Patrizia is very hospitable, generous, and far more glamorous than her profile photo would suggest. The apartment is well connected to the public transit system which one will be quick to appreciate for easily accessing and getting away from the rush of the historical center.
This is a very comfortable location for a well traveled couple or small family that just need a few more extras than what a hotel would provide. Book this place if you would like to feel like a city resident. Look elsewhere if you want to be close to tourist menu restaurants and crowded monuments.
Patrizia's place was very easy for commuting to the tourists sites, it had big bright bedrooms and a nice modern kitchen. Patricia is very friendly and helpful, we recommend staying with her!
Patrizia's place served our need well for a place from which I was able to easily get to my conference at JCU and my husband and three grown sons were able to quickly get to the major historic sites in Rome. Patrizia's place is only a few minutes walk to the Roma Trastevere station - easy access to and from the FCO airport - and to the #8 tram. I took the #8, got off just before it crossed the Garibaldi bridge over the Tiber then walked a few blocks northwest to JCU. The #8 also goes right to Piazza Venezia from which many major attractions (Coliseum, Palatine Hill, Roman Forum, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Spanish Steps, etc.) are a only a few minutes walk away. One can also easily walk to the river and have a nice walk along the Tiber.
Patrizia was very warm and welcoming and did her best to make things comfortable for us. The place is very clean, has comfortable beds and linen and other amenities to make a family get-together of five adults enjoyable. The only crinkle in the experience was being close to the noise of a major intersection but we learned later that there was a convention of Harley bikers in town that week and thousands of them were in Rome, especially in and near the Trastevere area.
Just a note to future travelers: when you get off the Roma Trastevere station from the FCO airport, go down the stairs and up to exit the station. You will see a parking lot when you exit the station but turn right along the side of the station building to the end where there are steps going down into a main road that goes under the train tracks and across to where Patrizia's building is.
Patrizia's apartment was ideal for a visit in Rome! The bedrooms are very nice, the kitchen is well stocked for anything you might need and a supermarket is five minutes away to buy anything you want. Great balcony and the bathroom is very nice with washing machine. The apartment is supported by an elevator in the building. Patrizia greeted us on arrival, gave us useful information about the area and was very nice.
The three rooms are all great bedrooms, so you can have three private bedrooms with the kitchen as a common area- or the third room can be like a common living room. Don't worry about the couch bed in the smallest room, it is a proper/comfortable twin bed with bedding!
The apartment is next to the train station that goes direct to the airport, and next to the 8 tram that goes near Pantheon via Trastevere and Campo Dei Fiori neighborhoods ending at Argentina square. Walking to the spanish Steps/Trevi Fountain from the last tram stop isn't difficult. the Vatican is also accessable but a longer walk.
The metro is more difficult to access but only about 20-25 minutes walking, or changing trams from the 8 to the 3. So, still pretty easy unless you don't want to walk or limited in amount you can walk. If you need the metro then perhaps a different area because the metro isn't in the Trastevere area.
This apartment is great to explore Trastevere, Campo Dei Fiori, the river area- but you do need to take the tram next to the apartment. To reach the main Trastevere restaurants would require about 20-25 minutes walking. I recommend the sunday Portese market, be sure to get off the tram at the edge of it where the sellers focus on cool antiques- rather than knock off goods- and it will be a lot of fun.
Anyways, I would definitley stay again!
My wife and I are glad to have had the opportunity to spend five nights in Patriczia's apartment. We went to Rome without having the opportunity to schedule our itinerary in advance and could not converse in Italian. Patrizia met us warmly with a bottle of wine and was a most gracious and helpful host. She took us in her car to acquaint us with the area and the tram system (see other reviews for location). She also had friends who were registered, licensed guides that were able to tour Rome and the Vatican with us. Both very special people who were delights to be with and to see and learn about the magnificence of Rome. The apartment was very nice, furnished with all we needed including wifi. It was about a five minute walk to the tram. Shopping, restaurants and a supermarket were close by.
Patrizia's cute flat sits in an ideal location for both Trastevere and the historical centre of Rome, and the Vatican and the Airport too (through Roma Trastevere train station).
The flat in its own is really cute and with all comforts. And Patrizia is very kind and quick in replying.
