For a truly unique and authentic experience, imagine waking up in a houseboat on one of the famous canals of Amsterdam. The sound of water gently lulls you to sleep outside of your window at night and in the morning you can enjoy a nice refreshing breakfast or coffee while families of swans swim by. All of this and more is possible in our romantic 2-bedroom traditional barge houseboat moored on a central historic canal which dates back to the early 1600s.
This high-ceiling, hardwood floor floating apartment boasts a fully equipped kitchen with a 5-range professional range oven, a spacious bathroom with shower, and 2 bedrooms. The interior is cheerful, quirky and colorful, and can be best described as "Spanish rustic".
This cozy houseboat sits low in the water, so is the perfect place to watch the city life pass gently by...and Amsterdam viewed from the water is really something special! However, if you tire of the amazing water views, the houseboat also comes with a flatscreen HD TV and several channels in Dutch, English, and German.
You as a guest have private access to the entire Houseboat.

The Amsterdam canal belt is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, and in this location you are at the heart of it all! From here, all of the best sights in Amsterdam are just outside your door. You can walk to the famous Amsterdam museums on the Museum Square in 10 minutes, and the Heinken Experience is just around the corner. Nearby is the lovely local shopping street, the Utrechtsestraat, full of boutique clothing and design shops and buzzing restaurants and bars. For nightlife, just take your pick- depending on if you walk 5 minutes left or right out of your front door, you can be on the terraces of the Leidse Square, in the clubs of Rembrant Square, or in the up-and-coming De Pijp neighborhood. You can also walk to Dam Square and the Red Light District in 20 minutes, but if you prefer to take the tram, lines 16 and 24 are nearby and will bring you there in just 4 stops.
This area is very well connected with trams, and buses, making it easy to arrive any where in the city.
From Sep 14 - 15, 2015 the minimum stay is 1 night.
The location of the boat is perfect.
It is possible to put your own boat next to his boat.
The boat was not very clean although I had to pay 50 euro extra for cleaning.
Price/ wislity rate is not oke.
Lena, (Jeffrey's girlfriend) met us and showed us around the houseboat. The houseboat was fully furnished and we were supplied with fresh linen and towels. Lena was super friendly and informative letting us know where the nearest supermarkets were and the nice cafe's and restaurants that were in the surrounding neighbourhood. The houseboat had coffee grinders and a coffee machine so its great for buying your own beans at the supermarket. food in supermarkets is very cheap and the kitchen in the houseboat is fully stocked so its perfect for eating in. The area was very quiet and peaceful which was surprising considering how close it was to the city. It was a very pleasant 25 minute walk over bridges into the city. The sofa folded out into a comfortable double bed. we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and Jeffrey was very quick to communicate and help out which is what you need in a new city. I highly recommend staying here.
Jeffrey's barge was absolutely super. The location was fantastic, surrounded by great restaurants and bars and still not to busy or loud.
There was a gang of six of us stating and there was tons of space. I have been to amsterdam on many occasions but this was by far our best experience accommodation wise.
We will most certainly be back!!
Jeffrey greeted us at the houseboat and was very pleasant. The location is ideal for visiting the Van Gogh museum, Rijk's museum, boat tours and Heineken experience. The 197 connexxion bus goes from the Rijk's museum to the airport. The house boat is located on a quiet canal side street. It is small as expected for a house boat. The kitchen was somewhat disorganized with junk on the counter tops and in the drawers and cabinets. It was not well equipped. Both kitchen and bathroom especially could do with a really good clean. The bathroom floor rug was especially stained and should be replaced. I recommend that screens be placed on a several windows to facilitate ventilation and limit mosquitoes. A place to sit outside would be nice. We just finished a long trip in Europe and this was the least well maintained of the places we rented. It has lots of potential but needs some work.
Nice location to see a lot of Amsterdam quickly. Houseboat was a bit rustic for our tastes, but had a lot of charm as well. Has everything you need for a short or long stay.
We had an amazing experience in Amsterdam. Boat is located at walking distance to all the nice places. Jeff was very helpful as well. The boat is fully equipped and very clean. Has a beautiful decor giving it a homely outlook. Looks exactly like the photos. Considering its a boathouse it was spacious enough to relax and feel at home. Would love to stay there again.

About the Host, Jeffrey
I'm Jeff, and I'm a Canadian born and raised son of two Portuguese parents, that has lived in the Netherlands for the last 6 1/2 years. Simple, right? :-) My two favourite things in the world are travelling and playing sports. My favourite holiday so far was my trip to Nepal and my favourite sport is basketball. I also coach a womans team aside from currently playing myself.
As an avid traveller, I understand the importance of a well maintained and clean accommodation. I aim to offer the familiar comfort of home, while exploring Amsterdam. I look forward to meeting you.
