You will be staying at a Pillow Homes approved property and guests are required to follow the Pillow rules and terms.
Great location. Was VERY hot on arrival as the windows were shut. Couldn't figure out of the fan in the room blew cool air as well, but still a very nice stay. Really you can't beat the location.
At half the price, i suppose this property may be passable by SF standards, given that the location is outstanding, and SF is just too much fun to visit!
Having said that, it was hard to get over our initial disappointment, and how misleading the Pics are. There are no cool/trendy halogen lighting in the hallway (there are a few, but you cant turn them on), just a dark hallway with old heavily stained carpet. The wall art is there, but in person, so small (and dark) you dont notice it.
Pic lighting in the Room/Kitchen are also totally misleading, as it is much darker, older looking and thrown together. The wall art has no lighting, and the nice floors you see in the pics are mostly covered now with a dingy rug. The walls, especially in the bath have been painted/caulked over so many times it looks like worts bursting out. The bathroom shower is almost unusable, with a cheap/half broken curtain hanging around it, and nothing to hang onto. It is actually dangerous, and drips all night.
Worse, it was not cleaned when we arrived (dutifully after 3 pm). Bed unmade, trash spread around and dirty glasses on the table.
After complaining, we had to leave the apt until 6pm, to be cleaned.
I dont think the Pillow service is very meticulous. For instance, they did not even know it was not cleaned. They need to spend more time on the quality of the properties, and less on cheerful texts/emails.
This may also be my lack of understanding of the overall quality/price of what is going on in San Francisco. I paid double what the base rate is for a popular weekend, that reached $500/night!. And even at that price, people told me this kind of property/quality is too often typical of SF airbnb. I list my place on airbnb in Orange County and what i saw would be unthinkable.
So some may say i am being too hard on the property, and i am obviously cranky about it... but the expectations were set high with the photos, and Pillow/airbnb should not be overselling, to avoid other pans like this one.
It was easy to get to the apartment. However I found the apartment not 100% clean, there were some dirty on the corners. Notwithstanding I would consider renting the place again because of its location.
Easy check-in and out with Pillow lockbox around the corner. Great location. Basic amenities. Comfortable.
Very clean, ideal location. Organized service for key collection etc. Couldn't fault it.
Cozy home in a cute neighborhood. Great communication and followup from Pillow as soon as I booked. It was perfect for my one night stay.
