We would advise that only the adventurous and more open minded stay here. The room is ideally located close to Manhattan. Literally you can walk there over the Willis Avenue Bridge. The neighborhood is considered very safe. It is jumping and vibrant and once you step outside the Guest House you will be living amongst real New Yorker's... not tourists. This may be enticing to some but scary to others... so take it for what its worth. Highly recommend if you are looking for a true New York experience! Dont take our word for it... Just read the reviews and see for yourself!
The building itself is very safe and secure. Ray lives on premise and can deal with any issues should they arise. The room is private with your own lock and key. very close to the subway 6,brook ave!its a very safe area, and the room is so clean.Ray is a very nice person!I will be back!
So glad I chose this accommodation over any other. Ray was extremely hospitable and a super cool guy to chat to - very friendly and helpful. I stayed here for 1 month sharing my room with a friend. The room was slightly smaller than the others but for the price I paid it was well worth it. Equipped a flat screen tv, fridge, air conditioning and regularly provided clean bed linen and towels. The rest of the facilities were fine also - both bathrooms and kitchen areas very clean and cleaned regularly.
The area in general is very safe and we didn't encounter any problems. Me and my female friend went out in the city many times and walked back from the subway very late a number of times without any issues. Don't believe some of the negative reviews that you read about the Bronx online. The area was very homely, plenty of cheap shops/cafes/restaurants around the subway station which is a 5 min walk away. Amazing Dominican bakery with the best Empanadas for $1 (can't remember the name but it's to the right of Mcdonalds, with the blue sign).
Location-wise, yes it is only a few minutes from Manhattan but upper Manhatthan. It's about a 30-45 minute journey if you want to go downtown/Brooklyn but jump on the express train and you'll get there quicker.
I would most certainly stay at SoBro house again. Thanks a lot guys!
My boyfriend and I stayed at the house and everything was exactly as promised and pictured. Ray was a great host and very helpful. We didn't spend much time in the house but the common areas and bathroom were always clean and well kept. Perfect location if you're not looking to be surrounded by tourists.
I stayed for two nights and I was very pleased. The house and room was very well kept and clean. There were two shared kitchens and bathrooms. It is a short walk to the 6 train and so convenient to jead to Manhattan. This was my first Airbnb experience and I was very pleased.
Perfect place if u r on the budget. We didn't stay too much in the house as we were busy seeing NYC; however the place was clean and really close to Manhattan. Fully recommend!
Ray was very accommodating, the rooms and bathrooms were clean, the area was safe with friendly neighbors. Everything was great! Definitely staying here my next time to NYC.
Easy enough to find, about 5 minutes from the subway. Although it fronts onto a busy road our room was at the back and we were not disturbed. The room was nicely fitted and small, but functional - including having its own AC, fridge and TV. There were full cooking facilities available which were useful, and also 2 bathrooms.
Particularly for the price, excellent value for money. Be warned that cabs may be awkward taking you back if coming from Manhattan!
My husband and I had a great experience staying at the Guest House. Most of the time, we were out exploring the city, but when we came back to sleep everything was always clean and quiet. Greg was great at answering any questions quickly, and sent me detailed directions on how to get to the Guest House from LGA. And Ray was there to meet us right on time with the key. For people looking to visit NYC on a budget, this place can't be beat!
The place was very clean and nice, everything on place. The metro station is very close, which is great. We used the kitchen a lot and that was helpful. We would definitely go back.
