The Space

An elegant curved staircase with cast bronze railing leads from the art and antique filled main floor to this secluded bedroom. Cozy and comfortable, sheltered by tree tops, this is the perfect room in which to curl up with a book. Leaded glass windows overlook the entire Willamette Valley and Autzen Stadium. The Willamette River runs below; osprey and eagles circle the tops of tall Douglas firs; wild turkeys wander through the neighborhood.

Unique, historic, romantic, secluded, built in the Roaring Twenties this romantic room softens the music of the trees to a murmur.

There is easy access to hiking, bicycling, and running trails. Pre's Trail is close by and Hayward Field, the most elegant track and field facility in the United States, is only .6 mi. away. The Matthew Knight Arena is even closer.

A queen bed with en suite bathroom and Victorian parlor stove completes the picture.

Available for major events and stay a few extra days.

Track and Field:
EXPERIENCE THE TRADITION OF TRACK IN TRACKTOWN USA. THE PERFECT PLACE TO STAY LOOKING DOWN ON THE PREFONTAINE TRAIL AND NEXT TO PRE'S ROCK.

  • I rented a charming bedroom and bathroom in this quaint private home with beautiful views. The property is located in a lovely neighborhood which is walking distance to campus. I felt very safe and comfortable and appreciated being able to stay there when all the hotels in Eugene and Springfield were booked. It worked out very nicely.

  • Our stay on a cold rainy football night was great! Our room was cozy and very clean. Our bathroom was very clean. The bed was soo comfortable! Slept well! We were welcomed warmly by Karen. Have already recommended treetop sleep to friends.

  • Charming older home on the hill behind the university with great views of the river, the university, and north Eugene and Willamette Valley. Convenient to the university (about a 15 minute walk) and the new Knight Arena. The room and bed were very comfortable with first class linens. Karen is a congenial host and puts out a very good continental style breakfast. Highly recommended!

About
Avid readers, writers, art collectors, artists and gardeners. The restoration of our home in Eugene and the construction of our stone house in Mexico are our abiding avocations/vocations. It seems that both are works in progress as are our lives. We have transitioned from participation in politics at every level to focusing more completely on writing, gardening, and working glass. After careers as professional educators and administrators we established an art gallery drawing upon our life long experience in the arts. From the art gallery we retired to a more peripatetic life living between Mexico and Eugene. We both have always been active in the nonprofit volunteer world and have moved from civic committee work to a greater emphasis on environmental issues and arts organizations. We have a cat named Stinky whom we love and a cat named Tramp who is a juvenile delinquent.
