*** the cottage does NOT have a tv. Pretend it’s the old days and have a great conversation, play some board games!
*** the somewhat low light atmosphere many find inviting, may not be for some of our older friends. ** I do have a lamp in the closet with bright lights if you need.

This 600 sq ft cottage was built in 1931. 75% of materials used to remodel this sweet space were salvaged and every inch is dedicated to tasteful, unique craftsmanship.

It sits atop a hill that divides the coastline into two distinct beaches: Battle Rock Beach--perfect for surfing or beach combing, and Dog Beach where you can let your four-leggeds run free. Both are a block away from the cottage.

Depending on your preference for cuisine, you're either a stone's throw from "Crazy Norweigan's" for the best fish and chips around, two blocks away from a fine dining experience at "Red Fish." Definitely hit up cafe 2.0 for breakfast or lunch, Ciaran knows how to do it right. Try some amazing Italian food at Cafe Gemma!
Don’t miss out on LIVE MUSIC at Ed’s underground pub! Music many times a week. Family friendly so bring the kids for pizza, adults can taste some of our local beers!

The local co-op (open Wed-Sat) is right around the corner and the Saturday Farmer's Market happens during the summer months.

Some details you might find helpful:
The heat source is a mini split heat pump to keep the space toasty warm

Neighborhood highlights

The neighborhood overlooks both the dock, as well as Battlerock Beach. Often times it gets windy here in Port Orford, but the Wee Bird is somewhat protected by trees from North and South. Crazy Norwegians fish hut is less than a block away if you're looking for some of the best fish and chips, and if you are looking for fine dining that overlooks the ocean, then Redfish is the place. Dont worry if you want to have just one more drink, you are only a few minutes walk away and can check out the view on the walk back. Maybe you want to stop on The Dive for lunch or dinner, Brian and Ashley are great! Cafe 2.0 is where you want to go for breakfast, Ciaran does it right and has created a great atmosphere. Don’t miss out on the great live music at Mr Ed’s Underground Pub If you want to fish, kayak, surf, or beachcomb, just head across the street and down the hill to one of the beaches.

Lives in Port Orford, Oregon
Hello friends! My name is Matt, Matthew or often around town “Matty” and I love living here in beautiful Port Orford, Oregon. I enjoy working with wood, kayak fishing, or playing my mandolin with friends on the beach. You might find me running my saw mill or backhoe, building things, or creating in any way I can. I have poured lots of love into this little cottage, and around every corner, there is something new to check out. Recycling materials is a specialty of mine, I love garage sales, thrift stores, or anywhere I can score a unique piece to incorporate in the Wee Bird. I have fallen in love with this area, and hope you can come experience some of why we have chosen this sweet little town to call home. Thanks for checking out the Wee Bird House. I hope you have a wonderful time, wherever you choose to stay. Thank you, Matty
