The Space

Old suburban delight! Our home was built in 1928 and it's a perfect home for entertaining family, we have a huge backyard, 2 BBQs, and lots of kickback space. We are walking distance to 2 famous bakeries, 4 awesome taquerias and 4 grocery stores, and in 25 minutes walking or a 5 minute drive you'll be at Seabright beach or the Beach Boardwalk.

*We have 2 adult bikes and 1 kid bike that can make your time in the Cruz car (parking!) free.
*You can ride our 9 foot longboard at Cowell's, which is the surfspot next to the wharf at the Boardwalk. The board is beat up but fine for some rides.
* We have 2 queen beds and 1 twin, and floorspace for more or a spacious backyard for a tent!
* Our kitchen was completely remodeled in March '14, and we refinished our downstairs floors.
*We have a male cat that requires no special care. He is very self-sufficeint. The window just needs to be left open so he can go in and out.

The home is currently available as the calendar shows. But if you are traveling, inquire if our place is available even if it isn't open on the calendar... we are spontaneous with our travels as well! Also, if you are staying for more days, the price is negotiable!

If there are more than 4 adults, we kindly ask for a 25$ charge per person, per night, to compensate.

  • The place is so great, and totally met our needs for the weekend. Cozy and charming, it was just the Santa Cruz environment we wanted to be in. Nice big backyard with chill neighbors was an added bonus (although keep it down late at night b/c neighbors are in earshot).

Amy was really accommodating and very responsive to questions. She made sure we had everything we needed, and was flexible when our plans changed slightly and we needed an extra night. Overall superb experience; I'd definitely come back and stay here.

  • We loved out stay at Craftsman in the Cruz. Very cute house and perfect location! Had everything we needed in walking or short 5 minute driving distance. Rob and Amy made the house so warm and inviting with fresh flowers and wine. My kids enjoyed the stairs and swinging outside. My littlest loved the cat too. The home has lots of character and a great Santa Cruz feel. We would love to come visit again. Just a tip if booking this, if you are a light sleeper (like my husband) bring a sound machine (or have an app on your phone) cause the wood floors creek and you hear everything. We came prepared so no biggie. I'm big and pregnant with our 3rd child so I was up and down many times ;)

  • We had a wonderful stay at Amy's home over Labor Day weekend. This was our first time using Air B&B and we were not dissapointed. Amy's home is cozy and was a perfect end spot each evening after exploring the town. We especially enjoyed relaxing on the front porch rockers and swing and being able to prepare our own dinner each night was a super bonus. She left us many helpful hints to make our stay more enjoyable.

  • When you arrive you feel happy right away, because of all the nice finishing touches in and around the house. We enjoyed the back yard very much, especially the kids! The house is within easy reach to all the main attractions, like beach area, boardwalk, grocerie stores, pacific ave and the red woods. I would recommend this house!

  • The location was great and having a huge yard is nice. The house was a little dirty and the yard needed to be mowed, but we still had a great time. Thanks Amy and Rob.

  • We loved staying at Amy and Rob's beautiful house. They won our hearts from a start with a gift of wine but their cat Chewy really sealed the deal - such a sweet guy. The house was clean, comfortable and close to the beach. Perfect for a Santa Cruz vacation.

  • The Smet home is very homey and welcoming. It is an older home in the relaxed Santa Cruz funky style. The front yard is very sweet. And the space in the back was nice to have. We really enjoyed using the bikes to ride to the beach and the Buttery.
