Charming private bedroom with attached private bathroom in a 2-bedroom apartment. The apartment is in the back of a traditional New Orleans shotgun. The room has a firm queen-sized bed with attached private bathroom w/ tub, and a walk-in closet. We provide towels, linens, hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc.
You have access to our kitchen, living room, laundry, Wi-Fi, deck, and elliptical. We have coffee, tea, almond milk, and filtered water. We also have two bikes (w/helmets and lights) that guests can use to explore the city.
The apartment is on hip Magazine Street and is six blocks from Whole Foods. Short walk to shops, cafes, restaurants, bars, gyms, and yoga studios. Very close to Audubon Park, Zoo, running trail (1.8 mile loop), and the Mississippi river front. We are a block away from one of New Orleans' po-boy shops, Guy's and six blocks to Le Bon Temps where you can hear live music almost every night of the week.
During Mardi Gras 11 parades march in front of the house.
It's a block to the Magazine St bus stop and about 8 blocks to the St Charles street car. ($1.25 / ride and $3 a day for unlimited bus/street car rides) It's roughly a $15 cab ride to the French Quarter and $35 (w/ tip) to the airport. Safe, free parking on the street.
We also have two bikes available for guests to use.
We have two sweet cats and a german shephed who are not allowed in the private room / bath or outside (cats).

The rest of the house is shared.
Laundry (also the host's bathroom)
Interaction with Guests
Our apartment is a 2 bedroom 2 bath so unless we are on vacation we will be living in the apartment as well. We respect your privacy and do our best not to get in your way. We enjoy getting to know our guests but are not offended if you don't want to hang out.
I really love that our neighborhood is quiet but within walking distance to tons of restaurants, bars, live music, a movie theater, grocery stores, and Audubon park. It's 6 blocks to Whole Foods and 8 to Winn Dixie (regular grocery store). We are 8 blocks to the Prytania Theater (made famous by A Confederacy of Dunces). We are walking distance to pizza, sushi, Mexican, breakfast, fresh juices, poboys, fine dinning, fantastic, local ice cream, and a french bakery. We are also 6 blocks from Le Bon Roule a great place to hear live music (usually free or for a cheap cover).
The Magazine St (#11) bus stops a block from our house. It will drop you at the beginning of the French Quarter. It's a short walk to the Tchoupatoulas bus and the St Charles street car. Our public transit system is definetly on "Island Time" meaning they are generally on time in the morning and begin to get off schedule as the day progresses. Once it gets late (past 10pm) I don't attempt trying to take the bus / street car because they do not run very often and are usually not at all on time at that point. It's a 15-20 taxi ride from Frenchman St (just past the far side of the French Quarter) unless it's a holiday or special event.
Biking is also a great way to get around New Orleans. It's best not to bike on Magazine St - better to take a side street. We have two bikes available for guests to borrow. We have helmets and lights for the bikes.
No smoking in the house (deck ok). 420 friendly. No pets. Please try to keep the cats inside / on the screened in porch. If you're going to be gone for a while please turn off the air conditioner. Always turn off the gas heater and any space heaters when you leave.
We recycle but we are not fanatical about it. Recycling is next to the trash can in the kitchen. You can recycle the following
- cardboard (no pizza boxes)
- PET boxes (almond milk etc)
- all plastic
- no glass ( I know it's weird)
Lesley's place is so gorgeous! What a gem...I'm so glad I did not stay at a hotel!!! Exposed brick, wonderful art (done by Lesley and her boyfriend, Jonathan), and high ceilings! The room was spacious, with a large walk-in closet that I was able to put my suitcase in. The bathroom was private (master bath) and was also very spacious. I was able to store some food items in their fridge and they allowed me to use their Keurig for coffee (as well as plates and utensils). The bed was very comfortable, linens were fresh, and the temperature was perfect! The location was so great...within walking distance of so much, and parking was a breeze! There was a detailed note including places to check out, which was very helpful. Thanks so much, Lesley!!!
Lesley was awesome about sharing details on how to find the apartment, get in, and where our room was in the house in advance. As a cherry on top she provided a full "menu" of house FYIs, local restaurants (with personal reviews), and places to hang in our room. The place was soo New Orleans - an historic home, super tall ceilings, large closet and bathroom, and lovely kitchen - we loved it! I was surprised that 2 cats lived there, they were very well mannered and kept to the main rooms; as a non-cat person, I felt very comfortable. The neighborhood was a 10 minute drive from downtown and littered with local shops and restaurants. I had the best shrimp and grits.. of my life. This was my first private room Airbnb and I had wonderful stay, i would do it again and recommended others to as well.
Lesley has a great house and I immediately felt at home. The bedroom is huge with a nice walk in closet and attached bathroom. She provides all the necessities in case you've forgot shampoo etc. They have adorable cats and a sweet dog. I was barely around due to my work schedule, but on the one night I did come home, Lesley graciously offered me a slice of home cooked vegetarian meatloaf. She is a wonderful host and it's the perfect place for a New Orleans stay. Highly Recommended!
We had a great experience staying with Lesley. The location was convenient, walking distance to Audubon park and right on the bus line to the French Quarter. Our favorite part of the stay was Lesley and Jonathan's restaurant and bar recommendations, we ate out for every meal and loved every one of them. The room was lovely and comfortable, it was nice to have our own bathroom. Access to the house was easy and their pets are sweet. It was nice to have access to bikes as well. We highly recommend these very friendly and helpful hosts!
great neighbourhood, nice house. we walked to restaurants and bars easily. some people warned us about the side streets but we never felt like we were in danger. the entrance being in the back is nice because we didn't have to pass through our hosts' room when getting home and the ensuite bathroom was an amazing convenience. the bed was more comfortable than ours at home and i don't think we could have survived the trip without the air conditioner in our room. also, we love cats but can't have any in our place at home so it was nice to have a furry guy curled up with us (though she'd gladly leave if we wanted her to). also, the bikes made available to us were a great way to get around though the bus to downtown and the streetcar lines is right out front.
Very nice and spacious place. Very clean. Owners were super friendly and helpful whenever we needed an answer to a question. Wish we could've spent some time chit chatting with them, but we were in a rush most of the trip. Plenty of street parking and an easy drive to the French Quarter and other hot spots. Would definitely recommend.
NOLA was wonderful and staying at Lesley's and Jonathan's apartment made it even better. The apartment and in particular the bedroom & private bath were exactly like the photos. The location on Magazine Street is perfect. Plenty of local flavor in the form of food, shops and people. The trolley's about 4-5 blocks from Magazine Street making it easy to get to the French Quarter and Frenchman's Street. What set Lesley and Jonathan apart as host? On the day we were to leave, we were literally rained out, with the cab we ordered MIA. I texted Lesley to ask if she could take us to the airport. She said sure! That "sure" was the cherry on top of our beignets! Lesley and Jonathan are warm and friendly people. They're around if you need them and have left notes full of recommendations when they're not. Thanks for making our vacation truly memorable!!

We are pretty easy going. Both of us practice ashtanga yoga and enjoy watching movies. We both enjoy traveling and meeting new people which is why we enjoy hosting people in our home.
