About This Listing
Antique-furnished cozy, nostalgic bedroom (double bed) in a charming old wine country farmhouse situated on 8 acres on Atascadero Creek. Enjoy a simple healthy breakfast, with good coffee or tea, at your leisure. Read a book (we have a pretty good library in the house) or sip a glass of afternoon wine on the wraparound porch and watch the birds down at the creek and the barn owls hunting over the lower field at sundown. Enjoy our lush blackberry bushes fruit trees, and our acre of French lavender in full bloom in summer (you're invited to take some home to enjoy). Search for arrowheads....the property was an important Coast Miwok gathering site. Walk to town or the French Garden for a good meal or bushwhack through the field to Ragle Ranch Park. Great food, music, hiking, entertainment, quirky little off-the-beaten-path towns, and the beach are just a short drive away. Be sure to see the relatively recent NYT travel article on Sebastopol. Come enjoy it while the area is relatively unspoiled.
We have a good supply of local area attraction brochures and maps for your use. We are also happy to provide you with suggestions, if you like, depending on your personal interests.
All proceeds are donated to local animal rescue groups or to the wonderful PAWS wild animal rescue sanctuary in the Gold Country.
We have 4 fine rescue dogs and 4 cats. Your small well-behaved, housebroken dog/cat may be considered. But please provide information, in advance, about your pet so we can assess the 'fit'. A small fee will apply.
Unfortunately, no children under 10 please, as my dogs aren't at their best with children.
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks for your interest in Pelo del Perro Farm.
No shoes in the house please (we're happy to lend you socks).
No smoking anywhere on the property.
Please be mindful of water consumption as we're in perpetual drought.
Please be very gentle with the plumbing....septic system is old and sensitive.
Please keep scents to a minimum and we will do the same.
Please make cellphone calls in your room or outside.
Kitchen is generally not available for guests to prepare meals.
Laundry available for additional charge.
It was a pleasure to meet Nancy and her crew of rescue dogs! Nancy has a great spot, bordering the Atascadero creek and wetlands. Very peaceful. Nancy was a wonderful host, and made me feel at home. She knew when I wanted to talk and engage, and she also knew when I was ready to be alone. No pressure. I loved the fresh fruit and coffee in the morning. The house is very convenient to downtown, and yet, I felt like I was in the country. Thanks Nancy!
Nancy was a wonderful host. She was always available if needed but also gave me plenty of space. I very much enjoyed getting to know her and our conversations over breakfast. She prepared wonderful breakfast such as fresh chard, farm egg, and toast, 7-grain hot breakfast cereal with fresh strawberries and nuts and was accommodating for me being gluten and dairy free. Everyday I was able to walk in her beautiful garden and see the array of wild birds and enjoy their singing and it felt very peaceful. There were red-winged blackbirds, hummingbirds, finches, quail, blue birds and others, I missed the woodpecker and owls, but Nancy described them to me. And she had bird books available. Nancy provides multiple bird feeders and baths around the yard so the birds really love it here. There were also some wild turkeys roaming around. I also enjoyed the dogs and cats, I felt right at home because I missed my 2 cats. She loves her animals and it is such a bonus for me that she donates to the humane society. There were other people staying on the property and they were all friendly. Nancy, I'm looking forward to coming up and staying again in the future (and bringing my boyfriend!) it is wonderful to experience the peace of your place, the animal loving spirit and your hospitality.
I loved staying at NAncy's beautiful and peaceful little farm house. The house is clean and comfortable. Nancy put me at ease immediately and was a great host! There are wonderful gardens to enjoy, with lots of flowers, wild turkey wandering, quail, humming birds, etc. Sebastopol is great also, and just a short drive, or nice walk into town. I went on a beautiful drive out to the coast as well. This is a great location and really what you dream of when you want to visit Sonoma county!
I had high expectations for this stay after seeing the description and photos posted, but reality completely exceeded the expectations.
Nancy was a wonderful host, welcoming, interesting to talk with, knowledgeable about the area, and also sensitive to providing space for time alone.
The room was just as described, small but very comfortable and conveniently located close by the bathroom and shower.
The natural setting of the farmhouse is beautiful, with wild turkey, deer, California quail, redwing blackbirds, and more visible from the outdoor seating area. After a long day of meetings the peace and beauty was much appreciated.
When next I return to Sonoma this will be the first place I check.

About the Host, Nancy
I'm a semi-retired CPA/investment advisor, now enjoying a much simpler and quieter life on my little farm, which I bought three years ago for a complete makeover. I volunteer at the local Humane Society and do a lot of fundraising and advocacy work on behalf of animals. I'm a big reader, traveler, antique afficionado and less big but enthusiastic cook and gardener. Also love to hike, with or without the dogs. I have one grown daughter, an entomologist, so I try to tolerate, if not love, bugs.
When I travel, I love staying in quiet, old B+B's and am delighted to be able to provide an unusual and cozy place for others who appreciate old houses, antiques, nature, serenity...and animals.
