For a truly unique and authentic experience, imagine waking up in a houseboat on one of the famous canals of Amsterdam. The sound of water gently lulls you to sleep outside of your window at night and in the morning you can enjoy a nice refreshing breakfast or coffee while families of swans swim by. All of this and more is possible in our romantic 2-bedroom traditional barge houseboat moored on a central historic canal which dates back to the early 1600s.
This high-ceiling, hardwood floor floating apartment boasts a fully equipped kitchen with a 5-range professional range oven, a spacious bathroom with shower, and 2 bedrooms. The interior is cheerful, quirky and colorful, and can be best described as "Spanish rustic".
This cozy houseboat sits low in the water, so is the perfect place to watch the city life pass gently by...and Amsterdam viewed from the water is really something special! However, if you tire of the amazing water views, the houseboat also comes with a flatscreen HD TV and several channels in Dutch, English, and German.
You as a guest have access to the entire Houseboat.
The Amsterdam canal belt is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, and in this location you are at the heart of it all! From here, all of the best sights in Amsterdam are just outside your door. You can walk to the famous Amsterdam museums on the Museum Square in 10 minutes, and the Heinken Experience is just around the corner. Nearby is the lovely local shopping street, the Utrechtsestraat, full of boutique clothing and design shops and buzzing restaurants and bars. For nightlife, just take your pick- depending on if you walk 5 minutes left or right out of your front door, you can be on the terraces of the Leidse Square, in the clubs of Rembrant Square, or in the up-and-coming De Pijp neighborhood. You can also walk to Dam Square and the Red Light District in 20 minutes, but if you prefer to take the tram, lines 16 and 24 are nearby and will bring you there in just 4 stops.
This area is very well connected with trams, and buses, making it easy to arrive any where in the city.
We were a family with three boys (2 teenagers) and it was perfect for us. The kitchen came in handy for a couple of simple suppers and breakfasts. We didn't have to worry about the noise the boys made and its location is perfect - 5 minutes walk from the Rijsmuseum/Van Gogh. It also has a really nice quirky feel to it. The heating works a treat and in fact the only problem we had was locating the light switch for the middle bedroom. Amsterdam is to die for especially when the sun is shining. We had a great time. And Jeff's boat was a great place to base ourselves.
The houseboat was in a great location. A v pleasant 5 mins walk to the Rujksmuseum and a little more to Liedseplein. Really nice surroundings.
Jeffrey our host was really helpful and amenable to meet kindly at a time to suit us. Gave us some valuable tips about where to eat nearby that hit the spot.
The boat was cozy and clean with a good shower.
Our stay on the houseboat was great! The pics on the page are exactly what you will see on the boat. Everything was clean, beds were comfy (though the third bed is the couch in the living room), fast WIFI, and a nice host who was flexible regarding our check-in/-out times.
There are quite a lot of nice little restaurants and bars around which is great, the only thing slightly annoying was that no cab driver seemed to know the address or was actively trying to get more... (three drives at night from central station: 12 Euros, 16 Euros and 27 Euros... )
He was very nice and punctual. Allways responded quickly to the messages and keep communication. A room did not have lights and a blind window was broken. He needs to check it before having someone. The pictures seem better than what it is actually. Good experience for 1 night. It was also very cold inside. Gel and towels are at the guest disposal.
Super Location!
Excellent location close to all major attractions we walked everywhere. Central but quiet, tranquil and peaceful being on the water. Jeff responded immediately to all queries. We were pleased he was flexible with check in and check out. A unique place to stay!

I'm Jeff, and I'm a Canadian born and raised son of two Portuguese parents, that has lived in the Netherlands for the last 6 1/2 years. Simple, right? :-) My two favourite things in the world are travelling and playing sports. My favourite holiday so far was my trip to Nepal and my favourite sport is basketball. I also coach a womans team aside from currently playing myself.
As an avid traveller, I understand the importance of a well maintained and clean accommodation. I aim to offer the familiar comfort of home, while exploring Amsterdam. I look forward to meeting you.
