Escape to the peace and quiet of this secluded hilltop villa surrounded by olive groves. With extensive gardens, private pool, and private driveway, this unique place is a relaxing retreat in the midst of the bustling Italian Riviera!

The Space

A converted farmers croft, the property features original stone walling, beamed ceilings, and paved floors throughout. The Villa is divided into two floors, each floor is perfect for a family, so this is a great option for two families or one big family. Each floor has a kitchen and living area, and can function independently from the other. The upstairs floor sleeps 5, has a master king bedroom with ensuite, one bunk bed room with ensuite, and one single room. The downstairs floor can also sleep 5. It has 1 king bedroom, a second bunk bedroom with ensuite, and a divinely comfortable sofa bed in a third room. There is a separate queen bedroom and additional ensuite bathroom in the house that can be added on request bringing the total bed space to 12 people.

Guest Access

You do not share the space with anyone, nor are there any neighbors in view...the villa looks out over the hills and down to the med, and is nestled in a blanket of trees which block out everyone around you. If you want to escape, this is the place to come to!

Interaction with Guests

I will most likely not be present during your stay. However, the closest neighbors run a Bed & Breakfast next door and will welcome you into the house and explain the quirks of the Villa to you.

The Neighborhood

Leivi is the Olive Oil capital of Liguria, many award-winning oils are produced here. Gastronomy is thus an important part of the culture here. All over the surrounding hills you can find beautiful award-winning restaurants with spectacular views out to Portofino and the rest of the riviera.

Getting around

Ideally you should come with your own transportation. There is parking space for 3 cars and a private drive that we share with the bed and breakfast next door.

Other Things to Note

  • The house was just what we were looking for--a great place to relax and share with friends!! The driving instructions were spot on, and we had no trouble finding it (just keep going up!!). We followed the instructions, which told us to enjoy the old house and forgive the quirks! The rooms are charming and the pool and patio quite relaxing. Jeff may have gotten a bit tired of driving up and down, but that was the only complaint! The town of Chiavari is charming, as well. The people are friendly, and we finally got the pronunciation right! We loved La Cava!! We went back a second time and were treated to Italian karaoke on Saturday night! They may still be talking about our friend, Flor from Mexico!! We also enjoyed Pisa and Portofino. Thanks, we truly enjoyed our Italy experience!

  • The house is perfectly located at the top of a hill overlooking the breathtaking valleys above Chiavari. Rustic and secluded, it feels like stepping back in time, and into your private hilltop estate.

A well-appointed kitchen and a beautiful dining room lead out onto the patio area. The deep azure swimming pool with seating area provide the perfect environment for a day of doing nothing. Bedrooms are comfortable and atmospheric, many with en-suite or private bathrooms.

We couldn't have had a more relaxing stay. Walking in the surrounding hills, yoga in the terraced garden and exploring the pictureque villages of the famous Ligurian coastline. Highly recommended, we will be back!

  • We had a fantastic stay at Barnaby's charming fairytale villa. The location is perfect for a group. We loved the atmosphere of the building with artwork inside and around the house. There are so many different places to relax - in the lovely house, in the beautiful garden or in and around the pool.
From the villa you can start with hiking or biking or take a drive to the beaches, which are only a short drive away. Barnaby gave us a lot of helpful insider information for our stay.

  • It is a great house! Characteristic, beautiful located, a place with a lot of privacy, marvelous garden and authentic and packed with charm. We stayed with 4 adults and 6 children. It was very good that the owner noticed us up front about the pool (small children can not touch the floor with their feet) and the steep drop down in the garden. We enjoyed swimming in the pool, driving by the beautiful coast shore in the nearby area and cooling down in the sea. Also the small Italian villages are more than worth paying a visit.

The only small improvement concerns the pool. During our stay we had some problems with the purification of the pool, but it can also be that that was a temporary issue.

The electricity is also a point of concern, but because the pointed that out so clearly before our visit, it was ok for us. It was even a bit charming ;-) But it is good to be frank about that for new visitors.

We had a marvelous time!! Beautiful and characteristic house, wonderful surroundings, awesome garden, great place!
