Sauk Mountain Cottage is tucked just off Highway 20 on four park-like acres. Fronted by a charming covered porch, the cottage has a queen-size bed, full kitchen, and bathroom. It's the perfect place to spend one night as you're passing through the Skagit Valley or to use as your base camp for several days while you explore the mountains and the river in this gorgeous area.

The space
The cottage is perched on a little rise across the driveway from our main house, with a backdrop of big, old evergreen trees and Sauk Mountain, visible from the back porch on a clear day. The covered front porch, screened by colorful dahlias in summer, has two lawn chairs situated with a view all the way out to green foothills that often see snow in the winter. It's the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee, whether on a warm summer morning or a crisp fall one.

Inside the cottage, a small table and two chairs sit next to a big window looking out on the porch and garden. A gas fireplace adds ambiance for chilly evenings. The mantle is stocked with books, from regional guidebooks to outdoor adventure memoirs to murder mysteries; there are also decks of cards and a few board games (there is no WiFi or TV--consider it a gift to yourself to unplug for a night or two!). Made of locally reclaimed wood, the queen-sized bed has an organic latex mattress and comfy sheets, plus a quilt and fleecy throw blanket. Before you call it a night, be sure to step out onto the back porch and look up, on a clear night, to see countless stars.

In the kitchen, you'll find a full fridge, propane stove, microwave (which is also a convection oven), sink, toaster, coffee maker, and basic cooking utensils. We stock cooking basics like salt and pepper, olive oil, and ground coffee. The bathroom has a walk-in shower, Honest Company shampoo/body wash, pedestal sink, and toilet--we supply bath towels, hand towels, and a bath mat.
