LOCATION: We are located in the HEART of the city of San Francisco. The location is KEY in the center of great food, cafés, shopping, transportation, farmer's markets, the very popular Dolores Park, hipsterville and a great neighborhood vibe! The San Francisco Bay Area attracts millions of tourists every year and is known for its varied cuisine, panoramic views, scenic drives, music, museums, and especially for its diverse, cosmopolitan population. For GuideBook, please see listing -The Urban Oasis SF.*
TRANSPORTATION: MUNI, BART, Golden Gate Transit: San Francisco public transportation is world class, just like the city itself. You can get just about anywhere in the SF Bay Area on the public transit system. Just ask and I'll let you know how to get there, but in any case maps will be provided! Cars can also easily be rented from nearby car rental agencies. The Old Fashioned Street Car runs right out in front. The J Church runs on the cross street Church. There's the K L M T underground subway lines within a few block radius and the 22 and 33 bus lines one block away in either direction.
A taxi from the airport is approximately $40 -$50 one way depending how much you tip.
2 Hour Street Parking is available M-F. Evenings & weekends there's no time limit, but check signs for street cleaning.
CLIMATE & WEATHER: As Mark Twain once said" The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco." Which doesn't mean that we don't have good weather or warm days, but the best policy is: if you're prepared for the worst, then you'll always be pleasantly surprised! It's just gets really windy as the day progresses and we are known for relentless fog, but more so if you're staying near the coast. Don't go toward the beach unless it's really really hot and you'll be OK I promise! Always pack an umbrella, a windbreaker and a few extra long-sleeved, layers just to be on the safe side! The neighboring, Dolores Park is actually our "urban beach" anyway because it's a big, huge park with a whole lot of activities for the whole family from soccer, tennis, basketball, and a playground for the little-ones to live performances, festivals, and concerts or just plain old partying, bbq's and having a great time with a group of friends on a beautiful day :)
SF & BAY AREA EVENTS INFO:
You can pick up a free SF Weekly or SF Guardian newspaper on just about any corner in the city to find out about night life or online to find a variety of events info as well. There are more than plenty of diverse cultural events, music, art, dance, open mikes, sports, nature/outdoor, nightlife, etc. and there is something here for everybody! SF is a very vibrant, cosmopolitan and internationally recognized city for it's array of cultural diversity, architecture, unique history and of course, liberal politics. (*Just a side note: our neighbor, Dennis Peron, an activist and former partner of Harvey Milk who lives a few doors down with the Buddha painted on his garage door, authored Proposition 215: medical marijuana fyi :-) Tours can be arranged of his very "San Francisco style" home. He was also featured in the film "Milk' with Sean Penn, who also lives in the North Bay among other actors such as Robin Williams and Creator of Star Wars- George Lucas).
Within a short walking distance, there is an array of international cuisines to choose from at affordable prices. Please see our Guidebook in 'The Urban Oasis' listing for more info! You name it we've got it from Italian, Vietnamese, Mexican, Spanish, Mediterranean, Burmese, Vegan/Vegetarian, Indian, Thai, French, Cuban, to food trucks, smoothies stands, raw health food and many small independently owned gourmet deli markets and cafés, farmer's markets as well as large commercial supermarkets.

Christina and Hector were so wonderful! Their place truly felt like home away from home for me on my first visit to the area! They helped me when I needed it but the home was so quiet otherwise. The bed was SO comfortable and you're talking to someone with a very bad back and neck. My room was cozy and had plenty of light and space. It's location is perfect, easy walking to the mission and Castro. I felt safe walking home at night alone and in the morning there's a cute coffee shop right on the corner. I even spent an extra night here! Loved it! I will be back to stay with them!
When I sat across my computer at home, and chose this room, I couldn't have hoped for anything better - it was really everything I was looking for -
beautiful colorful room, with a great atmosphere, located between the Mission and Castro, walking distance from everywhere (I like seeing the city by foot!) and a lovely welcoming host, that made me feel that I am so at home, and yet have my privacy.
Thank you Christina, and Hector too, for the wonderful way you share your apartment.
The only flow in my plan was that I only stayed for such a short time. If I'm ever back in SF, I'd love love love to come again - it was perfect for me!.
Christina was/is a rock star host. She had everything available for me on arrival. Her place is charming, unique, cozy, quiet and very private. It is also located in a perfect area. I could pretty much walk to anything within 15-20 minutes maximum, Mission Area and what not. The room I stayed in had an awesome energy, like Christina's and I got excellent sleep. Vacation renting with her is a no-brainer. Very communicative and has the experience and then some. And if you are short of things to do, she'll definitely be able to give you a long list :) Definitely recommend the Urban Oasis II.
If you want to see the sights in San Fransisco, Christina's place is perfectly located. Just a few blocks from a lovely old tram which will take you to the heart of the city. Christina and Hector are very friendly hosts, and the fact that they often have other airbnb guests in other rooms just enhances the stay - you get chance to talk to other nationalities and get to know them. We had a lovely and memorable few days with Christina - it was a pleasure to meet her.
I had amazing time at Urban Oasis! The flat is in a strategic position, a very good starting point for any excursion in San Francisco. My bed was so comfortable and the sheets so soft that I slept like a baby! What makes this place unique though is the warm and friendly hospitality you'll find there. Christina and Hector treated me as a family member. Feeling home (especially for solitary travelers like me) it can make the whole experience abroad such a great experience! I'll be back :-)
Great location. Comfy room and easy to get to. Have to say I love San Fran after this visit and will be back. Did not get to meet Christina but was easy to get in and get sorted - I hired a bike from Mission bikes on Valencia and had a brilliant time cycling the city/bridge/parks.
Christina and Héctor were awesome hosts! They were friendly, relax and generous! Great little chats about culture and experiences with them.
I even had the pleasure of spending Thanksgiving with them..it was AMAZING. An experience that can hardly be measured.
The place was really clean and comfortable, also the perfect location to explore San Francisco. I was sad to leave this place called Home.
When I do ever return to San Francisco, I'll surely be back here!
A great place for my friend to stay! Thanks! Christina was very flexible with arrival time.
Really nice home. Busy street - bring earplugs. Everything you need is there. Close to everything. Christina and Hector are great. Thanks.
From the minute I arrived at the Urban Oasis, Christina and Hector made me feel right at home. The room was lovely with an extremely comfortable bed. The location was perfect with a lot of great restaurants, shops and transportation within an easy walk. I highly recommend staying at this wonderful private home. I feel as if I was staying with family!
