Enjoy the comfort of home in the daylight basement of our log cabin. It is cool in the summer, cozy in the winter, and right in the middle of "Leaf Peeping". We leave goodies for breakfast along with a good selection of spices. Linens and bath towels are supplied in the large private bathroom along with soap, shampoo and conditioner, and first aid kit. Suitable for small events such as baby showers with less than 20 people.
Suite entrance is private and separate from the main house. Enjoy the large yard, gas grill, picnic table, and fire-pit. We will be here, but our interactions depend on what you are looking to get out of your stay. We can be completely hands off or we can show you the ropes on the farm. Depending on the season we may have fresh produce (eggs, veggies, etc.) available on site. Email in advance if you want to set up a guided hike or a butchering tutorial for an additional fee, season and weather dependent.
The neighborhood is rural, you can't see the neighbors for the leaves on the trees. There are many interesting sites within a short hike of the house, old foundations, an apple orchard, and more.

My mom came to visit me in NY and we decided to travel. When we saw this gem on airbnb I was sure I wouldn't be disappointed. And we were absolutely right! We stayed here for 6 WONDERFUL days during winter. The apartment was super cozy and well equipped. Comfy bed, huge bathroom, fully equipped kitchen and very spacious. We cooked all our meals there.
Ellen, Jason & kids & pets were all awesome and made ourselves feel at home :).
They left fresh eggs, bread, apples, spices, etc upon our arrival - so sweet and thoughtful!
The place is really close to Bridgton (about 5/10min with car), and 15 minutes from Shawnee Peak mountain, were we went skiing a couple of days.
We are DEFINITELY coming back, hopefully during spring or summer next time.
Totally recommend this precious gem in Maine.
We really enjoyed our time at Ellen and family's airbnb. We spent 2 nights there in January, and it was a simple cozy get-away in the Maine winter. We enjoyed hiking through the snow to the nearby Holt Pond Preserve. The small kitchen was great - stocked with oil/vinegar, choice spices/herbs (and we even used a little fresh basil from the plant near the window), and she left us english muffins/milk/eggs. Katie the dog warmed up quick enough, loved the friendly goat posse. Bring warm layers in the winter, groceries. Compost is in the freezer (we didn't realize until leaving).
Ellen is a great host! Due to the snow storm, we expected to arrive at 11PM. Ellen called us and told us not to rush. It was such a long drive, and everyone was exhausted. When we finally arrived, Ellen was there to greet us.
The room is cozy and spacious. The kitchen is fully stocked. It has everything you need: orange juice, milk, eggs, oil, etc. The beds are comfortable. Bathroom is huge. The room faces the lawn, and we felt delightful to see the snow-covered lawn in the sunny morning. We cooked lobster omelette and fried rice for breakfast using the fresh eggs that Ellen provided. Ellen's cat even came down and played with us. We wished we could stay longer.
Very nice apartment/guest house. Large, confortable and Ellen, her family and the animals are adorable. Totally recomended.
Ellen and her family are gracious guests. The homestead was exactly the experience we wanted. Our kids enjoyed the chance to roam freely and collect eggs for breakfast. A thoughtful selection of items in the pantry, including fresh herbs and fresh veggies from the garden was a nice added touch. The goats are indeed silly.
Homesteading/schooling mom at Laughing Pig Farm. Life is learning, and we learn a lot here on the farm. My family and I really enjoy hosting on Air BnB, especially because we get to meet people from all over the world without leaving the backyard. This is great while the kiddos are young, as they get older we plan to do our share of world travel. My husband, Jason, is a musician and IT person, as well as our resident handy man.
