Charming private bedroom with attached private bathroom in a 2-bedroom apartment. The apartment is in the back of a traditional New Orleans shotgun. The room has a queen-sized bed with attached private bathroom w/ tub, and a walk-in closet. We provide towels, linens, hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc.
You have access to our kitchen, living room, laundry, Wi-Fi, deck, and elliptical. We have coffee, tea, almond milk, and bottled water.
The apartment is on hip Magazine Street and is six blocks from Whole Foods. Short walk to shops, cafes, restaurants, bars, and yoga studios. Very close to Audubon Park, Zoo, and the Mississippi river front. We are a block away from one of New Orleans' po-boy shops, Guy's and six blocks to Le Bon Temps where you can hear live music almost every night of the week.
During Mardi Gras seven parades march in front of the house.
It's a block to the Magazine St bus stop and about 8 blocks to the St Charles street car. ($1.25 / ride and $3 a day for unlimited bus/street car rides) It's roughly a $15 cab ride to the French Quarter and $35-40 (w/ tip) to the airport. Safe, free parking on the street.
We have two sweet cats and a german shephed who are not allowed in the private room / bath or outside (cats).
Guests have a private bedroom that is off the kitchen. Connected to their bedroom is a full, private bath and a walk-in closet.
The rest of the house is shared.
Laundry (also the host's bathroom)
Our apartment is a 2 bedroom 2 bath so unless we are on vacation we will be living in the apartment as well. We respect your privacy and do our best not to get in your way. We enjoy getting to know our guests but are not offended if you don't want to hang out.
I really love that our neighborhood is quiet but within walking distance to tons of restaurants, bars, live music, a movie theater, grocery stores, and Audubon park. It's 6 blocks to Whole Foods and 8 to Winn Dixie (regular grocery store). We are 8 blocks to the Prytania Theater (made famous by A Confederacy of Dunces). We are walking distance to pizza, sushi, Mexican, breakfast, fresh juices, poboys, fine dinning, fantastic, local ice cream, and a french bakery. We are also 6 blocks from Le Bon Temps - a local bar and great place to hear live music (usually free or for a cheap cover).
The Magazine St bus stops a block from our house. It will drop (email hidden) - the beginning of the French Quarter. It's a short walk to the Tchoupatoulas bus and the St Charles street car. Our public transit system is definetly on "Island Time" meaning they are generally on time in the morning and begin to get off schedule as the day progresses. Once it gets late (past 10pm) I don't attempt trying to take the bus / street car because they do not run very often and are usually not at all on time at that point. It's a 15-20 taxi ride from Frenchman St (just past the far side of the French Quarter) unless it's a holiday or special event.
Biking is also a great way to get around New Orleans. It's best not to bike on Magazine St - better to take a side street.

The room was lovely - clean, super comfortable bed, amazing shower - all I could ask for! Lesley is a mellow, discreet but kind host which was exactly what I was looking for. She has two very friendly cats - something to be aware of in case you're not a cat-person.
My husband and I were so happy that we were able to book with Lesley last minute for Lundi Gras and Mardi Gras! Since the magic of carnival season was in full swing, we didn't see our host for most of the time we were there but when we did see her, Lesley was very nice. Lesley was quick to respond to any email or text questions we had. Our room, bathroom, and the overall house was very clean and we loved the artwork of the house! A cold spell came over the city during our stay but we were able to stay cozy with the room heater and space heater that was made available to us. Last but not least...Lulu and Scooter, the resident kitties, were fun! J & I are dog people but we had such a great time with the cats :o)
I highly recommend Lesley's home for anyone looking to stay in the lovely Uptown area of NOLA!
Lesley and Jonathan are extremely kind and welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable, the wifi was good, and the location was great. Recommended!
Excellent in all ways!
Lesley and Jonathan are the best! A beautiful, clean, comfortable home with the most gracious of hosts... and an unbeatable location to boot!!! I hope to return whenever I travel through New Orleans.
My brother and I stayed at Lesley's for a weekend. Lesley is a great host. Both her and her husband were very friendly and helpful.I would without no doubt recommend this place to my friends.
The location is very good, and is relatively close to the French Quarter. The house is located close to a bus stop, which made it easy to travel around the city.
Lesley is a great host, friendly and helpful, but not intrusive. We stayed there four weeks, we had some business to do as well as relaxing. The accommodation is fine, good private space and use of kitchen and living room. We felt at home. The location right on Magazine Street is really good, it's the best street to stay in New Orleans, restaurants, bars, shops, fun atmosphere. It's an easy bus ride into centre of the city or walk to Audobon park. We have been to New Orleans before but Lesley knew everything and was happy to share her love of the city. It was a great experience.
Lovely host, lovely apartment, lovely area. Great stay.
Bedroom is nicely decorated with paintings, very clean and comfortable. The location is great--right on Magazine St., easily walkable to many restaurants and cafes, and a bus which stops right outside the house takes you straight to the French Quarter. The kitties are sweet too!
Lesley and Jonathan are wonderful hosts - friendly and helpful!! The room was spacious and very clean. Bonus: Lesley and Jonathan both have beautiful artwork on the walls in the bedroom! Definitely recommend staying here.
