This fascinating 85 square meter apartment is located very centrally in the Trastevere area, close to Campo de' Fiori, Vatican, Piazza Navona, Colosseum. The place is rich of restaurants, markets, bars, shops, attractions. It has been renovated by a world wide famous American Academy Award winner film director and is located on the 2nd floor of a historic building. The lower floor comprises of a living room with a double sofa bed, an equipped kitchen, a dining area with table and chairs, an elegant bedroom facing Vicolo del Cinque with a bathroom.
In addition, on the other side, you find a studio/single bedroom with a nice niche bed and a sofà.
On the upper floor, by a wood starway from the studio/single bedroom, you find a mezzanine with a single bed and a little bathroom.
From the living room and bedrooms you can enjoy a wonderful view of Trastevere with its characteristic districts.
The apartment features air conditioning, heating, LCD TV, CD and DVD player, wi-fi internet connection, microwave, oven, washing machine, dishwasher, hair dryer, iron, accurate lining.
Recently I renowed the living room with a bed sofà and tends in delicate colors. An ancient chinese lamp on a wood table gives a fascinating atmosphere. The elegant main bedroom (dedicated to Egon Schiele paintings) has a window with double glazed that isolate from the street noisy but you consider that Trastevere has a lively nightlife, especially during the weekend.
The rest of the apartment overlooking the lovely, quiet courtyard with plants and flowers and a beautiful view.
The apartment is very central, in any case, in the area, you can find taxi and public transits: bus, tram.
Trastevere is a very central and vital quarter, a short walk from Campo dei Fiori, Piazza Navona, Colosseum, Vatican. Littered with bars, clubs, market. Neighborhood loved by artists and film people. The apartment is located a short walk from Santa Maria in Trastevere, beautiful square with the basilica of the same name created in 1300.
You are in the heart of Rome.
It's important to follow the rules. In any case during the check in we will explain everything. Ask to the check in lady.
We absolutely loved the location of this apartment. We could walk to all the main attractions, Vatican, Coliseum, museums etc. The local restaurants, bars and cafes were fantastic and although we did spend an evening in downtown Rome, we actually preferred the atmosphere in Traversere. The apartment was as described and was very clean, it suited us as a family of 4 (two boys aged 20 & 18). We were met by Vicki, who was very friendly (great English) and all of the information she gave us was accurate and useful - our favorite restaurant was one which she recommended. The guide books also proved very helpful. Overall a great place.
Our stay in Rome was great. The Trastevere area was just what we had expected, and Simona's apartment also met our expectations. The location was very convenient to many sights and museums in central Rome, we found it easy to walk to many places. We also found the bus convenient to travel farther out and transfer at other bus stops, the Metro or train stations. The weather was rather warm during our stay so the large bedroom was a bit hot, but the overhead fan was helpful. The other areas of the apartment have air conditioning units so this helped cool things down. The kitchen was good, the washer worked fine and the dishwasher was a nice treat. The check in person was wonderful, she explained everything very well and checked back with us the next day to be certain we had settled in well. We also had questions from time to time on taxis, restaurants, etc and she provided great information. Would definitely stay again at Simona's apartment!
Thank you so much Sheri for your nice, precise and positive review. I'm so glad you have appreciated the apartment and its location. As well as I'm so happy you have had a great welcome and help from Vicky, she is great and gentle. I really hope to have you again. All the best.
Simona was very responsive to all my questions at onset of rental process, her home was comfortable, had everything we needed for a short stay and was in a great location for seeing the city. We arrived much later than had anticipated and had trouble communicating our changed arrival time due to spotty wi fi and cell phone service, Francesca, who was managing our arrival, was very patient and accepting of our apologies for her inconvenience. Despite this, we settled in nicely and had a wonderful visit in Roma.
I am going to write what I think is a fair and honest review; there were both good and poor aspects to the apartment. First the good! Simone was very prompt with emails so communication was very good. We were met by Vicky at the apartment and she was very friendly and helpful. That evening she emailed through a number of restaurant suggestions - two we went to and very much enjoyed. We really loved the street and area- very busy and buzzing with energy. Was also easy to walk to most of the major attractions - taxi rank was also really close. While we were in Rome it was very hot so having air conditioning was wonderful as was the washing machine and dishwasher. The kitchen, eating and lounge area were fine. The issue really was the apartment was too small for our group in terms of sleeping arrangements. When I booked it was for 4 adults which turned into 5 adults when my son decided to join us. However we would have had the same difficulties with 4 adults. The main bedroom was comfortable and while not air conditioned it had a fan - was fine - and no problem with street noise. One of our group had the small alcove space single bed which was adequate. The tiny room with a single bed, up the very narrow and steep stairs, was totally inadequate for an adult. My son used the lounge rollout which was comfortable. The main bathroom was OK although water leaked onto the floor. The second bathroom, up the narrow stairs was once again inadequate. For example the hand-held shower could not be attached to the wall and the bath was tiny. In essence the flat would be fine for a family with young children or maybe even teenagers but was just too small for our group of 3 women and 2 men. With hindsight we should have paid more money and got a place with actual separate bedrooms. The way the flat was advertised we expected more in terms of the sleeping areas.
Dear Jan, I can understand the apartment has not respected your needs in terms of bedrooms size but in the description and photos on airbnb is explained. Trastevere is an ancient quarter in the heart of Rome. The concept of space in an ancient building in Trastevere (1500) is peculiar : Trastevere was born as a pop quarter while now is became and considerated a place "radical chic" and artistic: it is loved by cinema people and artists. The building of the apartment in particular is considerated noble -you see the lobby-, probably an ancient convent, but in any case the concept of the rooms is essential in terms of space and -in my opinion- is exactly the reason to choice (and love) Trastevere, both with the issues you have very well described. Many thanks again for your visit and positive comments. All the best. Simona
Simona and her friend, Vicky, met us as planned at the apartment. The apartment is amazing - chic and beautiful with great architectural details. It's very large with two full bathrooms. The neighborhood was listed as lively and it was! It's right in the middle of Trastevere and there are tons of restaurants and bars just outside the front door. It is loud but the windows did a great job of blocking out the noise from nearby restaurants. Simona has an extensive collection of Rome and Italy travel books too. There was a problem with the electricity when we first arrived but Simona handled it so well. She was there to meet us and explain everything and had a technician come on a Sunday night to fix everything. She was in constant communication with us via text with updates about the repairs. She was a great host.
About the Host, Simona
