Interaction with Guests
As I will be living in the apartment whilst you are there, I will do my best to make your stay not only enjoyable, but hopefully also on a personal level as opposed to your regular hotel stay. If I'm not around, I can be reached either directly on my mobile/cell phone or by email which I check regularly.
What's great about the neighbourhood are the immediate surroundings with trail walks which leads directly into the forrest. . The apartment block consists of 4 apartments (2 at the bottom and 2 on top) and mine is on top ☺ . Your bedroom window faces a small forest which is simply a pleasure waking up to. 5 min walk (500 m) to the local supermarket and pharmacy and bus stop which takes you directly into the city centre in 10 minutes. Nearby, you will find Gamla Uppsala (Old Uppsala) where the 3 large “royal mounds or barrows” (Kungshögarna) can be seen. According to ancient mythology and folklore, this would be the buriel ground of the three gods Thor, Odin and Frej. You can reach Gamla Uppsala either by foot (35 min) or bicycle or simply by taking a 5 min bus ride.
Uppsala is a university town with plenty of students and the main use of transport is by bicycle, with bicycle lanes everywhere. There is a bicycle lane which you can follow all the way from my place right into the center of Uppsala. It only takes 10 minutes by bicycle to reach the center. Therefore I have 2 bicycles available which you can use. Usage of the bicycles has been much appreciated with previous guests, and I even recommend that you use them, as you are able to see so much more of the city and it's surroundings.
You can also get into the city centre, by catching the local bus (nr 2) which takes approx 10 minutes or walk it in 30 min. Getting here from the airport, can either be done by taking a taxi ( I recommend Taxi Kurir or Taxi 100 000)which usually costs around 500 SEK or you can take the train ( around 120 SEK) into Uppsala and then take a short taxi ride (150 SEK) or even take the number 2 bus (30 SEK) close to Uppsala central station. I would recommend taking the taxi from Uppsala Central Station to my place for convenience sake.
If you are planning on spending the day in Stockholm, then you can catch the train which leaves every hour from the early morning to late night. The train ride is 40 minutes and costs 84 SEK ( March 2014). I know my way around Stockholm, since I work there, so I can give you some tips on where to go, should you join me on the ride in to work.

Really nice place and really nice person. Everything was clean and ready and Carlos made everything to make us feel home.
I would recommand that place !
Mycket fräsch lägenhet med hotellrumskänsla på gästrummet. Rent och trevligt. Tyvärr gjorde vårt tighta schema att vi inte hann träffa ägaren någon längre stund, men vi blev mycket väl mottagna
Carlos is a perfect host, his service and advice are precise and helpful, both in preparing, during our stay and even afterwards. Carlos is welcoming and thoughtful, he will make you feel happy.
The apartment is very comfortable and feels like home. My son especially enjoyed the sound system and huge TV-screen (Netflix)
and the gorgeous sofa.
Carlos' kitchen is well equipped and clean.
The living room is light and has plenty of room. You feel like staying indoors ;-)
The neighborhood is calm and Swedish: relaxed, spacious, safe and clean.
Carlos provided us with good bicycles to discover Upssala (a bicycle-friendly town).
We enjoyed our stay in Sweden, and Carlos and his apartment contributed largely to that! Thanks Carlos!
Second time at Carlos´ place and identical optimal airbnb-experience:
great service, impeccable coordination, spotless, convenient and comfortable place. We´re loking forward to the next time Carlos. Highly recommended.
When airbnb was started as a concept, I'm sure the founders had ideal hosts- and accommodations-like Carlos' in mind. Carlos is in every sense hospitable, helpful, professional and pragmatic. His place is impeccable, clean, tasteful, comfortable and orderly. Above that, he's a very interesting and pleasant person to deal with. Highly recommended, an absolute top airbnb experience, from the 1st quick response to our short term query to a last ride to the station upon departure. Also on behalf of my daughters, muito obrigado caballero!
The experience I had at Carlos place was wonderful! He's a wonderful person, very friendly, nice, a great advicer and helped all the time with everything! I have to thank him for the great time I had....and for sure I come back when I go to Uppsala again...his place is very clean, beautiful, comfortable and organized! I recommend for everybody :)
Really pleasant stay. Didnt expected something as good as this. Have been surprised in a really good way ! A place really clean and confortable.
A host really open minded with who I learned a lot during my stay.
A place close to the center and a bike kindly borrowed. I'll be back next year probably.
You should try, you won't be disappointed !
I'll describe myself as an easy-going adventurer with a restless soul. Way happier when I'm busy out and about. In my 40 years, I've managed to tick off a few boxes when it comes to travelling, but many more to go. Born and raised in Cape Town,South Africa and moved to Uppsala, Sweden in 1999. As a kid, skateboarding, surfing and generally being outdoors was no 1 priority and that hasn't changed too much. I still skate with my kids and instead of surfing, I snowboard at every given opportunity. Music is another passion of mine - I've yet to find something else that can motivate me more when I need it. Thoroughly enjoy meeting new people and AirBnB seems to be the gateway of owning my very own bed and breakfast in Stellenbosch,South African 15 years from today, March 2014.
Hope to see you soon! I will be able to advise on things to see and do, both in Uppsala and Stockholm. I speak fluent Swedish, English, Afrikaans and so-so Portuguese.
