We live in a new residential development of 3-bedroom homes in a gated community. There is no public transportation near the property, so you will need a car. The neighborhood is very quiet - you will definitely get a good nights sleep here! If you are a nature lover, you'll love it here. Great views of the mountains and the desert, and especially the stars at night! Low light pollution allows for incredible star-gazing at night.
Friendly gay hosts (monogamous couple).
Need a haircut? Raymond is a licensed cosmetologist! Haircut only $20.
Weather: Fall and Winter are picture-perfect gorgeous (unless there is a rare Pacific storm blowing through); Spring is nice but can be windy; Summer is hot, but 'it's a dry heat.' We run the air conditioner all summer and it's really not that bad. We love it here all four seasons!
Pet lovers: two indoor cats and two small dogs. Sorry, no pets allowed in the room. Our animals are very territorial, and we try to keep the room pet-free for our guests :)
Spa/Hot Tub Policy: Due to the high cost to heat the spa we are asking for $5 per hour of use, not including the time it takes to heat up. It takes about 40 minutes to heat up. This is on the 'honor' system, so all we ask is that you leave us the cash in your room when you check out. The spa pump is right outside our bedroom window, therefore we ask that you use the spa between the hours of 7 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. only. Thank you! Pool is not heated, but is comfortable to use in the Summer.
The house has solar panels, William drives an electric car, and we recycle!
Special note: Many of our guests report feeling especially rejuvenated and rested while staying at our place. This is not accidental. We utilize a technology called "Safe Space" in our home that is designed to re-pattern the electromagnetic frequencies (EMF's) found in the environment (radio, cell, wireless signals, etc.) and neutralizes their negative effects on our human energetic/auric system. Result: EMF protection, increased life force, and enhanced clarity. You can search the internet for Safe Space to find out all the technical details if you like. Bottom line, our space is REALLY special, and we want you to enjoy your stay with us! :)
Guests are welcome to cook in our gourmet kitchen and use our large refrigerator should your personal fridge get filled up. If you want to cook, just arrange a time that works best with the chef of our house, Raymond.
To access the pool area and back yard, please just come through the house and out the back door. We do not recommend going around the side of the house.
Interaction with Guests
After check-in, we like to give our guests their privacy. But we are also friendly, home most of the time, and are happy to make recommendations for dining and sightseeing.
Other Things to Note
Our dogs might bark if they hear you coming and going, but don't be alarmed. The best thing to do is to come out and say hello to Bella and George and give them equal time. Let them smell your hand and give them a pet. Bella likes her back above her tail rubbed, and loves people. George likes his head and ears stroked gently (and rubbing his belly calms him), and gets jealous if you give to much attention to Bella. The more they know you the less they will be spooked and bark when you try to come through the house :) Please don't allow the dogs or the cat to go into your room.
Smoking outdoors only
No glass in pool area
No illegal drugs
Limit two adults over 18
No pets allowed, sorry.
Please be mindful of our very friendly indoor cat (Benjamin) who will want to make friends with you and sneak out your door if you leave it open :) and our newest addition "Bella" our small Chihuahua who gets excited when we have visitors :)
Spa/Hot Tub Policy: Due to the high cost to heat the spa we are asking for $5 per hour of use, not including the time it takes to heat up. It takes about 40 minutes to heat up (in winter, less in hotter seasons). This is on the 'honor' system, so all we ask is that you leave us the cash in your room when you check out. The spa pump is right outside our bedroom window, therefore we ask that you use the spa between the hours of 7 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. only. Thank you! Pool not heated, but is comfortable in the Summer!
Parking: The Homeowner's Association has requested there is no over night parking permitted on the street. After 10 p.m. please park your car in the driveway on the extreme right hand side (so a car can get out of the garage on the left side) overnight. It is okay to park on the street during the day. Park legally, i.e., with the right side of the car on the right side of the street.
If for some reason you need to park your car overnight on the street give us advance warning so we can 'safe-list' your car. Thanks!
The host was immediately in touch with me when the booking was confirmed. There were various parking instructions and other house rules that were explained ahead of time and on site when we arrived. Both Raymond and William were extremely inviting, and introduced us to their two dogs and kitty! They made us feel right at home. Super relaxing and comfortable stay in the desert, highly recommended! Thanks guys!
Raymond and William were the perfect hosts! The room was well-appointed with everything I needed for my weekend trip. I loved their attention to detail, right down to the organic choices of bath products. I felt right at home and will continue to stay with them during any future visits to DHS.
What a gorgeous location, beautiful house, fantastic hosts, and ideal room! We loved our stay here. Privacy, pool, quiet, natural beauty, and a size of fun, funky art! I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thanks Raymond and William!
Raymond and William, are welcoming hosts. They have a lovely guest room with private bathroom and entrances. Indeed, I highly recommend a stay at their clean, neatly decorated, comfortable room.
Wonderful place. The room looks just like the pictures. Some of the best sleep I have had. Also the fact that the room had a private entrance made it feel like I was staying in a very luxurious hotel. William and Raymond were very friendly and even gave a tour of his house and all the amenities they provide! Would definitely stay again!
This is a great spot for visiting the area. Very handy to Morongo casino, outlet malls, Palm Springs and Joshua Tree (if you're not camping). VERY quiet neighborhood. Great to walk around at night to get some exercise.
Modern decor and bed was very comfortable. Nice thick bath towels. En suite kitchen setup was perfect for making coffee, keeping a few things cold in the mini fridge. Little bistro table perfect for eating take out. Private entrance opens to a patio which is great to sit out in the AM and drink coffee.

About the Host, Raymond And William
William and Raymond are a gay couple who live together in the Desert Hot Springs property (not the Palm Springs apartment). William loves to travel (he's been to London and all around the British country-side, Amsterdam, Sydney, Puerto Vallarta, Paris, Egypt, Costa Rica, all over the U.S., etc.), loves reading, works at a local university, and is vegan. Raymond loves music (Grace Jones, Cher, Nina Hagen, Boy George are among his favorites). Both love to exercise, socialize with friends in Palm Springs, and watch movies together.
