LOCATION: We are located in the HEART of the city of San Francisco. The location is KEY in the center of great food, cafés, shopping, transportation, farmer's markets, the very popular Dolores Park, hipsterville and a great neighborhood vibe! The San Francisco Bay Area attracts millions of tourists every year and is known for its varied cuisine, panoramic views, scenic drives, music, museums, and especially for its diverse, cosmopolitan population. For GuideBook, please see listing -The Urban Oasis SF.*
TRANSPORTATION: MUNI, BART, Golden Gate Transit: San Francisco public transportation is world class, just like the city itself. You can get just about anywhere in the SF Bay Area on the public transit system. Just ask and I'll let you know how to get there, but in any case maps will be provided! Cars can also easily be rented from nearby car rental agencies. The Old Fashioned Street Car runs right out in front. The J Church runs on the cross street Church. There's the K L M T underground subway lines within a few block radius and the 22 and 33 bus lines one block away in either direction.
A taxi from the airport is approximately $40 -$50 one way depending how much you tip.
2 Hour Street Parking is available M-F. Evenings & weekends there's no time limit, but check signs for street cleaning.
CLIMATE & WEATHER: As Mark Twain once said" The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco." Which doesn't mean that we don't have good weather or warm days, but the best policy is: if you're prepared for the worst, then you'll always be pleasantly surprised! It's just gets really windy as the day progresses and we are known for relentless fog, but more so if you're staying near the coast. Don't go toward the beach unless it's really really hot and you'll be OK I promise! Always pack an umbrella, a windbreaker and a few extra long-sleeved, layers just to be on the safe side! The neighboring, Dolores Park is actually our "urban beach" anyway because it's a big, huge park with a whole lot of activities for the whole family from soccer, tennis, basketball, and a playground for the little-ones to live performances, festivals, and concerts or just plain old partying, bbq's and having a great time with a group of friends on a beautiful day :)
SF & BAY AREA EVENTS INFO:
You can pick up a free SF Weekly or SF Guardian newspaper on just about any corner in the city to find out about night life or online to find a variety of events info as well. There are more than plenty of diverse cultural events, music, art, dance, open mikes, sports, nature/outdoor, nightlife, etc. and there is something here for everybody! SF is a very vibrant, cosmopolitan and internationally recognized city for it's array of cultural diversity, architecture, unique history and of course, liberal politics. (*Just a side note: our neighbor, Dennis Peron, an activist and former partner of Harvey Milk who lives a few doors down with the Buddha painted on his garage door, authored Proposition 215: medical marijuana fyi :-) Tours can be arranged of his very "San Francisco style" home. He was also featured in the film "Milk' with Sean Penn, who also lives in the North Bay among other actors such as Robin Williams and Creator of Star Wars- George Lucas).
Within a short walking distance, there is an array of international cuisines to choose from at affordable prices. Please see our Guidebook in 'The Urban Oasis' listing for more info! You name it we've got it from Italian, Vietnamese, Mexican, Spanish, Mediterranean, Burmese, Vegan/Vegetarian, Indian, Thai, French, Cuban, to food trucks, smoothies stands, raw health food and many small independently owned gourmet deli markets and cafés, farmer's markets as well as large commercial supermarkets.

I really enjoyed my experience at The Urban Oasis! I stayed for two nights and found that the room was cheerful, clean, and welcoming. The bed was comfortable, and the neighborhood was very close to things I wanted to see. When I arrived I was given clear directions on how to let myself in, and Christina was very helpful to give me a lunch recommendation. Hector gave me a lot of advice on places to see, restaurants, etc. I was traveling alone, with no plan, and I ended up having a very enjoyable time in San Fran! Thanks, Christina and Hector!
I had a wonderful time staying at the Urban Oasis. Xtina is a caring, considerate, and responsible host. It was my first time in San Fran and - as a Midwesterner who never uses public transportation - I was a little nervous about how to navigate the city. Xtina took the time to help explain how to get around and also made some wonderful restaurant recommendations. The room was clean and comfortable. The location is perfect. I felt very safe and there were many fun things to do and see within walking distance. It is also close to a MUNI station which is very convenient. I highly recommend it! I paid much less than I would have for a hotel and had a much better experience = can't beat it!
Christina and Hector were amazing hosts! I couldn't have asked for anything more. Their home was clean, orderly and had all the necessary utilities at all times. I felt welcome, safe and comfortable. The location can't be beat. In the heart of the most fabulous city in the US. There were a few other people that stayed throughout my visit and everyone they selected was a good fit for the house. I would absolutely recommend this home to friends and family. I hope to be back soon and get some more time in the best city and in the sweetest home. Also is a great price for the location and rooms. Enjoy!
Thank you so much Christina and Hector for sharing your home and world with me for 5 weeks. Was a wonderful moment of my life :)
Staying at Christina's place was amazing. The room looks exactly like you see in the pictures, and the neighborhood is great. It's pretty quiet, and close to everything - public transport, parks, great food, etc. It was my first month in San Francisco, and the hosts made me feel super welcome, and were around if I needed any help. Thanks for the great stay!
It was my first airbnb experience. It was really good from my side. Room was clean and there was plenty room for me. it is very well located and very easy to find the house with using map or little knowledge of sf. Christina is very helpful she called me 4 or 5 times before I arrived the house. It was a good experience I would like to stay in there with more days.
Xtina made my first trip to San Francisco an unforgettable one. She has such a wonderful, caring nature, and thus made an incredible host. She offered her help and advice on directions, a map, left filtered water, a card with the wifi info, a spotlessly clean / fresh smelling apartment, etc; her attention to detail is what made the trip and space feel like a home away from home.
The Urban Oasis is located in an ideal location. Traveling alone, I felt very safe in this neck of the woods. You could truly spend your whole trip in just the Mission and be satisfied! There are incredible restaurants (all of diverse cuisines), a beautiful park, lots of wonderful small businesses and cafes, independent movie theaters, etc! All SF transportation options are really close it is very easy to reach any other part of San Francisco as well.
The only possible negative I could write is that the streetcar goes by right beside the window of the room. However, this is also a positive because the transportation is so close and that naturally comes with any urban territory.
I would highly recommend Xtina's Urban Oasis for anyone who is looking to stay in San Francisco. The place, location, and Xtina will make your trip a cozy, fun, and wonderful one!
Xtina made me feel very welcome. Everything was provided and kept clean and tidy at all times. The location is excellent, with a laundry and cafe next door. One block away is the park and 2 blocks away are supermarkets and 5 Muni lines to get anywhere in SF.
The room I stayed in is at the front and so can be a little noisy. If you are a light sleeper then bring some earplugs!

About the Host, Xtina
Greetings from The Urban Oasis SF! I have been living in the beautiful, diverse, cosmopolitan city of San Francisco for over 18 years. I am a proud, California native and have been living in my funky SF flat for over a decade now. I am a lover of arts & culture, in particular, Caribbean music, dance and cuisine. Born and raised on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico, Hector is a gifted musician, teacher and chef. With his original, traditional and popular sound, he leads his own band called La Mixta Criolla, which you can find on itunes. We love meeting and hosting people from all over the world. Since 2010, we have hosted more than 200 guests from more than 20 different countries. We truly appreciate the wonderful opportunity to meet like-minded folks and create amazing connections from all over the globe! In addition to being a superhost, last year I was featured in Airbnb's 'Why Host' Campaign on Airbnb tv, and was recently interviewed on the local news for being one of the city's most active hosts. Ideally, we want to show our guests a great time, break bread, share wonderful conversations to learn about you and where you come from! I take great pride in my home and make every attempt to keep it updated, beautiful and aesthetically pleasing for everyone. From Europe to Asia, South America to Canada, come over and experience "The Urban Oasis SF" for yourselves! We have a warm, friendly, multicultural vibe and environmentally-conscious home awaiting you! So don't wait to book, it's especially popular during high season (March-November). My motto is: "If I can't see the whole world, then at least I can bring the world to me." :) We strive to minimize our impact on this earth as much as humanly possible. PLEASE RECYCLE & REUSE! DON'T BUY THINGS YOU DON'T REALLY NEED. BE CONSCIOUS ABOUT YOUR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT and EDUCATE YOURSELF on how you, too can minimize, lessen your carbon footprint and live simpler, happier, healthier and more consciously!!! Madre Tierra THANKS YOU :)
