What a wonderful stay with Stanley and Lorna! We felt so 'at home' in the nice guest house situated adjacent to their home. The guest house was perfectly clean and read for us. The small, well equipped kitchen was perfect for making breakfast and other meals when we were too tired to endure going out into the Nairobi traffic. The surrounding grounds were well kept and inviting. We enjoyed attending church with the Stanley, Lorna, and one of their daughters. We will be staying with the Muthiora family again and again in days ahead.
Stanley and his wife catered for a very pleasant experience. Their cottage has everything you need to feel at home; and they even took the liberty to stock the fridge, provide some water, etc. The location is very convenient, quiet and full of trees–a welcome refuge from noisy Nairobi's dusty roads. Highly recommended!
My family and I had a wonderful stay at Stanley's guesthouse. This is the second time we stayed here and, both now and in our previous stay, Stanley and his wife Lorna were superb hosts: they did all what was at their hand to make our stay more comfortable (e.g. he put cable TV in our house so as to let me watch the FIFA World Cup games... without asking for it!, and helped us a lot settling in Nairobi, giving us rides to see other houses in our search for permanent residences, contacting other landlords and providing and lots of useful tips). In brief, they really made us feel as part of their family -- my daughter even called them grandma and grandpa!
The guesthouse is small but clean, well equipped and cozy. Internet works pretty well -- much better than in a couple of serviced apartments were I have previously been in Nairobi -- and the compound has a gorgeous garden (the pictures do not do it justice!). Finally, the house is in a beautiful and privileged location: Tende Dr is one of the quietest neighborhoods of Nairobi, as secure as Nairobi can be, and still close to the city centre, with a couple of shopping centers nearby. We loved the area so much that the long-term lease we have just signed is just 500m away!
In sum, if you are new in Nairobi and you need a reliable place to start with, or you just want the advantages of furnished & serviced apartments in a warmer atmosphere, I would highly recommend Stanley's guesthouse.
I am married to my wife Lorna and we have 4 grown up children two of who have their own homes. My wife, myself and two of our daughters live in the main house which share a large and well maintained compound with the guest house.
Ours is a devoted christian family that believes in strong family values. We therefore enjoy hosting guests who also have strong christian values.
My family and I enjoy traveling and meeting people from different parts of the world and learning from them about their cultures.
