The Space

Charming private bedroom with attached private bathroom in a 2-bedroom apartment. The apartment is in the back of a traditional New Orleans shotgun. The room has a queen-sized bed with attached private bathroom w/ tub, and a walk-in closet. We provide towels, linens, hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc.

You have access to our kitchen, living room, laundry, Wi-Fi, deck, and elliptical. We have coffee, tea, almond milk, and bottled water.

Location:
The apartment is on hip Magazine Street and is six blocks from Whole Foods. Short walk to shops, cafes, restaurants, bars, and yoga studios. Very close to Audubon Park, Zoo, and the Mississippi river front. We are a block away from one of New Orleans' po-boy shops, Guy's and six blocks to Le Bon Temps where you can hear live music almost every night of the week.

During Mardi Gras seven parades march in front of the house.

Transportation:
It's a block to the Magazine St bus stop and about 8 blocks to the St Charles street car. ($1.25 / ride and $3 a day for unlimited bus/street car rides) It's roughly a $15 cab ride to the French Quarter and $35-40 (w/ tip) to the airport. Safe, free parking on the street.

We have two sweet cats and a german shephed who are not allowed in the private room / bath or outside (cats).

Guest Access

Guests have a private bedroom that is off the kitchen. Connected to their bedroom is a full, private bath and a walk-in closet.

The rest of the house is shared.

Interaction with Guests

Our apartment is a 2 bedroom 2 bath so unless we are on vacation we will be living in the apartment as well. We respect your privacy and do our best not to get in your way. We enjoy getting to know our guests but are not offended if you don't want to hang out.

The Neighborhood

I really love that our neighborhood is quiet but within walking distance to tons of restaurants, bars, live music, a movie theater, grocery stores, and Audubon park. It's 6 blocks to Whole Foods and 8 to Winn Dixie (regular grocery store). We are 8 blocks to the Prytania Theater (made famous by A Confederacy of Dunces). We are walking distance to pizza, sushi, Mexican, breakfast, fresh juices, poboys, fine dinning, fantastic, local ice cream, and a french bakery. We are also 6 blocks from Le Bon (email hidden) and great place to hear live music (usually free or for a cheap cover).

Getting around

The Magazine St bus stops a block from our house. It will drop (email hidden) - the beginning of the French Quarter. It's a short walk to the Tchoupatoulas bus and the St Charles street car. Our public transit system is definetly on "Island Time" meaning they are generally on time in the morning and begin to get off schedule as the day progresses. Once it gets late (past 10pm) I don't attempt trying to take the bus / street car because they do not run very often and are usually not at all on time at that point. It's a 15-20 taxi ride from Frenchman St (just past the far side of the French Quarter) unless it's a holiday or special event.

Biking is also a great way to get around New Orleans. It's best not to bike on Magazine St - better to take a side street.

  • Everything was great. Lesley and Johnathan were very accommodating and kind. Safe and charming neighborhood.

  • Lesley and Jonathan's was the perfect first airbnb experience! The rental area is larger than it looks in photos; very spacious, and the layout of their place is ideal -- the apartment entrance leads straight to the kitchen, and the room is directly to the right of the kitchen. We never once felt like we were invading their space (introvert issues!) because we didn't have to cross through their living area and had our own bathroom. We loved the proximity to Whole Foods and La Boulangerie (French bakery on Magazine) and that everything we wanted to do in the French Quarter and Uptown was a quick drive away. It was an ideal home-away-from-home for our two-night stay.

  • Clean, spacious room and well sized bathroom with great shower/bath. Also, the cats were adorable and really cuddly! Lesley's place is at a prime location on Magazine Street with boutiques, cafes, and restaurants within walking distance in both directions. New Orleans was wonderful, and we can't wait to come back and see more of this wonderful city!

  • My stay at Lesley's place was wonderful. She and Jonathan were lovely & accommodating hosts...my room was super comfortable and the house is in a beautiful, quiet part of town. The animals were super friendly, too. I wish I could have stayed longer!

  • This was our first experience with airbnb and we really enjoyed the venue. Our hosts and the accommodations were great. The room was neat, clean and airy and the private bathroom and large storage closet were a definite plus. The neighborhood was very pleasant and, with a little walking, you can enjoy eating and drinking (all sorts of beverages). If you drive you would have to find street parking.

  • Nice people, lovely place, fantastic location! No complaints!

  • Not sure Lesley and Jonathan even need any more praise - think previous guests said it all. My room was so beautiful and welcoming I almost cried with joy when I stepped in, hahaha. And the house is located in a great part of New Orleans, just a different world from the French quarter. I had a really, really good stay. Thank you both! (And to the pets too.)

  • We had a wonderful time staying with Lesley! The room was fantastic--lots of light, comfy bed, clean bathroom, and a great closet. The location was incredibly convenient and our trip was made infinitely better by having such a nice host and lovely place to stay.

  • Great experience, Lesley and Jonathan are very kind, the place is confortable, absolutely clean and nice deco. The neighborhood is quiet, there are grocery stores near and is very close to the bus station. We absolutely recommend it.

  • Lesley and Jonathan were great hosts!! I'd never stayed anywhere with Airbnb before, and they gave a lasting impression. The place was very clean and in a great part of New Orleans. My boyfriend who stayed with me had a blast talking with Jonathan, and their house rules were very easy to follow. Their pets were super friendly. The bus stop to go down Magazine to the French Quarter was in very close proximity, which was very helpful (and cheaper than a cab!). I'd definitely stay here again! :)
