Odden Manor House and the Victor Petersen’s J. F. Willumsen Collection

Odden is the northernmost manor house in Denmark. It was built on a hill, surrounded by moats, rivulets and a lake. The collection house at the manor house documents all aspects of Willumsen’s work, spanning from his childhood drawings to the final unfinished paintings. It demonstrates the work process that preceded some of his most famous paintings, such as “The Female Mountaineer”, “Bathing Children”, and “After the Storm”.
Many of the works in the collection were kept in the artist’s studios in Copenhagen and in France. They were acquired after his death by Victor Petersen (1918-2002) and his wife Kirsten Petersen. They established a foundation to which they donated around 1400 works, the majority of which are permanently displayed at Odden.

The foundation still runs the manor house and the collection.

There is a well stocked supermarket 6 km from the manor house and plenty of local delicacies in the surrounding villages and towns. Please note that the manor house is located next to a small village but otherwise quite remotely in the countryside.
