Interaction with Guests
I live here with one of my daughters and am available most of the time to help and advise guests on transport, local eateries and sightseeing.
West Lynn (part of Grey Lynn) is a central city suburb popular with artists, actors and musicians. Our street is very established, has mostly heritage houses and most of the residents have lived here for decades. (We have been here for 28 years and have a close relationship with all our neighbours.) West Lynn is one minute's walk away and is a favorite destination for Aucklanders as it has a great organic whole foods store, organic bakery, several great cafes and eateries, 3 bars, bookshop and 3 fashion stores. Supermarket and greengrocer is 10 mins walk. Farmers Market every Sunday morning at the Community Centre.
Excellent bus service to the City( takes 10 mins) is just at the corner and takes you through Ponsonby Rd which is a long strip of high fashion shops, top restaurants, cafes and bars, a great destination for a day's wandering. Down at the waterfront guests can pick up a ferry to Devonport or Waiheke Island (vineyards, restaurants, art trails, beaches) . The Link bus service takes you to other Auckland attractions - Parnell, Newmarket, Museum and Domain. There is parking available in the street. From airport, guests can either get a shuttle to the door, or Airport bus to downtown where the 020 bus leaves from Britomart Place and drops you in West Lynn (one block from our house)
Other Things to Note
I live with my two daughters (one is traveling at the moment) and we live a very relaxed lifestyle. I would like guests to be able to relax in our garden and am very happy to chat and help with information about getting around and things to do. Our family has had fantastic stays in Airbnb places in London, Paris and New York and we are keen to offer similar experiences to travellers to NZ.
We have three cats and a small dog but they are not allowed in the studio ( in case of pet allergies).
Kate was the most lovely, accommodating host. Her garden studio was exactly as described, very light, clean and fresh and in an excellent location. We stayed with our eight month old daughter and Kate was very thoughtful, having put out towels for her and breakfast for the first day. She was helpful with information about New Zealand and local eateries and went above and beyond one evening with some babysitting! Thanks Kate for a great stay. Highly recommended!
Kate is a very warm and welcoming host, who will give any advice about the city one could wish for. The little studio is just a dream in a garden heaven and the cats and dogs are quite cuddly. We would always come back!
Kate's studio was delightful and I had a really nice 3 day stay. Kate is a beautiful and very interesting person and enjoyed talking with her. Highly recommended!
We had called Kate on our way from the airport and she was waiting for us. She welcomed us and immediately guided us about the neighbourhood and the public transportation facilities. She provided us with necessary information and brochures about the sight seeing in Auckland. The location was good as it was within walking distance from Ponsonby and the neighbourhood was very quiet. The room and bathroom were well equipped and very comfortable. Kate was very warm and friendly and we loved staying with her.
What a lovely location and cute accommodations! Kate is lovely and very helpful. We definitely recommend staying here.
We had a wonderful stay . Kate allowed us to check in a bit early and it was much appreciated after a long flight . The cottage is more than comfortable . It is delightful to sit and watch the birds and butterflies in her garden .
We had a car and parking on the quiet neighborhood street was easy . Kate had lots of information in the cottage for easy access to restaurants , stores , attractions , and transportation . When we had particular questions she was ready with answers.
Our only disappointment was that the cottage would not avaiable for a later date in the month . She did say that she would contact us should there be a cancelation .
This is a tremendous value .

I live here with my 15 year old daughter (the 21 yr old is working and traveling overseas at present). I work as a classical musician but love most other sorts of music, especially jazz and contemporary. In my free time I love to go to movies, gardening,,vintage shopping, going to book club and eating out as much as I can afford to! I have recently been to New York for 2 weeks of art galleries, shows and endless walking and am keen to travel to more exotic places in the future, maybe India!
