Interaction with Guests
I can provide guests with travel information and advice about where to go and what to see and how to get there.
The location of this home is ideal. It is at 1000 feet elevation so there is always a sea breeze and it is cool for sleeping at night (not like the heat near the ocean). Yet I am only minutes from town and shopping. Costco is nearby and I am less than 15 minutes from the airport. I am closer to the nicer beaches on the North Kona coast and Kohala coast than if you were to stay on Alii Drive or a condo in town. I have an acre of flowers and trees that you can wander around. This is a private location on a flag lot so it is removed from the street and the traffic.
Getting around Kona is easy-There is a rush hour during certain times, but usually you can get anywhere around town in about 15 minutes. There are 4 or 5 beaches within 15-30 minutes. The very best white sand beaches are 30-40 minutes North of town and convenient to my location.
Other Things to Note
Check-in time is 12:00pm - 6pm unless other arrangements have been made with owner.
There are papaya, mango, and avocado trees on the property and you can have as much as you can eat when in season. There is a barbecue grill for your use under the lanai.
This is a quiet neighborhood so I would discourage loud party groups.
Laundry use is restricted to one load per day.
Guests are not allowed to smoke on the premises.
Peter was not there during my stay, but was easily accessible by phone (esp. when we had problems finding the key box). The apartment was cozy and centrally located (close to town and the airport) We did not spend much time in the apartment except to sleep and the place suited are needs.
I loved Peter's place. So quiet and clean. The view from living room was just amazing, wish I could just sit and watch the sunset everyday. Only 10 minutes away from the airport and close to the town center. Peter was easy to reach and accommodating. I would definitely recommend the place to others!
Great neighborhood, Peter was friendly and accommodating. Location was ideal for us. The quarters are neat, clean, roomy. Kitchen was plenty big enough for us three - but who goes to Hawaii to cook? For staples, there's a little local market two miles up the road. We stayed for a week. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
The apartment was comfortable, and the view was terrific. We didn't spend too much time in the apartment, mostly breakfast and sleeping. The fruit from Peter's yard was a nice touch.
It is located in a great place to get out to other parts of the island. It's in a good and safe neighborhood with easy parking and the view to the ocean is nice. The apt. is attached to the owners home so you can hear the home owner's living sounds. The host has a 2 page list of strict house rules which didn't feel inviting. They did have some nice fruit in a bowl for us. The apt is very adequate and supplied our needs. This was our first airbnb so we were not sure what to expect.
It's a wonderful experience staying in Peter's house. I would give Peter 6 stars if I could.
We stayed in Peter's house for three nights. It's a separate unit with two bedrooms, living room and kitchen. The house is very clean, quiet and comfortable, decorated with Peter's Hawaii paintings. There's stunning ocean view from the balcony and we really love it. The location is not bad - a few minutes to downtown Kona, and about 15 minutes to the airport.
Peter is a very nice host who waited for our arrival and showed us around his place. He gave us home grown avocado, lilikoi and mango which all taste delicious. He also lent us snorkel gears and beach chairs so we don't need to worry about it when going to the beach.
We'd love to come back next time when we travel to big island.
Peter was present when we arrived, gave us a good orientation along with a helpful list of dos and don'ts, left a bowl of produce from the garden, showed us available beach/ snorkeling gear, how to keep house cool and comfortable, and readily answered our questions about places to go, things to do. The Listing is accurate but doesn't do justice to the great view from the lanai. The apartment was quiet, private, and comfortable for us. Liked having washer/dryer and outdoor grill available for our use. The neighborhood is very accessible - easy to get to town and other locations on the island. We found a couple of great coffee farms with tours just a few minutes away.
