We have a private room in our beautiful and spacious apartment in Montreal's Mile End. The neighbourhood is wonderful; you'll be walking distance to many of the city's hot spots.
We have a private room with double bed for your stay. The apartment is large, on a quiet street and shared with 3 young professionals and 3 cats. The room is small and located by the kitchen.
This is a happy, communal apartment. We like to share meals and chat about our days. Staying here means having three friends tell you about the best spots to go for brunch (or midnight snacks).
The apartment is next to all the cool stuff. All the cool stuff you want to do in Montreal? It's next to us.
Guests have access to all communal space: kitchen, balcony, backyard, living room, reading nook and bathroom.
There is a washer and a dryer for you to use, if you wish. We also have a fully-equipped kitchen if you'd like to cook your own meals.
There is Wi-Fi in the apartment, but it doesn't work well in the room we're renting. However, there is a "office space" we encourage you to use, if you need to do work.
Interaction with Guests
If we are not at work or out enjoying Montreal's cafes or parks, we're happy to spend some time with you and answer any questions about things to visit in the city.
The apartment is close to everything! There are numerous cafes, restaurants and parks nearby. A local farmers' market is down the street in the summer and autumn. To get downtown, you can take a stroll through Jeanne-Mance Park along the mountain or an 8-minute bus ride will take you straight to Place des Arts (perfect for festivals!).
The famous bagel shops, St. Viateur and Fairmont, are just a quick walk away - as are Montrealer's favourite cafes, Olympico and Cafe Social. We are right nearby the popular tam-tams in the park on Sundays as well as some of Montreal's most well-known and busiest shopping streets, Mont-Royal, St. Laurent and St. Denis.
It's easy to get around by foot, but there are also bixi bicycles to rent by the hour and several bus lines that run within a few minutes of the apartment. There is overnight street parking nearby.
Other Things to Note
We have three adorable cats.
On parle français und ein bißchen Deutsch.
We welcome people of all colours, orientations, and genders. Sadly the apartment is not wheelchair accessible.
If you want to smoke, we ask that you go on the balcony. Shoes off inside, please.
Caroline was very friendly and quick to respond to my messages. Always willing to give great recommendations. She also invited me to a film screening and dinner with her friends my first night.
I also had a lot of contact with Alicia who also had a lot of interesting stories about Montreal and was super friendly too. Didn't have much interaction with the third roommate since my français is not good.
Overall the apartment was clean and in good order. I'd stay again. The cats were also really friendly!
Thank you ladies for making the world feel a little smaller!
Caroline and co were great hostesses! The flat was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. I'd definitely stay again if I'm ever in the area!
I spent a lovely 9 days at Caroline's listing and felt very comfortable with the accommodation and the company. Caroline and Alicia in particular are passionate about Montreal and they had plenty of favorites to share with me.
My favorite part of staying with them was feeling like a friend, they took me out on my first night to celebrate Caroline's birthday at an Indian restaurant, one of their friend's gave me acupuncture, they invited me to events they were going to, and on my last night I went to an event called "Slow Dance" that Alicia helped to host--it was amazing!
They are well connected ladies and so welcoming.
The two main hosts, Carolin ans Alisa, are extremely helpful and welcoming. The neighborhood is also great. The third roommate who lived there while I stayed there hardly said hello when I met her occasionally, which was not very kind and made me feel uncomfortable. It was obvious that she was bothered by my presence. - Some objective facts are to be followed. I do liked the two main hosts but as I stayed there for 8 weeks and did not got this information before I booked the room I feel obliged to be honest and open: The room is next to the kitchen and not very well isolated, the doorknob was broken, but you could close the door from the inside, not reliably from the outside. Next to the kitchen means that you gonna wake up easily if somebody needs something from the fridge or gets coffee in the morning. The room itself is basically just the bed with respect to size. The bathroom, and these are absolutely objective facts and no exaggerations, was extremely dirty... I prefered the toilet at the university. It was not just the stuff from the cat toilet which was all over the floor but also the toilet itself. The first time I looked at it more thoroughly it was full of hair and really yellow. The shower is somewhat broken, so the water pressure is down to 30/40 percent. In my opinion, the flat is suitable for short visits, not ideal though for longer visits. Furthermore, there is Wi-Fi, but it hardly worked in my room. I could download my emails and check a website but not streaming. - As I wrote at the beginning, the two main hosts are really friendly and helpful, this is absolutely no problem. But as a Swiss I felt obliged to be honest about the other facts. The cats who live there are adorable.
We're so sorry you such a bad experience. We wish you had said something about it while you were here, we would have been happy to change things to make your stay more comfortable. We've modified our profile so future guests are aware of the room's location and that the wifi isn't great within the room itself. There isn't much we can do about the water-saving showerhead, but we will definitely work on making the bathroom much cleaner.
As for our third roommate, she speaks French and not much English. She loves having guests as much as we do and that, of course, includes you. We loved having you here and we just regret you weren't as honest during your stay as you were in your review.
Everything as described, super cosy and super cheap. Downtown is a fifteen minute ride or .. If you like ... a 30 min walk. Perfect for your stay in Montreal. I highly recommend this place!
My host was awesome: very accomodating and hopsitable. Facilities were generally awesome and the hosts did what they could to make minor improvements if there was anything I needed. All around great experience!
