The space

Old suburban delight! Our home was built in 1928 and it's a perfect home for entertaining family, we have a huge backyard, 2 BBQs, and lots of kickback space. We are walking distance to 2 famous bakeries, 4 awesome taquerias and 4 grocery stores, and in 25 minutes walking or a 5-minute drive you'll be at Seabright beach or the Beach Boardwalk.

*We have 2 adult bikes that can make your time in the Cruz car (parking!) free.
*You can ride our Standup paddle board or/and 9-foot longboard at Cowell's, which is the surfspot next to the wharf at the Boardwalk. The longboard is beat up but fine for some rides.
* We have 1 queen bed, 1 double, and 1 twin, and floorspace for more or a spacious backyard for a tent!
* Our kitchen was completely remodeled in March '14, and we refinished our downstairs floors.
* We have a male cat that requires no special care. He is very self-sufficeint. The window just needs to be left open so he can go in and out.
* We have a spacious backyard that includes a garage converted into an apartment. Here we have 2 quiet, kind tenants that have their own separate yard.

The home is currently available as the calendar shows. But if you are traveling, inquire if our place is available even if it isn't open on the calendar... we are spontaneous with our travels as well! Also, if you are staying for more days, the price is negotiable!

If there are more than 4 adults, we kindly ask for a 25$ charge per person, per night, to compensate.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Craftsman. Amy and Rob are quick to respond and made us feel very welcome. Great location, quiet neighborhood. I wish we could have stayed longer!

We had a wonderful time in Amy and Rob's home. We arrived early, but we met them just briefly, as they were about to leave for the weekend. It really felt as taking their place in the house, as we could even use their stuff from the fridge, ride their bikes, do the laundry, read their books, listen their vinyl albums, water their vegetable plants and feed their cat. Although we would not consider ourselves cat-lovers in the first place, we eventually became friends with Chewy. He is really cute, but if your don't like cats, you should know that Chewy usually eats and sleeps in the master bedroom. Amy and Rob's home is close to grocery stores, to downtown SC, to the Boardwalk and to the quiet Seabright beach (as we are Dutch, we preferred going by bike: everything within a 10 minutes ride). Both the backyard and the front porch are really comfortable. Santa Cruz is a great place to slow down and relax. But also for shopping, visting the Mystery Spot (don't miss it), visiting the Seymour Marine Exploration Center (less spectacular than the Monterey Bay Acquarium, but definitely less crowded, way cheaper, at least as interesting, and you can also touch sharks and starfish), and ride the Giant Dipper 1924 wooden rollercoaster (single ride $6; we had the Pepsi night discount: unlimited access for $13 with a can of Pepsi).

Response from Amy And Rob:
I'm so happy you made it to the Seymour Center! I agree it's a special experience and research lab. Your family got more of the real vibe of Santa Cruz than most! You nabbed every opportunity for exploration. I'm happy to have met you all even though I like to give you the house straight away.

Rob and Amy responded quickly to our request and communicated well about all the arrangements. They responded quickly to our questions near the date of the arrival. Their house is really cute, and they added some things to make it a special visit (including a bottle of wine!). We recommend their home as a very nice, central location for the Santa Cruz area.

My family had a great time during our stay in Amy and Rob's beautiful home. The house was lovely and centrally located and our kids had lot of fun in the large back yard. Chewie the Cat welcomed us and kept us company during our stay. Amy and Rob were everything that one could want from their hosts. I hope to stay with them again in the future.

We felt very welcome from the second we walked in the door. The house is in a very central location. Our kids loved the basketball hoop and dart board in the backyard. We pitched a tent for our more adventurous kids who stayed outside several nights and had a blast. We loved eating dinner on the outdoor table and grilling outside. The cat was very friendly and a big attraction for our kids (who aren't allowed to have pets.) We watched movies on the thoughtfully provided TV setup. The kitchen was amazing. It was a little cramped overall with 6 of us, especially in the bathroom department. But in the end we had a great time on our visit to Santa Cruz.

We teach high school and seek decompression in many forms! We appreciate any chance to hit the road, camp or visit friends and family near and far. While at home, we enjoy hosting friends for brunch or just hanging out in the backyard. We walk down the street for some live music or ride bikes to some freshly- made beer, and do the same when on the road!
When you stay with us, we extend our cozy space for optimal decompression!
