Peace and quiet

Guests say this home is in a quiet area.
Nature House, on Flathead Lake's beautiful Finley Point peninsula, was designed & built for folks who like to chill in the woods. It’s for people who like to watch the water & the clouds move. Who like to soak with their sweetie. And breathe deep in a sauna. Maybe kick a little butt playing shuffleboard. Hopefully all of the above!

The space
Nature House is a welcoming and relaxing personal retreat, perched on a 2 acre wooded hillside on the Finley Point peninsula, overlooking beautiful Flathead Lake. Grab a robe and Turkish towel from the spa-like bathroom, and breathe deep in the outdoor sauna. Enjoy morning coffee and gorgeous views by the fire table on Nature House's expansive deck. Later, cook up dinner on the deck's propane grill. Watch the deer, turkeys, and occasional bear. Look up and see osprey, hawks, and eagles flying and calling overhead. All while gazing out over the beautiful, blue waters of Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake West of the Mississippi.

Nature House is not only a beautiful refuge outside, but inside as well. Designed as a place of respite and rejuvenation for folks looking for a little solitude or for that perfect romantic getaway, Nature House is all about simple comfort. Giant windows make it feel as if you're living in the trees. Enjoy lake and mountain views while unwinding in the concrete soaking tub for two. Let the shower's rain and jet features work their magic on sore, tired muscles. Relax and reconnect.

Nature House features two distinct sleeping areas depending on your mood and needs. Downstairs is a cozy, dark, romantic bedroom with queen size bed and television. Upstairs in the loft, wake up to trees and dazzling lake views in the cloud-like king size bed, and enjoy good conversation or just kicking back in the comfortable sitting area. Along with wireless internet and 50" Smart televisions in the living room and downstairs bedroom, you’ll find a nice selection of books, music, magazines, and games for entertainment. And shuffleboard! There’s an 8’ shuffleboard table in the loft, for those guests with a bit of a competitive streak! A beautiful full kitchen looking over the lake, grill and outdoor seating on the spacious deck, and a stock of basic spices, oils, and condiments, make cooking at home delightful and easy. Love coffee? There's a grinder, French press, traditional drip pot, and coffee grounds all ready for that morning cup!

Finley Point State Park is a quick two miles down the road and is the perfect place to launch your boat, paddle board, or kayak. Or take a short drive on one of the most scenic highways in the country, along the East Shore of Flathead Lake, and explore the waters and orchards of Yellow Bay and Woods Bay. Drive a little further and make a day trip out of Glacier National Park, Whitefish, and Columbia Falls. Check out the galleries, theater, and restaurants in Bigfork… maybe book a sailboat cruise! Head just 8 miles South to Polson to stock up on supplies and grab a burger at Richwine’s Burgerville… locally owned and operated since 1962. Take in the spectacular scenery as you play a round of golf at Polson Bay Golf Course. And check out a couple of my favorite local restaurants: the East Shore Smokehouse and the Finley Point Grill are just down the street. Getting married? Nature House is only one mile from The Barn at Finley Point and is absolutely perfect for honeymooners. An easy 75 miles from Missoula and 45 miles from Kalispell, Nature House is the perfect getaway for locals and visitors alike!

Cozy and warm, designed with nature in mind and a contemporary sensibility, Nature House is all about comfort and connection to the surrounding landscape. Breathe deep and enjoy!

Guest access
Nature House sits at the top of a two acre wooded hillside, and the entire house and the property below it is yours to enjoy. I often stay in the small cabin at the base of the property, but both homes are situated for maximum peace and privacy for all.

WINTERTIME GUESTS: You should plan on having 4WD/AWD and a solid sense of adventure! Depending on conditions, 4WD/AWD is a MUST if you want to make it up (and down!) the driveway via vehicle. I do the best I can to keep the driveway clear and the home accessible, but there are times when Mother Nature will win the battle. You may end up having to park at the first landing area halfway up the hill and hiking in a few hundred yards or on the side of the road at the very bottom of the hill and hiking in a bit further. That said, it is soooo peaceful and lovely in the winter and it's my favorite time of year at Nature House!

Other things to note
Please note: It is very important to me that your stay is comfortable, so there are a few things you should know.

The driveway is steep and it's dirt, but easily accessible Spring through Fall in most vehicles. 4WD/AWD AND A SOLID SENSE OF ADVENTURE ARE MUST IN WINTER CONDITIONS (which can start as early as October and last through March or April).

There is a short, steep uphill walk (takes just a minute or two) on a solar lighted trail from the parking area to the house. There is a short staircase to the bathroom and a full staircase to the loft.

Roku TV apps include Hulu Plus, Disney Plus, ESPN Plus, and Pandora. You are welcome to access other apps with your own account.

Nature House is the perfect place for solo travelers and couples, but it can accommodate up to 4 people. While I adore young children, Nature House is really the ultimate "grown-up" retreat, and children are not allowed.

Regarding Pets: One well-behaved pet is allowed with pet fee. If your pet sheds heavily or is nervous in new situations, I kindly ask that you please consider another option for them. Pets are not allowed on any furniture including the beds, couch, and outdoor sectional. Please clean up after your pet and please do not allow them to chase the wildlife or run loose. Pets are not to be left unattended. If your plans have you out all day, ask me about adding dog walking services to your visit!

Hi, thank you so much for considering Nature House for your visit to beautiful Flathead Lake, Montana! I was lucky enough to have landed in Missoula back in 1997 and fell in love with Flathead Lake soon after. I've always been drawn to the water and the woods, and in 2017, I found this little patch of awesomeness and built a home on it. Nature House is just a dream come true for me and I'm so glad to get to share it with you!
