Welcome to our beautifully restored/renovated stone Farmhouse with private pool. Set in the countryside, yet not remote, just a short stroll to the Bastide town of Eymet. Each of our 4 bedrooms has a private bathroom. Terraces for dining/relaxing
The main entrance leads to the elegant living area with comfortable sofas and upholstered chairs. The original fireplace was discovered during renovations. The flooring is 'ancient Gironde' local to the area and at least 200 years old. Opposite the living area is a writing room/study. The dining room and kitchen open onto the dining terrace where most meals are eaten during the season. Upstairs, four spacious bedrooms, each individually decorated, have their own private bathrooms. The terrace at the front of the farmhouse links to a third terrace which surrounds the pool which is a little removed from the farmhouse and looks out onto the countryside beyond.
Access to living area, study, dining room and kitchen on the ground floor, four bedrooms and bathrooms above, the three terraces surrounding the farmhouse and the swimming pool for the private use of farmhouse guests
Interaction with Guests
We will meet you at the property, show you around and give you the keys. We are always available to answer any questions - just give us a call or send an email. We want you to feel at home in this little corner of la France profonde, the really rural heart of France.
We're in the countryside, but not remote, just outside Eymet, a market town which has held its market every Thursday morning for nearly 700 years. Stroll into the village which has all the amenities you'll need - from cafes to elegant restaurants, bars to book stores. There is a post office, grocery store and green grocers. There are local fetes all season long as well as brocantes (antique fairs) and vide greniers (literally empty the attic). You'll hear English spoken, but this is definitely a French country village.
You will need a car to explore this beautiful yet slightly out of the way corner of France. If you are flying in, cars can be rented at either the Bordeaux or Bergerac airport. If you are taking the train, cars are available at the Bergerac, Libourne and Bordeaux train stations (Bergerac links to the local lines, Bordeaux & Libourne to the TGV)
Other Things to Note
We are located in the Perigord Poupre, the wine growing region of the Dordogne. Make sure to take advantage of our location and enjoy tasting at the many chateaux and vineyards in the area. Enjoy sweet Monbazillac wine, robust red Pecharmant and dry Bergerac blanc.
Property available May - October. Minimum stay 4 nights except in August. In August: minimum stay is 1 week, change-overs are Saturday. No more than 8 guests permitted. We ask that you treat our house with respect. We do not have a cleaning fee, but if the house is left excessively dirty or in disarray, we will be obliged to use the damage deposit for the extra cleaning. No pets or smoking indoors.
I have the pleasure of living part-time in one of the most beautiful and culturally diverse cities in the United States and part-time in one of the most idyllic rural areas of France, the Dordogne. In San Francisco, I take advantage of the wonderful cultural and culinary options available as well as enjoying the area's natural beauty. When I am in the south of France, I have a base from which to explore the rest of the continent. No matter where I am, I love living like a local and that's what Airbnb allows us all to do.
