A quiet spot just off the Drive

Apartment - Private room · East 7th Avenue, Vancouver, BC V5N 1R9, Canada

The Space

This queer-friendly, room-mate style homestay is centrally located in a quiet corner of East Vancouver. Full of colour and warmth and books, the apartment is comfortable and welcoming, a good place to settle for a few days or more as you explore Vancouver.

Wake up after a good night's sleep and head out for a stroll on colourful, eclectic Commercial Drive. Get a latte in one of the local coffee joints that range from funky older Italian hangouts to hipster macbook havens. Check out the shops, and maybe grab some groceries to bring back for dinner- you're welcome to cook for yourself in our kitchen. Tea, coffee, granola and yogurt are provided for breakfast.

There's a lot going on in Vancouver, and you'll have no trouble getting wherever you wish to go: we're just a 5-minute walk from the Broadway Skytrain station, allowing quick access to conference centres and shopping down town. And thanks to the Canada Line, we're just 40 minutes from YVR!

Maximum stay is generally one week, but if you're loving Vancouver, a longer stay is negotiable. Some other fiddly details:

  • Anna's apartment is in a great location and she's a perfect host. I would gladly stay again.

  • Staying with Anna was fabulous! She was very friendly and helpful, and her place was clean and nicely kept, with lots of natural sunlight. The location is great, too, just a short walk to the Drive.

  • Anna & her apartment were great! It was very close to two Skytrain stations and a very frequent 24/7 bus line. She was very helpful and communication was more than excellent, I was always surprised to stumble onto one of her notes she had left for me. If you're a fan of a nice airy apartment with a host who can hold a conversation and who also happens to make a mean biscuit, then this is the place for you!

  • Anna was a great host and her space was clean and very comfortable. She was friendly, courteous and recommended some great restaurants along "the drive". Loved the area and would definitely stay here again!

  • Anna's place is very convenient and clean. Close to the Commercial-Broadway Skytrain station which will take you to central Vancouver and to the outer suburbs, although I usually walked to and from downtown. Anna is quirky and intelligent, easy to converse with but always mindful of your privacy.

  • I had a wonderful time of professional development in Vancouver. Anna's guestroom is lovely, clean and functional! The apartment is on a quiet and treed street, close to the Sky Train. Just what I needed to have a good rest after a busy day. Anna is a most gracious host. Even though we were both on a busy schedule we did manage to find a bit of time here or there to touch base on how are day went, have a chucle about something or try her home grown snow peas.

  • This was my second time back at "A quiet spot". I felt even more at home this time. I took public transport from Vancouver airport (on subway system) and in less than an hour arrived at Commercial-Broadway stop with just a 10 minute walk to Anna's.

  • Hi all, I enjoyed this location, room, and the host, Anna. The bed, sheets and pillows were comfy. There was a small desk, wireless internet, drawers, hooks, place to hang clothes...everything I needed. The room also had a choice of a dark curtain (to keep out most all light) and a sheer curtain); I used both, as they were easy to switch out. Anna was generous to clear a place in her fridge. She provided nice towels. Anna's presence and conversation were very pleasant. She seemed both open to conversation and quiet...what more can you ask for? Thanks, Anna.

An intelligent, well-spoken, pleasant person. I live up to the reputation Canadians have for politeness, although when I get excited about ideas I start talking a mile a minute and can get a bit interrupt-y. I went back to school in my late twenties and trained as an RN. I've been a nurse for 9 years now. I hear we're the most trusted profession in North America, and I think I live up to that reputation, too.
