Relax and unwind in this cozy Hill District Home, just a few minutes walking distance from downtown. The room is small but very comfortable, featuring a double bed and view of the garden. Shared bathroom.A large deck overlooks the lake and mountains.
I am an eccentric artist so my apartment reflects that. If what you seek are clean Ikea lines, this ain't it. What you will find is a cozy welcoming home influenced by my life growing up summering in an Adirondack Great Camp.
There are large windows, high ceilings and hardwood floors. The bathroom has a tub for relaxing baths and an awesome and powerful shower head.
Church Street, UVM and Champlain College are all short walks, as is the lake front.
You are welcome to relax and hang out on my back deck and look at the trees, the Adirondack Mountains and Lake Champlain, all in the distance.
The bedroom is small and cozy. You will snooze on a double mattress and look out the window into the garden and hear the tress whisper and the birds chirp!
Guests have access to their cozy bedroom with a double mattress, the living room, sharedbathroom, and back deck.
I'm more than happy to make room in the fridge for delicious Vermont cheese and Heady Topper! And you may check in with me about using the kitchen.
I provide clean sheets, towels and fabulous hospitality. You bring you're own soap and other toiletries, as I do not supply them. The full bathroom with tub/shower is shared with me.
Please note that check in time is no earlier than 2 pm and check out time is by 11 am. I will consider exceptions, if you ask!
Interaction with Guests
The bedroom you will be staying in is right off of the living room and kitchen. I work freelance, so you may see me in the morning having coffee and sitting at my computer. However, I generally won't engage with you unless you feel like chatting. I like for guests to feel welcomed by my hospitality, but not overwhelmed by it.
I am happy to give you tips and info about Burlington and the surrounding areas, or just leave you to go about your business.
The place isn't huge, but I think that you will find it to be a nice place to relax when you are not out on the town, which is less than a 10 minute walk.
This is the Hill District nearby to UVM and Champlain Colleges. As the students return to school, you will feel their vibrant presence. Old homes and the Champlain College Campus are featured on this part of the street. Plenty of parking is available, usually right across the street, or nearby on Maple street.
A short walk or drive to downtown and the lakefront. A bus to the waterfront passes right by the front of the house. Bicycle rentals are available down the hill next to the lake and the bike path.
Other Things to Note
I am around the house, when I'm not working various free-lance jobs, so don't expect complete privacy. I won't be in your face, but you will encounter me and my cat. We both go in and out as we please.
Me and my home are an eclectic expression of a life well lived. If you like clean lines and Ikea furniture, this isn't the place for you. However, if you enjoy being in a place full of light, life and a few well-curated vintage items, this is your cozy spot for a respite during your stay in Beautiful Burlington, Vermont.
I live a "counter culture" very and interesting and creative life.
I encourage those with the same zest for variety and adventure to come and stay with me.
You will be warmly welcomed into a cozy, beautiful and delightful home.
When you arrive please call or text me at my number. Don't knock on the front door of my building as that is not where I live and I'd rather my neighbors don't feel bothered by my having guests.
No smoking in the house, but you may stare at the beautiful view and hang out on the back porch and puff.
Take you shoes off before entering during the messy winter months, please.
I ask that my guests don't check in before 2 pm and are out by 11 am. But I am always open to exceptions if asked. I often have to prep for new guests and this gives my plenty of time. Thanks!
Laura was the perfect host. From the time we entered the door till the time we said our goodbyes we felt welcomed and at home. She provided us with a cozy room, clean bathroom, and a kitchen to use at our disposal. Her home is walking distance from all the "must sees" of Burlington and she provided us with a map and local suggestions. Laura let us come and go as we pleased and provided us with our own house key. Her request of leaving shoes outside the door keeps her home clean and gives an "at home" feeling. Not only did Laura provide a great place to stay, she brought us along to meet her friends and explore local hotspots on a Monday night! We never felt like strangers in her home, it felt like visiting an old friend. We feel lucky to have been invited into her bubble. Her hippie lifestyle accommodates free spirits and those that enjoy sharing 420 traditions. We hope to return to Burlington one day and visit our new friend Laura!
I was in Burlington for two days for an interview and I found Laura's place to be an affordable, comfortable and quiet place to crash during my stay. It is a close walk to both UVM and the downtown Burlington area, and a cheap cab ride away from the airport. Laura's home is easy to find, and Laura was very responsive to communications leading up to (and during) my stay. I would recommend Laura's home for anyone looking to explore Burlington for a short while.
Laura was nice, quick to respond when we texted and very helpful
She has an adorably friendly cat!
The bed was comfy.
The house is located close to downtown, very convenient.
The bedroom is super tiny.
No space in the closet or dresser to put your clothes, so it got disorganized very quickly.
While the bedroom and bathroom were clean, the rest of the house wasn't. The floors were especially dirty and dusty. I wish I had brought slippers to wear around so I didn't get my socks all dirty. (she has a "no shoes" policy inside)
This place might work well for some, especially those just needing a cheap place to crash for the night. But we will probably look elsewhere next time we are in Burlington.
Gorgeous apartment with a cozy and charming bedroom- I absolutely loved the decor of the whole space, especially the room - with Laura's awesome collection of vintage suitcases. I only stayed for a few hours overnight but Laura was extremely easy to communicate with and provided clear instructions. I was happy to get a chance to chat with her and she provided lots of cool suggestions for dinner and walking around.
I was in Burlington for an overnight stay and found Laura to be an excellent host. Communication before my arrival was easy and prompt, and Laura greeted me upon my arrival. I found the room and rest of the house to be clean and warm. Laura was very nice and welcoming during my stay. The location was also excellent as it was walking distance to UVM, the lake, and downtown. I would recommend staying here!
