I recently spent a month at Beji Indah, and I wake up each morning missing the beautiful Nakula Villa, the peaceful scenery, and the gracious staff. Beji Indah became my home.
I checked in at the end of the rainy season (mid March). Some people worry about being in Ubud during any part of the rainy season, but I must say it was my favorite. Sleeping in the open villa to the sound of the rain was serenity at its best.
All of the villas are designed differently, are all beautiful, but my favorite was definitely Nakula. The villa is very large with plenty of room. The entire front opens to the face the jungle and river valley. I loved the constant outdoor feeling. I spent a lot of time lounging on the benches at the front of the villa. The bedroom area can be completely closed off by glass doors in order to use air conditioning. I did take advantage of this a few times. It was a wonderful break from the extremely hot days and also very welcome when I fell ill. The outdoor bathroom is wonderful, and I had several showers under a full moon. YES, there are a lot of critters. Thankfully they are all friendly. If you really dislike bugs, lizards, and frogs, this place will unsettle you. I thought it was quite enjoyable to have them around. Many of them are quite beautiful.
Nakula is on the middle level of one big structure. If there are neighbors on the top and bottom, you will hear them at times, but it was never disruptive. There is a small pool outside in front of this building, and a large lap pool a few steps further. I swam in the larger pool almost every morning before breakfast. Breakfast was wonderful each morning. Everything is made fresh so don't order breakfast if you are in a rush. The menu is limited to eggs, fruit, and pancakes, but everything I tried was delicious! I ate lunch and dinner a few times and it was also delicious.
The staff is extremely accommodating and kind. Because of my length of stay, they all greeted me by name and carefully looked after me. Komang and Kadek went above and beyond. They assisted with tours, bikes, and even took me to the doctor when I was ill. They were always willing to answer my endless questions and they were very helpful with the arrangement of friends who visited during my stay.
The main part of Ubud is a 15 - 45 minute walk (depending on which area you are going to) that goes by the monkey forest. I recommend a motor scooter for those with experience or even a bicycle. I took a taxi several times which is easy. There are several restaurants near by when you don't want to go back to the main streets.
My time here was peaceful, fun, and simply wonderful. Thank you!
If you want to chill out with SUPERB views of the valley & beautiful grounds then Nakula is ideal. Spent 12 very enjoyable days soaking in the peace & very few guests to be seen as the estate is massive & very private. Huge living areas. Lots of storage (website hidden) fridge with tea/coffee facilities available. Staff are very friendly & helpful. It is located a (walkable-30 mins) distance to Ubud centre but would recommend a moped/scooter for getting in & out. Breakfast (can be served on the balcony) is small but yummy. Outdoor shower/bathroom is an acquired taste- be prepared for insects.....mossies, ants, (remember you're next to the jungle!!) Wifi is slow & intermittent from the room but better at reception area. I would definitely come back for the peace & tranquillity alone.....
It is for sure an amazing estate, greate service and overall we loved it there.
Amazing location, wonderfully peaceful place to stay, a sanctuary in the middle of nature.
I was impressed by the location and room, staff was very friendly and available. Even had spa treatments and yoga classes on-site.
All in all a wonderful experience I would love to repeat!
beautiful environment and very large suite for the price. space is five star setting. very open living room. clean. can eat breakfast at a couple spots overlooking river.
staff and service can be better.
We really loved our stay in this suite.
- The suite is beautiful, spacious and confortable. Last but not least the view from the terrace is incredible.
- The situation is perfect (it's a quiete place and the busy down town of Ubud is at 15/20 minutes by walk accross the monkey forest).
Highly recommended! perfect place to discoer Ubud and its surroundings.
