About this listing
City centre Houseboat moored minutes away from most attractions, yet on quiet canal. Here you can watch a family of swans swim by, while enjoying breakfast in this authentic Dutch arc. Enjoy this unique experience in beautiful Amsterdam now.
For a truly unique and authentic experience, imagine waking up in a houseboat on one of the famous canals of Amsterdam. The sound of water gently lulls you to sleep outside of your window at night and in the morning you can enjoy a nice refreshing breakfast or coffee while families of swans swim by. All of this and more is possible in our romantic 2-bedroom traditional barge houseboat moored on a central historic canal which dates back to the early 1600s.
This high-ceiling, hardwood floor floating apartment boasts a fully equipped kitchen with a 5-range professional range oven, a spacious bathroom with shower, and 2 bedrooms. The interior is cheerful, quirky and colorful, and can be best described as "Spanish rustic".
This cozy houseboat sits low in the water, so is the perfect place to watch the city life pass gently by...and Amsterdam viewed from the water is really something special! However, if you tire of the amazing water views, the houseboat also comes with a flatscreen HD TV and several channels in Dutch, English, and German.
You as a guest have private access to the entire Houseboat.
Interaction with Guests
I will be at the Houseboat to greet you and let you in. After exchanging keys and showing you around, I'm happy to offer any tips about the city. After that, I'll leave you to enjoy your holiday, although I'll be available by phone to answer questions you may have during your stay.
The Amsterdam canal belt is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, and in this location you are at the heart of it all! From here, all of the best sights in Amsterdam are just outside your door. You can walk to the famous Amsterdam museums on the Museum Square in 10 minutes, and the Heinken Experience is just around the corner. Nearby is the lovely local shopping street, the Utrechtsestraat, full of boutique clothing and design shops and buzzing restaurants and bars. For nightlife, just take your pick- depending on if you walk 5 minutes left or right out of your front door, you can be on the terraces of the Leidse Square, in the clubs of Rembrant Square, or in the up-and-coming De Pijp neighborhood. You can also walk to Dam Square and the Red Light District in 20 minutes, but if you prefer to take the tram, lines 16 and 24 are nearby and will bring you there in just 4 stops.
This area is very well connected with trams, and buses, making it easy to arrive any where in the city.
Super séjour shopping entre fille rendu plus insolite par cette nuit sur la péniche. Accueil irréprochable, très disponible avec beaucoup d' humour. Lieu proche des nombreux restos , bars et points d' attractions divers. A refaire.
The house boat was very nice. The neighborhood was centrally located and on the edge of a very quiet neighborhood. The accommodations were comfortable and sufficient. There was a bike park right next to the boat everything is close especially the rijkmuseum and the Van Gogh. My family loved the houseboat experience.
The house boat was in a great location very close to the Heineken Experience, the houseboat had everything you need, great experience.
This houseboat is amazing! Super comfortable, very cozy and in a great location. You get to experience a bit of everyday life in Amsterdam by looking out the window and finding yourself feeding ducks, greeting passer-byes on boats and then stepping outside to the street and seeing the locals on bikes and enjoying the local cafes.
The Houseboat is greatly equipped, all basic necessities are available and it functions just like a normal home. We had a great time here and very please with our stay. Since we were 5 people, we needed to make use of the sofa bed, which when in use can make the place feel much smaller. Nonetheless, we loved our time here, it was a unique experience and hope to repeat someday. :D
Jeffrey was a wonderful and accommodating host. The house boat was in a great location that was in walking distance to many great restaurants and sight-seeing attractions. Jeffrey was easy to coordinate with and made some great recommendations on things to see and places to eat. We had a great stay!
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
Centrally located indeed! (On one of the canals in the city centrum, within walking distance of everything: loved those museums and the many interesting restaurants). Loved feeding the ducks also.
A rustic "boat" (more of a floating apartment since it does not have a deck or a power source, or even a rudder.)
The beds are comfy, but the BRs are cramped. The kitchen is excellent (although we didn't use it).
Eva (Jeffrey's agent since he was on vacation), was excellent, with much info about he area.
TIP: don't drive a car into Amsterdam: parking was $ 40 per day!
Thanks for an excellent stay, sir!

About the Host, Jeffrey
I'm Jeff, and I'm a Canadian born and raised son of two Portuguese parents, that has lived in the Netherlands for the last 6 1/2 years. Simple, right? :-) My two favourite things in the world are travelling and playing sports. My favourite holiday so far was my trip to Nepal and my favourite sport is basketball. I also coach a womans team aside from currently playing myself.
As an avid traveller, I understand the importance of a well maintained and clean accommodation. I aim to offer the familiar comfort of home, while exploring Amsterdam. I look forward to meeting you.
