3 years, but can be of as much assistance as possible regarding all the activities in the city; I am well connected through my business, Argentina Horse Adventures..
I look forward to sharing the magic of this city with you !!

Guest Access

Due to the name of the company, Airbnb, some guests expect that it is a bed and breakfast; this is not the case; some hosts may include it in their amenities but I do not; the kitchen is sufficiently equipped for making your own breakfast ; I do supply a little tea, coffee and sugar to get you started; there are supermarkets in my block or great inexpensive cafes which serve breakfast.

Interaction with Guests

I do a great introduction with info on check in, then I let the guests do there own thing and am always available for additional help, info and advice; I live in the apartment next door on the same floor. There is a large selection of maps, guide books and tourist info in the drawer next to the bed.
I can offer the use of a simple local cellular phone and public transport travel card if required. I suggest you download (website hidden) if you have a smart phone and buy some credit for the simplest contact solution, also Whatsapp as I have good wifi as so do most cafes, restaurants and bars in BA.

The Neighborhood

This is the real Buenos Aires, a middle class, safe , non touristic, residential neighbourhood, with local , traditional restaurants and prices to suit the locals.
Conveniently situated for local transport and walking distance to many historical sites in the city.
My building is one of the classical style from the previous century, a rare find in BA.
Added security for our area is having the Buenos Aires police headquarters one block from the apartment.

Getting around

To get from the international airport, Ezeiza Taxi Official , has a fixed price and is the most convenient; their booth is situated directly as you walk out of the baggage claim and customs gate; if you require further options, I supply the links after confirmation. If you are arriving by long distance bus to Retiro station, you can either get a regular taxi which should only be a few dollars as the studio is close or public bus 23 from outside the terminal, comes almost to my door; make sure you have Argentine coins, approx 5 pesos per person .
Public buses to everywhere in our block; subway 10 min walk, 24hr taxis right outside our door, bicycle hire and tours in our block and a parking garage across the street if you hire or own a car.

Other Things to Note

Early or late check in/out is possible but depends on the previous or following guests; guests wishing to arrive or leave at extreme times, should book and pay for another day. Extreme times are as follows:
Check in : 12 midnight - 09.00h
Check out: 19.00h or later
Guests are welcome to leave their bags next door with me for early or late check in/out when convenient for me, just ask.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • This was my first time using Airbnb, and its was a great experience renting Davids studio appartment in Monserrat, Buenos Aires. He responded very quickly to me everytime I had any question, and was helpfull, giving good advice. When I came, he had put some food in the fridge and even baked bread. That is nice when you are tired from travelling many hours! I wanted quiteness and privacy to do some writing at the same time exploring the barrio and Buenos Aires. The studio suited my purpose very well. The neighbourhood has many bars and restaurant where you mostly find Argentinians, not tourists, a laundry service 50 meters from the appartment, all in all, everything you need . If you fancy tango danced by amateurs, there is a milonga called El nino bien (Thursdays) 10 minutes walk from the appartment. A little longer, but also within walking distance you will find the theatre district. I certainly would like to return some other day. So I recommend David as a host and also the appartment.

  • David was an excellent host. He is friendly and flexible (we arrived several hours before we indicated that we thought we would, and he didn't miss a beat.). He welcomed us with a loaf of freshly baked bread, and then an invitation into his apartment for a quick visual orientation to the streets and businesses in the immediate area (from his balcony). He was quite personable and available as needed for advice and suggestions.

David's apartment is an excellent option for anyone looking for budget accommodations in a safe and centrally-located space in Buenos Aires. It's not particularly fancy, but it's more than adequate and faithfully represented by the photos here. The elevator made the 4th-floor location no problem at all, and if you're traveling during Argentina's winter you will love the endless supply of hot water in the shower!

    I'd definitely stay here again.

O bairro é muito gostoso, com muitas opções de restaurantes, transporte, etc!

    Até breve!

  • Arriving seven hours late, following a delayed flight, David welcomed us with fresh beer bread hot out the oven. Nothing was ever too much trouble and this made our stay with David a pure joy.

The room itself came with everything you could need, complete with a rather old and charming elevator that requires a gentle touch.
The location is great for exploring avenue de mayo and av 9 de julio, with access to the cities subway only a short 5 minute walk.
Just around the corner is a delightful little place to grab breakfast, cafe Monserrat.

If your looking for a central place in buenos aires, which is nice and quiet, without breaking the bank look no further.

  • I have been traveling many times to Buenos Aires and Argentina, and I really enjoyed my stay at David's place. Well centralized, located in Montserrat area, the place is on the fourth and top floor of a beautiful old building served with an elevator. The loft is clean, spacious, light, private and quiet, exactly what David's words are saying. The area is safe. I received a nice welcome from David, including a bus cards which allows you to move around in the city and a beautiful homemade bread, cooked by himself. David is a gentleman, and I would definitively recommend his place.

  • We enjoyed our stay. Basic but large and bright apartment with great character. Important to note the washer isn't in your apartment but in the host's place next door.

  • Very nice practical appt in Monserrat, just a few minutes to walk to Plaza de Mayo, close to everything incl shops, subway, bars, restaurant and supermarkets. The B.A. tourbus stops right around the corner. David was a friendly and helpful host offering lots of local expertise and advice.

  • David is the best host! He welcomed me and took good care of me. His place is in a great location. Just a walk away from the metro and subway station. Also, this place is surrounded by great restaurants, shops, and mini markets. You can't ask for a better place or a better price.
