  • Merilyn was a great hostess. She was very helpful, friendly, and eager to be of assistance when I wanted it. The room was very comfortable and quiet, and the neighborhood was charming!

  • Merilyn was a perfect host. She accommodated my late-night arrival gracefully, and offered helpful hints about the area. I loved being able to walk uptown to the Convention Center -- a relatively long walk but the perfect antidote to long days indoors. The room is cozy and quiet, and the bed is super-comfortable. I would definitely stay with Merilyn again!

  • Fantastic place and a great host. I would stay here again when I visit Philly again.

    Thanks for all your recommendations.

  • Such a kind and wonderful woman. I appreciate all your help and the room was so lovely. I wish you the best in all your future endeavors.

  • I stayed at Merilyn's just for 2 days during the weekend and it was really great. The place itself is really very cosy, and my room appeared to be really spacious, comfortable and full of light. Merilyn is a super-nice host indeed. She was really kind in supporting me to organise my stay to the best. She is a very pleasant person to talk to.
the home is situated in the south part of the city and a better location can hardly be imagined: city center is easily reachable through a subway (5 min of walk and 5 mins of ride) or a pleasant walk through "little Italy" quarter or the Passyunk AV.. Besides this part of Philadelphia makes you feel as if you were somewhere in 18-19 the century ( " gone with the wind" times, probably): 2-4 floor red brick houses and lots of rich cherry bloom trees, quiet streets and pretty cafes and bars.
The only thing I regret is I didn't have time to enjoy morning coffee at the backyard :-) but hope to time

  • Staying at Merilyn's place I was made to feel very welcome. It was not only my first time in Philadelphia, but also the United States, but any fears I had were soon alleviated when I entered the house. It was clean, tidy and welcoming. Merilyn was actually away when I arrived, but this was not a problem. We organised everything by email and the other housemate let me in (there are two flats available to rent in the house), gave me my keys and showed me around the house.

When not away, Merilyn lives in the house and is a great host. The house has all the utensils you could want for cooking, which Merilyn is happy to let you use.

The surrounding area is a little tired, but it is full of families and I always felt safe. It is a short 10 min walk to the Snyder subway station, and Passyunk's trendy bars, restaurants and cafes are also only 10 mins away.

My only regret I have was forgetting to take her delicious cookies with me when I left!

  • I had a great stay in Philly! I stayed at Merilyn's home and found it very comfortable and a good location. Everything was last minute (my final travel plans came together very quickly) and Merilyn could not be there in-person, but she still took the time to help out an AirBnB newbie and a "starving artist", if you will.

  • It was my first time going to a BnB and I have to say it was more than what I expected. I liked the fact it was in a real neighborhood. I did not have to deal with a lot of other guest and it was very quiet. Merilyn was very nice and I would recommend her to anyone looking for a nice location. I was also happy with the location because it was not far from a shopping center and other areas of entertainment, which I did not get a chance to experience but it was nice to know it was close to other things in the area.

  • Merilyn was an incredibly welcoming and gracious hostess. She provided excellent recommendations to bars and restaurants in her neighborhood, and there are many, and was a pleasure to chat with. I traveled to Philly to run the marathon, and she went as far as to have coffee and a bagel set of for me in the morning.

The room was very comfortable and quite, and the house very well decorated. I loved the neighborhood, and would stay with Merilyn again in a heartbeat if/when I return to Philly.

A writer/journalist (primarily as dance critic for the Philadelphia Inquirer, but many publications nationwide and online) I divide my time btw Philly and Phoenix where my husband teaches at ASU. Both homes are lovely, well-situated to downtown hubs, cultural and historical sites. When I'm not writing, I'm probably cooking, and as a former pastry chef, baking. There's a sign in my kitchen: Cookie Central. I love entertaining and checking out all the newest restaurants in Philly, walking all over town especially the Schuylkill Banks. I speak some Polish and some French. My life motto? I'm on it.
