The address is 2901 S Michigan Ave. Once you arrive, dial #021 on the key pad and take the elevator to apartment 806, where you will find the door unlocked with the keys on the counter.
**Remember to drive to Indiana, the main entrance. Michigan Ave is gated as you will need the master key to enter, which you will have once you check in**
Once you check out, leave the keys on the counter with the door unlocked.
CHECK IN IS AT 3PM, CHECK OUT IS 11AM.
This high-rise apartment is by no means a luxury place. It is located in a low-income part of the city, and is poorly maintained and equipped. This was mentioned by a previous visitor/reviewer, but nothing seems to have been done about it.
The location was convenient for us while visiting mostly the nearby McCormick Conference Center - a walking distance, and the bus station by the house was excellent to connect us with the city. There is no grocery/supermarket or a restaurant nearby.
I apologize that your experience was different fro all of the other reviews that I received. However, the unit is far from a low income community. In fact it is a middle class diverse community with privately owned condos. I own two in the same building. The building and the surrounding area is well maintained and managed by 24hr staff including patrolling security in and outside the property. The pictures are exactly what you will see when you check in. I personally own and live in the unit, in which I take pride in the up keep. The location of the building is ideal for those visiting the McCormick center, which is in walking distance just as you mentioned and is designated to provide low price lodging for those who would prefer to pay less and have more, compared to the high hotel prices in the convention center. Overall, a great deal for your buck.
Very nice space and location worked out just fine. Note, entrance for cars is not on Indiana but on S Prairie. Would recommend for those looking for cheap accessible options.
Perfect little apartment for me. Right next to a bus stop that takes you to the middle of Chicago. The apartment was perfect and cosy.
This apt was as described. Clean and comfortable. Great view for sunsets and close to McCormick. I walked to the convention center. You can easily grab a bus up Michigan to eat dinner. I would stay here again.
I never met Antonio as we mostly texted and once talked on the phone when there was an issue. The listing was mostly as expected except I am not sure that I would classify this as a “Luxury High-Rise”. It is an older apartment house that appears to have turned into a condominium some time ago. There are only 2 elevators that service about 16 flights and Antonio’s unit is on the 8th floor with a view to the west. The kitchen was nice with a granite top but no or few cooking utensils if you expect to do cooking. No instructions were available when we first arrived. We should have been advised that we needed to bring our own soap in our earlier communication. There did not appear to be any for our four day stay. My wife found the duvet cover (which was stained) not to her liking and we looked for a clean flat sheet to put between our bodies and the duvet cover. Nothing available in the closet except dirty linens on the floor. Eventually, Antonio called after some texts and advised that there were spare sheets tucked into footstools near the sofa. There is ample bookshelf space to store your clothing (no drawers), but these had to be wiped down before use because there was a visible layer of dust. The condo is located on the Southside of Chicago and appeared to be safe. On the east, it is surrounded by a park-like setting. On the west, is a security gate (that can actually be walked around by going up the block) that provides access to S. Michigan Ave and a bus every 15 minutes in the north or south direction. There is a security guard on the first floor visible during usual daytime activity hours. We used the #4 bus that stopped and picked up out front. We paid an additional $25 to Antonio for my wife as an additional person but we were left only one set of keys which became problematic if the person without the key got home earlier, especially as there is a locked gate leading from the street. The balcony has a nice view of the setting sun in the evening and occasionally fireworks from the nearby stadium can be seen & heard but the balcony furniture is not new or nice so we didn’t spend any time there. The soap dish over the bathtub was rusty though there was a corner shelf system in place in the bathtub. The small TV (not as photographed!) was setup to mostly watch from the bed though, from the living room, one can partially watch it through the open-ended bookshelf partition (IKEA Expedit) even though this is a little inconvenient. The internet worked fine while we were there. The light over the small 2-person dining table was out and sufficient lighting in the living area seemed to be a problem at times e.g. like when you want to read a paper in the...
I apologize that your first stay wan not what you imagined. However, I do take pride in the fact my unit is very good condition. Unfortunately I am a traveling nurse, in which I am not always available to directly meet my guest, which is also my main reason for renting my condo through Airbnb, as I am rarely home. The building is too a an older building but is new at heat as it has went through a complete renovation of both the interior and exterior. The kitchen is fully equipped with all of the cooking utensils that one would need (forks, spoon, knives, pots, pans, etc.). All supplies are conveniently stored away in the designated draws and kitchen cabinets. Maybe there was an oversight during your search as I am a cooker and its a necessity for certain tools in order for me to make a great meal. As far as cleaning in concerned, the unit was cleaned prior to you arrival, with fresh towels and linen for the amount of people that were staying in the unit. I could go on and on explaining every single item that you found to not be to your liking, but I have to understand that not everyone will like my unit. But I would like for you to understand that you are staying in someone's home not, a hotel. No home is perfect and there are going to be minor flaws and things that may go unnoticed. However I take pride in the fact that I do my very best to please every guest, including you. My home isn't perfect, but it is very nice and designed to my liking which makes it unique from any apartment you will ever find.
What a lovely little space Antonio provide to me. It was my first airbnb experience and I couldn't be more pleased. I arrived a little earlier than my "check in" time and the space was ready for me. The bed was super comfy and the sunset over chicago was beautiful. Parking was ample around 3pm but after 5/6pm it was tough to find a spot, so I just kept looping around till I found one. The space is conveniently located just as it said in the discription, easy on and off the highway and just a skip over is Lake Michigan. A few things that I noticed, but didnt turn me off were.....Not sure if it was just the operator or the keys but I don't think the apartment physically locked. I tried a few times and gave up, HOWEVER I felt as tho my belongings were safe and sound. Going into the summer months I sense it might get a little stuffy in the apartment, the air conditioner wouldn't drop below 69, but HEY there's a balcony with sliding doors to let in some are and Lake Michigan to cool off in. The last thing, there was only 1 plate and 1 bowl visible but I didn't go searching for more. ALL IN ALL, I'm happy with my stay and I'd stay with Antonio again if the space was available when I needed it. Thanks dude, you rock!
Antonio's pictures of his place were amazingly accurate. If you like what you see, you'll like where you'll be staying. Check in/out was a breeze. I didn't need to get in touch with Antonio during our stay because everything was in great shape. This place is definitely at the top of my list if I need future accommodations in Chicago.
The apartment looked excatly like the pictures. Antonio was a great host, with clear reservation instructions. I will definitely with him again if I'm in the Chicago area.
Antonio had been a great and a very generous host.. Tony was very responsive when contacted. The apartment in person looks much better than in the pictures, the porch has a great downtown view. We had a pleasant stay
