Comfy bed for better sleep

The room-darkening shades and extra bedding are loved by guests.
This is a quiet, private casita located behind the main house inside a locked, enclosed courtyard. It is within walking distance from downtown, Old Town, museums, restaurants, indoor/outdoor coffee shops -- yet it's nestled in a quiet residential area. By car you're less than 5 minutes from the freeway in one direction, and from the downtown area, Convention Center, Zoo, Aquarium and botanical gardens in another. A parking space is provided in the driveway. No pets, and we make no exceptions.

The space
NOTABLE FEATURES:

As experienced super hosts, we have maintained a consistent five star rating with over 1000 reviews. We give a lot of attention to both the large and small things. We have added a beautiful private, tiled, shaded, wisteria-covered pergola patio directly behind the casita with a private door and walkway for casita guests only. There is also a shaded gazebo with a sectional in the courtyard in the area between the casita and the main house, where we live. We generally leave this space for guest use as well, but may pass through there occasionally, unlike the pergola in back, which we leave completely private for guest use. The one bedroom has a queen sized bed, and in the closet you will find a very comfortable inflatable mattress if you need a second bed. It has a built in electric pump for ease in inflating and deflating. The space is small enough that you would probably want to inflate it before use and deflate it in the morning to make best use of the space.

Guest access
There is a locked courtyard between the house and the casita for which only you and we have a code. We keep outdoor furniture for you there, along with a table and chairs under an umbrella for shade. There is a shaded and lighted pergola patio area behind the Casita reserved just for Casita guests. While we do not allow smoking indoors, you may smoke in any of these outdoor areas or just sit with a beverage and enjoy the cool New Mexico mornings and evenings in summer and, weather permitting, the nicer winter days as well.

Other things to note
All year long there are lots of things going on in both Old Town and the Downtown area. Our welcome message contains a link to a local website with current happenings in town as well as a link to a guest book that we put together with some of our Albuquerque favorites.

While there is no full size oven/stove in the kitchen, there is a toaster oven, a microwave, an electric frying pan and a refrigerator. There is also an outdoor gas grill in the back pergola area for your use. There are dishes, silverware and cups.

The Casita is our only Airbnb property, and we take impeccable care of it, as our long history of 5 star reviews confirm. It is perfect for one or two, and can be stretched a bit for three if you're willing to be in close quarters. There is an electrically inflatable up mattress in the closet with fresh linnens if you need one.

Neighborhood highlights

This area is very friendly to foot traffic. As you walk the sidewalks in the neighborhood, you will see the care that many of our neighbors give to presenting their houses with lots of local New Mexico charm. On the corner, a half a block from our house, there's a panaderia, or Mexican-styled bakery, that has been in the same family for generations. The newer generation has seen to all the modern upgrades, like wifi, an Uber kiosk for deliveries, ordering on the website for pickup, etc. Enjoy a latte and a snack or a pizza right on our street. Around the corner a few more steps is a truly authentic yet uniquely styled New Mexican restaurant, Cocina Azul, often praised in guest reviews. Monroe's, also a great New Mexican restaurant, is a short walk east on Mountain to 5th street. About half way there you'll pass Slow Burn, a local coffee roaster with an indoor/outdoor shop. Or walk west on Mountain about 10 minutes to museums, and a few minutes more to Old Town, with its town square, gazebo, sitting areas, and walk-in shops galore. All of this within about a 15-minute walk. Or 20 minutes south of us on foot is the downtown area. Our location is right in the middle of everything, yet nestled in a quiet urban-residential part of it. It's the perfect location for an AirBnB.

We have traveled extensively, and being fairly early in our retirement now, we have more plans to see a lot more places. We love relaxing with a book, getting out in nature, sitting for great conversation, and keeping the pace of life slow.
